tryouts

Question Posted Thursday August 26 2004, 5:37 pm

My last 2 years in Middle School, we didn't need to tryout for basketball. Basically, everyone played because it was a small school. I moved and now I'm in 8th grade, and I just heard tryouts are Monday (4 days!!) I had no clue because I've been going to the same school for 7 years until this year. What is going to be expected for us to do (like specific shots and things I need to know) and how hard do you think it might be?
Thanks,
Worried

Oh, wow. Basketball. I know a lot about that. Well, you have to be able to dribble and do a shot correctly. Work on your free throws. The faster you are the better chance you have on being on the team. Also you should be able to do lay-ups. If you can do cross-overs, behind the back, between the legs, the spin move and all those other passes or drills, then it will help you A LOT. Don't hog the ball either. =c)

Don't worry, it's not gonna be hard. I used to play basketball but for tryouts, we did a lot of things. We dribbled up and down the court, passed to the ball to one another while we ran, we shot free throw shots, and we did lay ups. Every try out is different in different school but those are just the basics. Hope I helped and good luck :)
