Question Posted Thursday August 19 2004, 9:10 pm

i really want a boyfriend, but my mom won't let me hvae one. She says it's stupid to have a boyfriend while I am a young teenager and that it's better just to be friends with a guy.

You sound like you don't have a particular guy in mind, so why cause a huge fight now? Instead, when you find Mr. Right, talk to her about it and have him meet them. Hopefully when she sees how great he is, she'll change her mind. Let her know that you don't plan on doing anything stupid this soon. Try going on a group date first, so your mom knows you're taking it slow. Also, you didn't mention your dad. Unless your parents are divorced, you should involve him in this too. Good luck!
