OK... you can not be scared. If you really like him then just forget the risk because if it is really love then it is worth it all. If you can talk to him about anything... then just tell him exactly how you feel. You never know, he could be feeling the exact same thing but he is just too afraid to tell you because he is afraid too that you might not like him back.
