What to Give?

Question Posted Saturday December 13 2003, 10:50 am

One of my best friends is a hacker-gamer who, I suppose, can get anything he wants. He's a loner and a cranky brilliant sort of guy. Thing is, I dont know what to give him for Yuletide giving--it's illegal for me to buy a gun, even though that would please him, and I can't afford a motorcycle. I want to give him something good. Anyone have any suggestions?

Therapy. If he is a loner and brilliant then get him out and take him somewhere. Rarely do people choose to be alone. They usually have self-esteem problems that drive them away from people. Get him out and help him get a life and start living.

Since it's illegal for YOu to buy a gun, why don't you see if the place at which it would be purchased offers gift certificates. That way, you can get one in the amount of the gun you think he may want, and HE can go buy it. But hell, you can't go wrong with a motorcylcle :)
Now THAT'S what I call a best friend.

Those are the hardest type to shop for... you have to really pay attention to the things he says for any “I wants" or "I wish" a good idea? A bunch of blank cd's and disks to say all the wonderful games he's hacked ;) I think that would suit him... get the ones with cases though...

I'd find out his preferred caffeine delivery method... if he's a coffee fiend, a stovetop espresso thing and some good organic/fair trade espresso coffee will set you back something like $40 Canadian. If he's a sweet, fizzy caffeine type, maybe a few bottles of Bawls, some ice packs and a little insulated lunchbag (in black or camouflage, of course) would be good.

I know it's unfair to stereotype hacker/gamers as caffeine hounds, but it's a good stab in the dark...

You dont HAVE to give him a gift if you dont want to unless he gives you one. Try asking him what he wants. For a joke maybe you could get him a little squirt gun. Or just give him a nice holiday card with your name and something nice to say.
