i recently got two dwarf hamsters, and the female, i think it is a female, which i had for two days, is now hiding in a part of a maze i got for them, she hasn't been exersing much, and i feel she maybe sick. i have already seperated the male from the cage when i first thought that she might be sick or pregnant. she is very hard to coach out of that part of the maze, and when she isn't in there she is laying in her spot in the cage or briefly nawing on some food then back to her spot, this started about4 hours ago. if the symptoms sound like anything that you might reconize (link)

Most likely, it is nervousness (?) of course, hamsters are nocturnal, so you probably won't see much activity during the day unless you wake them up.
My sister had a similar problem with her new hamster that she got about a month (?) ago...she would run all over her cage when my mom tried to pick her up, and sqealed and almost got away a couple times. Just stroke her gently and hold her for increasing longer amounts of time, and if it doesn't work at first, just let her get used to her new surroundings before you try anything too major (tip: hamsters LOVE lettuce/carrots etc!)
My sister's hamster took a week or two for it to calm down...and she still sqeaks a little but doesn't squirm so much. Good luck!!

I have a problem with my cat eating wet food. She won't eat it, but she will lick the juice/sauce up from it. However she has no problem eating dry food. She'll eat 1/2 cup of it within a day. But I want to know why she will not eat her wet food. I have tried just every kind of wet food out there. But nothing worked. What could I do to solve this or fix this? Or should I just forget it and leave her with just dry food?
But just a note I really want her to eat wet food because it's nutritious and has important ingredients in there that aren't contained in dry food.
And because of this my cat is pretty skinny -- only three pounds.
If it helps, my cat is approximately 7 months old (older kitten).
Thanks in advance! (link)

Try mashing the wet food, and mixing dry food with it. cutting it up may help with a kitten.
Feeding it treats may also help with putting on weight.
Of course, the person who would have the best advice is a vet. if my first idea doesn't work, take your kitty to a vet, and get his/her advice =)
hope i helped!!!

Okay, to start things off, my cat is a little on the weird side. She doesn't sit on people's laps or anything. She's just ... weird. But my problem is, my cat won't poop in her litter box. She'll pee in it, but she won't poop in it.
my two questions are
1. What's the cause of this?
2. How can I fix it.
If this helps, she is 9/f, a purebred persian, & we live in Georgia. Oh & i've had her since I was 2
Thanks! (link)

Depending on how often you scoop the litter box, you may need to scoop it every day/every other day, if you haven't been scooping it that often. Cats hate to be dirty. My cat had the same problem. If you got another cat, you may need another litter box, because you are supposed to have one for every cat and 1 more. If you don't have another cat, you may want to see the vet for tips and professional advice.
As for the not sitting on laps, If your cat wasn't handled much during the first few weeks of life, then she wouldn't be very willing. DO NOT try to force your cat to sit on your lap. Also, not all cats like to sit on their owner's laps. Let your cat come up to you by itsself. if it does jump up on a chair/couch with you, praise it and pet it, and maybe even give it a treat. Pet your cat a lot, but don't use force. Eventually, your cat may become more social.
The problems may appear more also because your cat is gettin older. One of my cats wouldn't use the litter box because she had an infection, so we took her to the vet and she got better. Then she started up again not using it, so we got anoher litter box.
HOpe my advice will help!

First things frist: make sure you have plenty of hamster food, make sure it has plenty of fresh water to drink. Clean its cage every few weeks by replacing the bedding and washing the cage where it uses the bathroom, if possible, or just sprinkly some baking soda over the spot(s). For the bedding, ask the person at the pet store what kind of bedding is best for hamsters.
Play with your hamster in the evening so it will get used to you. Don't play with it for a very logn time, 15 minutes per night at most, especially when they are still little. buy some hamster treats, and be sure to read and see how many per day you should give them. They love to chew on toliet paper rolls, so put one in.
