roseyapple answered Tuesday January 15 2013, 6:49 pm: There are only very brief parts of the bible that supposedly condemn homosexuality, but it depends on a person's interpretation of it.
"Man shall not lye with another man as he does with a woman."...Obviously if it is not in his sexual preference and he is forced to share a bed with one or the other he would lye quite differently, different people will interpret it differently its what we do.
Also the bible was translated from a different language so there is also the chance that a lot of the bible is based on educational guessing.
Most Christians believe that sex must only be used for reproduction and therefore any sex that is not for that purpose is sinful regardless to if it is two men, two women or a man and a woman who are not yet ready to have children. [ roseyapple's advice column | Ask roseyapple A Question ]

Among them would be the stance on homosexuality. We have only recently come to the conclusion, scientifically that homosexuality is not an illness or a choice. It is how they are born. Just because people of the same sex cannot procreate does not make it a sin to be together.
When it comes to procreation. The bible says sex is a sin unless it is purpose of procreating.
So go figure. Being straight is okay but sex is only to reproduce. Being gay is wrong mainly as I see it because gay people can't reproduce. The logic escapes me. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Friday January 11 2013, 6:57 am: The Bible does say that it's a sin: the most often quoted is Leviticus 20:13.
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
Why is it a sin? Keep in mind that the social structure and legal system were very different at the time the Bible was written. There are lots of great lessons to be learned from the Bible, but they're mostly found in the New Testament, which focuses more on a message of love: this is an Old Testament verse. I'm saying this as an atheist who has read both books cover to cover, by the way.
Here are some other fun things that were covered in the Old Testament:
- Lot and his daughters are hiding in a cave, and the daughters get him drunk and have their way with him (great family values!)
- A woman on her period is unclean, and anything she touches is also unclean.
- Lots of rules on clothing: no blended fibres, you have to have fringes on your clothes, and cross-dressing is strictly out.
- Disobedient sons are to be stoned to death at the village gates. Guess you'd better clean your room?
You see, it was a very different time and place. Laws have changed so much since then that it only makes sense to re-evaluate our views on homosexuality. We know a lot more now than we did then. Most religious people know this, but some like to cherry-pick from the Bible to find fuel for their bigotry. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
solidadvice4teens answered Friday January 11 2013, 12:05 am: You already do understand. People are born that way even if religious folk think otherwise. It's NOT something a person chooses to be. It's just who they are and it's okay. The whole sin thing is the belief some in society hold that relationships, sexual activity, marriage should be between man/woman. MandaBear answered Thursday January 10 2013, 11:16 pm: I personally do not believe so. If you are apart of a certain religion and you feel as if others are judging you based on your sexual preferance, then maybe that religion isn't for you. Why would you want to be apart of a group that hates you for who you are and the very thing that defines you as a person? I am assuming that you were raised christian? Or that there are people who hold christian values that told you being gay is a sin? If so, a part of these christian values are to not judge others. Love everyone because they are all Gods children. Also to not hate the person who has sinned but hate the sin itself. If you are gay I would distance yourself from these people saying this to you. Just let yourself know that there is nothing wrong with you and no one has the right to make you feel bad about your own personal choices. There are 29 references to being homosexual in the bible [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) this link will show you what they are since they are too long to write here. Overall I do not believe that homosexuality is a sin. According to the bible it is but only if you act upon homosexual urges not just to be homosexual.
