my friend wont dump her boyfriend!!

Question Posted Sunday August 15 2004, 2:04 pm

ok my friend has been going out with this guy for like 8 months now...and he is so hard to trust...my friend is always hearing stories about how he cheated on her...like at parties and he goes to football practice and brags about how he cheats on her...EVERYBODY tells her to dump him and that they doubt that he cares about her...but all she will do is listen to her boyfriend and of course he isnt going to admit all of this to her...but she wont listen to anybody else, shes always giving him another chance..but it needs to stop because now he knows he can get away with anything because she is so forgiving with him, what can i do to make her dump him and let her know that hes lying to her!!

*sigh* Well, you can tell her all you want but she won't listen. I'm thinking that she probably has a low self-esteem and thinks that he's the best she can get. A lot of guys do a lot of stupid things like cheating but when they're around their girlfriends, they treat them extremely well. This keeps the girlfriend from dumping him. All you can really do is reassure your friend that she's a great, cool, sweet person. Eventually she'll realsize the truth and you'll have to be the one who's got her back. All you can really do is be there for her afterwards and have her back. Other than that...you could always blackmail him somehow- tell him the game is up. Course that's dangerous work... this is your friend's life, and all you can do is help her pick up the pieces of her life after they seemingly fall apart.
