I so want to travel to atypical countries for vacation. I'd rather go to India than France or England, Africa than Cancun, Cambodia than Japan, the Philipines than Australia.
Any suggestions? Where would a good place to go be? What might I need to be aware of before I go to such places?
Kira_Valoka answered Thursday October 16 2003, 8:16 pm: Andorra. It's between France and Spain. Small country. Skiing mostly. NO TELEMARKETERS. No airports either--you either have to drive or bus in from France or Spain. Did I mention no telemarketers?
Oh, you'll need to speak French, Spanish, OR Catalan. otherwise, you're good to go--but pack WARM CLOTHES. [ Kira_Valoka's advice column | Ask Kira_Valoka A Question ]

I myself have not traveled that much. But it's always a good idea to talk to either someone who has lived there and/or been there before. Also, traveling with someone else or in a (small) group makes a good time even better. As long as you choose your company wisely. [ MissNiceness's advice column | Ask MissNiceness A Question ]

Why, both La Paz and Caracas are chock full 'o adventure and surprises around every turn. And by all means, do not overlook the Phillipines. A good friend of mine got to witness his cousins go beat up squatters in the family warehouses... great fun.
Remember, renting cars in these places can be risky, as there is the chance that your car will be blown up by whatever faction is fighting that particular day. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
