After being on the computer for only a little while, every page instantly reads "Page cannot be displayed", everything is as though I was offline. I think someone sent me a virus, or something to that affect. It gets in the way of everything. I can't send people my bands songs, download much off the internet, and most importantly school work (In college, a lot of assignments are online). I can't even give or ask for advice, this is the second time I tried. My family isn't extremely poor, but we are in debt. We can't afford to buy another computer, this one is new anyway. I have downloaded ad-aware, but it can't seem to find the problem. I also downloaded something with the word "spy" in it, and that froze everything. I can't buy anything to help, my mother refuses to let my buy anything through the internet. It gets worse all the time, now it freezes every once in a while, preventing me from even getting online. I clean it often, and defrag it every onece in a while. Any solution to this problem would be much appreciated.

*good luck*

selectopaque answered Thursday July 15 2004, 11:42 am: You shouldn't be downloading so many things. That thing that had spy in it was probably something really bad. My roommate is a computer expert, he gets payed about $100 an hour to fix peoples computers, and he has always told me, and my other roommate to never download things off the internet because he's the one we go to when something happens. If a pop up comes up and tells you to download something to help your computer, it's usually a lie. Go to settings, then, control panel, then add/remove programs. Then remove EVERYTHING that you don't absolutely need. If you dont' know what it is, then it's probably not needed. [ selectopaque's advice column | Ask selectopaque A Question ]
Roxybabii922 answered Thursday July 15 2004, 3:24 am: Run Norton Anti-Virus it will automatically delete the viruses or put them into quarantine.. If you dont have the newest version of norton then you need to download the newer version of it... You don't buy it, you already have Norton on your computer it comes with it, you just have to get it started.. [ Roxybabii922's advice column | Ask Roxybabii922 A Question ]
iLjaG answered Thursday July 15 2004, 1:48 am: Update Ad-aware, that could be a problem. Download AVG Virus scanner at a freinds house and burn it to disc and install it on your computer. I had a similar problem, and all of those things helped. [ iLjaG's advice column | Ask iLjaG A Question ]
