It's probably just a cover up, if hes flirty with you and he tells them you're his cousin he probably doesnt want them to know because it might get back to his girl..

Maybe he doesn't want people to think he's cheating on his girlfriend. If he likes you, you don't have long to wait until he dumps his girlfriend and asks you out. Then he'll get his payback, when people start asking him, why is he going out with his cousin?
