Hey Sledge.
I've been reading Ask Sledge since day one and let me just say it kicks so much ass (your pretty hot too...:P) I just had a few quick questions.
1) Who do you think looks good this year in the NFL and who is playing in the Super Bowl?
2) What is your take on the greatest movie of all time, or atleast top 5?
Wow, it's nice to know that I have at least one fan! I got kind of pissed off when I saw that I was rated a 3.67 out of 5 because some Liberal piece of trash didn't like me telling it like it is, but seeing your last question made me feel better. Let's get to your questions!
1) Who do you think looks good this year in the NFL and who is playing in the Super Bowl?
This is a great question. Who knows? I love and hate how the teams have really been shaken up this year. It seems every team has lost at least one big household name. The Bucs lost Sapp, Keyshawn and Lynch, Titans lost George, Wychek and Kearse, Broncos lost Sharp, Gold, Portis and McCaffrey, just to name a few. Those are some HUGE losses for the teams. They are the teams that seemed to have lost the best players, although there are even more that lost some big name talent this season. The Titans are screwed this year. Who do they have left? McNair? Sure he was the best QB of the 2003 season, but without any other names on the team, he makes little to no difference. Manning was so close to being the number one QB that I wouldn't even call McNair the best of 2003. A QB is only as good as his team, so Titans are screwed.
The Broncos got my main-man, John Lynch. I was pissed to see him leave my Bucs, but hey, what can you do. I think he'll be a great asset to them this year. Leaving the Buccaneers is probably the best thing he could have done, as I don't see him going any further with Tampa.
Which leads me to the Buccaneers. Am I biased? Hell yeah. I've loved the Bucs since they sucked, and still love them. I cried when I found out about Sapp and Lynch. I thought that it meant absolute disaster for them this year. Once I found out that we got Charlie Garner, Ian Gold, and Joey Galloway I was happy. There is a great new WR by the name of Michael Clayton (some of you that follow college ball have most likely heard of him) that will be a household name before no time. He is twice as good as Keyshawn and doesn't have the attitude... at least not yet. Definitely look for him to have a great season. If the Buccaneers don't make it to the latter rounds of the playoffs I will be surprised. I'm not just saying that because I worship them either.
How about the Cowboys? They were starting to kick some ass last year. They needed a QB though. This year they have added some awesome talent. Eddie George and Keyshawn Johnson will help tremendously on top of having such an awesome star in Roy Williams. The fact that Woodson is hurt sucks, but don't count them out at all.
When it all comes down to it I think this will be one of the most interesting seasons in a long time. With so many shake-ups of the rosters how could it not be?
So who do I think will play in the Super Bowl? That's a tough decision. I won't know until after pre-season. I think Buccaneers, Cowboys, Patriots, Raiders, and Broncos will have outstanding years. I think the Panthers were a fluke, so don't count on them being anything above average. I also hope the Dolphins can rebound from the loss of Ricky Williams. They were starting to get good late last season and I would love to see them in the Super Bowl. Hopefully Travis Minor will fill William's shoes, which is doubtful. I think we will end up seeing the Patriots and the Eagles with the Eagles pulling out a close victory. Can't wait for the season to start.
Next question.
2) What is your take on the greatest movie of all time, or at least top 5?
This is too vague of a question. There are too many great movies. It depends on what you go by also. If you go by entertaining value its different then if you go by what did the most for the genre or Hollywood, so I decided I'll give you the five I think everyone has got to see.
#5 - Friday the 13th (1980)
This was probably the biggest horror movie of all time, bar Psycho. Friday the 13th did more for the horror genre than any other movie, and it shows. Following the release of Friday the 13th, came tons of other horror movies with the same feel. Nightmare on Elm Street, Last House on the Left, etc. It's obvious how successful it was as they felt it necessary to make 9 more of them... trust me, it wasn't necessary.
#4 - Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
This movie is probably one of the first good adventure movies. A lot of the same aspects of the film are found in many movies today (i.e. The Rundown (2003)) It's by far the best Egyptian/Mummy/Treasure Hunt movie of all time.
#3 - Star Wars (1977)
I'm personally not a big Star Wars fan. I don't fondle my balls to Princess Leia or Han Solo like some of those geeks do. I do, however, can't deny that it's a great movie and did more for the movie industry than any movie in history. I think all the books and sub stories and BS should never have been made. I think they should have left it with the original three movies and let it be. I'm not a big fan of the new "Episodes" but I don't hate them either. I just fail to accept that they are in fact part of the three great classics. Good job George you got two movies on the top 5 list.
#2 - Tie - Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
They both kick major ass. Terminator was the first real badass, "root for the bad guy" movie. I watched this a few weeks back and loved how ridiculous some of the special effects were. Watch when he is looking in the mirror and messing with his eye. I forget what he was doing but I remember the special effects were hilarious. The second one totally made up for it. I think the Terminator movies have a kick ass story and are a must see. It's too bad "I, Robot" had to take the general concept of Terminator and give it the big Hollywood summer flick ingredients.
#1 - Impossible - Tie
This is too impossible to decide. I tried and tried to think about the number one movie of all time and I couldn't figure it out. So who could possibly fill the number one spot? Casablanca (1942), Alien (1979), The Godfather (1972), and the Wizard of Oz (1939) are possible contenders but some honorable mentions include; King Kong (1933), Fantasia (1940), Citizen Kane (1941), Singin' in the Rain (1952) Psycho (1960), 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Grease (1978), E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial (1982), Schindler's List (1993), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Forrest Gump (1994) and Pulp Fiction (1994). Snow White (1937) has to be up there also considering all the history and being the first full length animated film.
3) Will you marry me? lol :P
I'd rather say "maybe" than a definite no. Who knows? Maybe when I'm rich and famous we can be married for a few weeks. Maybe if I actually knew your name other than "#1 SledgeHead" it would be a different story... haha. I think waiting until you actually personally know someone is the best way to get married, oui?
Y'all keep reading and I'll keep delivering. Glad to have such awesome fans!
