Basically Journalism is reporting stuff. However there are loads of different things and fields one can work in.
If you think you might be interested then do some reserch in your local area; ask your school carears advisor for what qualifications you might need. You could even go so far as to writing to your local newspaper and asking what you might be expected to do, and how you might get into the industry.

Good luck :)

*edit [I couldn't work out which client you wanted me to IM on]*
Journalism is applicable to nearly everything that needs reports or intervies; newspapers, TV, radio, magazines, speciaslist publications.
