My cousin lives in Miami. He is spending the day getting prepared such as making sure he has enough food and water for himself and his 2 cats. His cats are outside pets as well but he doesnt want to risk losing them so he is buying cat carriers. Also make sure you have plenty of blankets and warm clothes. Do you have a basement? This would be the safest place to store all of this and yourselves. My mom stocks her basement with non perishables and gallons of water, along with blankets, extra clothes...and umm...wine. She makes her own wine and saves some in the basement in case of a disaster. Anyways, good luck. My prayers are with you and your family.
