budhisim and christianity

Question Posted Sunday August 22 2004, 5:26 pm

Hey I was in a chat room with my 2 chinese friends. One of them was christian, and one was budhist. So the budhist chinese dude was like "How could u be a christian?" and the guy goes "well I rather worship Jesus than a fat, bald, gold statue" And all hell broke loose! the budhist guy startin goin crazyyyy and was dissing christinaity and yea they fought and im not saying anything.but now the budhist guy doesnt want me hanging out with the christian, and the christian doesnt want me hanging out with the budhist guy. so im like i wanna hang out w/ both of them. but their mad at me cuz the christian guy is saying "well your christian too, he'll be a bad influence on you" and the budhist guy goes "how are you gonna hang out with someone that disses me about my religiion i thought u were cool" idk what to do they r awesome friends and we talk all the time but they hate eachother and what do i do? Thank you and I'll rate high!

being that im buddhist, ill try not to be bias in this situation. first of all, i just want to say, that "buddha" is not fat and bald, that is the, well, lucky buddha. buddha is actually tall, skinny, and he has hair. second, no true buddhist would be a bad influence on anyone. buddhists are taught almost the same things that christians are taught, we just dont believe there is a god. tell that to your christian friend, please, who knows nothing of buddhism, so he shouldnt be able to talk.

now, you should let them know how childish that they are acting and that they cant have you pick one over the other. thats selfish. point blank. no real friend would make you not hang out with your other friend. let them both know how you feel about having to choose between two good friends, and that you arent going to do that, so they will have to just get over it. religion is a big deal, but im pretty sure christians and buddhists are taught not to hate on other religions. bring some light into their eyes. its not right to not like someone because of their religion.
