Q: my friends computer is screwy. when she tries to boot it up it beeps loadly in succesion and says Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\ntoskrnl.exe
now ive tried doing both setup and recovery both lead to the same message. i also tried using a boot disk and it still showed me that. there is no recovery CD because its all on the D drive but i dont have access to it. its on windows XP by the way.

I GOTTA ANSWER. NTOSKRNL.exe is a bootscreen\ windows load file. its the ting that gives u the windows logo @ start up.
k 1st i need 2 know wut u got. DO u have a windows XP instalation disk. or any os install disk. if u do, do this. Turn on ur comp , put it in the cd drive, and restart then let it read the disk and push ok when it asks u if u wanna boot from it. then itll load a bunch of crap k. then u selec the recovery console NOT INSTALL WINDOWS K
then it'll ask u which windows install u wanna log into press 1. then type ur administrator password. then when u get in do this , type chkdsk C:
