Sometimes when I mess up on the littlest thing or I don't get my way, I get really sad and upset, and I don't understand why. Even while I'm upset I tell myself, "This doesn't make sense to be upset now" but I get upset anyways and I don't get out of my mood until I get something new or I find something to do that interests me. I really hate getting mood swings. Is there a way to knock myself out of these moods? Are they even natural?

If you get these all the tie, you may be acutely depressed..but not enough to make you crazy! To get rid of these, dont lock yourself into activities so much, so if you mess up it means nothing! Also, dont try to worry so much about something your doing (in the beginning) or take breaks from something. For you not getting your way, if you dont, alternate what you want so that you can somewhat compromise to get something close to the original item! Need more info? I know this was vague, ask me more if you need it, but with detail hun!

x_mystery answered Thursday June 9 2005, 11:02 am: I've got the same thing sometimes. Its natural, its just part of being a teen. If your mood swings are really severe though, like if you can go from having the time of your life to wanting to kill yourself, then I suggest going to the psychiatrist - you could have something called Bi-Polar disorder. If not, then its just normal, and when you get in a bad mood, just remember that you always have those moodswings and its okay to be upset, just don't take it out on other people. Teza answered Wednesday June 8 2005, 11:51 pm: I get them a lot too but you have to do something that will cheer you up. Do something fun. You could be Bipolar. You would have to take a pill for that tho. But a lot of people get stressed out and everything. Just try to relax. Good luck. ex__oOh ♥ [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
charmed3fanatic answered Wednesday June 8 2005, 11:35 pm: it depends if they are natural or not... you have to ask yourself some questions like
- am i going to get my period (if you are a girl)
- is there any sense in being sad
- and others
if you are a girl and are aobut to get your period then yes, they are natural but if not.. then i think you may have a problem... and you need to see a doctor.. you could be bypolar etc. so make sure you consult a doctor if this keeps on going on... hope i helped...
Michele answered Wednesday June 8 2005, 10:18 pm: Well mood swings could be caused by a chemical imbalance. It is possible, hormones are the worst. You might want to try some natural supplements like St. Johns Wort or L-Theanine. Both are all natural from plants and are safe to take. Both are often prescribed in England and Europe for mild depression. Look them up on the internet you will see.
You can get them at any health food store. Probably not at a drug store.
You are correct to believe that it does not make sense and if you keep "self medicating" yourself with "new things" each time you are in a bad mood, you are setting yourself up to become a shopaholic. And that is no joke. they end up in bankruptcy court and with ruin credit. Please save yourself from this painful situation.
The other thing that ALWAYS makes me feel better is exercise, with weights.
