First of all, let me clear the air. Im a sexually active 20 year old, Ive never been married, and I personally see nothing wrong with premarital sex, or sex in general.
But.
I have many friends who are Christian or Catholic, and they are (in my opinion) anywhere from sexually repressed at best, to afraid of and disgusted by sex at worst.
I cant really talk to most of them about it, simply because its a very uncomfortable subject. So I pose the question to the masses. For those of you who are religious, what are your views on sex, and why?
Thought provoking answers might get my screen name for further discussion, if you like. Any answers that sound something like
"ur crazy! Sex is uber cool! I LOVE SEX AND THERS NOTHIN WRONG WITH IT!! hope I helped plz rate"
or outright flames will get a 1. (link)

Well i'm a Christian so maybe you'll consider my opinion. I believe that sex before marriage is wrong and a sin. I know that God has specifically outlawed premarital sex because it's not honoring the body God has given us. It's not like we're afraid of sex or whatever, it's that we're trying to honor God by doing what He's told us to do. So that's my view. I don't mind having discussions either about it. Hope i helped!!!

hi. i read another question on here about heaven and for the Christians out there..what does it take to be in heaven? i go to church, i try to be nice to people, and i pray daily but how do i know if im doing enough? =( (link)
|
Everybody does have a different view but that doesn't mean they're necessarily right. Works aren't enough and i think by feeling this way, God's really trying to tell you that He wants everything. He wants you to COMPLETELY trust in him. No amount of praying or church can get you to Heaven. Praying is talking to God and like having a conversation. Having a conversation with somebody can't make you go to Heaven. Going to church is how we worship God and think about Him. That's just a result of being saved or born again. When i was 11 i started worrying about that too. I felt like i seriously wasn't going to Heaven. But after talking to God about it, i knew that i had to put my trust in Him. That i couldn't save myself and after that, i knew i had to have faith that He said if we call on His name, He will save us. If you haven't asked God to save your sins, then yes, you're going to hell whether you're a praying, church-going person. That's why Jesus died for us in the first place, so we could have access to Heaven. But we have to ask for forgiveness of our sins and then ,"we'll be made whole." Just start talking to God one-on-one about what you need to do. He wont ignore you. I know some of what i said sounds really harsh, but I'm a Christian and i want to tell you how it is so you can fix this and feel right about it. Just pray about it, okay? Hope i helped and God bless!!!

I have a friend, well he's actually a sisters friend, but I would also consider him my friend and I'm sure he would do the same. He's in 9th grade and I'm in 10th. One day while we were out we were on the topic of God and he said he didnt believe in God. He says he thinks Jesus existed but that he was just a normal guy. He said if God existed then he wouldn't have diabetes.
Now I want to educate him about God and help him accept him into his life. I feel it is my duty as a Christian to guide him to a better life with God, because you are supposed to help the people who don't believe. He is a really sweet boy, and I told him that I was going to teach him and he said "you can try but it won't happen" so if he said I could try I'm going to make every effort too!
My problem is I don't know how to approach it. How should I start off with this teaching and showing? I've considered asking my pastor but I decided to come here first. Thanks for any help! (link)
|
First of all, it's great that he said you can try to teach him. Use that as encouragement for yourself because alot of people just don't want to hear it.
I'm a Christian too if you're wondering. I think to get through to this guy, you first have to get him to believe that Jesus didn't give him diabetes. That everything happens for a purpose, rather good or bad and everybody has to go through bad times. I think if you can get that across you can start talking more about God's grace and his saving power. But don't over pressure this guy, ya know? Take things slow so you dont run him away. Also, it's a great idea to talk to your pastor or to your youth pastor if you have one. They could probably get you some books on this and some stuff to give to him. I know my church buys stuff for their youth to give to friends so that's a great resource. Well, just read through all that advice and hopefully it makes sense. Good luck and God bless ya!!!

You said that religions are all centered around the idea of a supreme being, but this is not so. Some forms of Buddhism are atheistic, in fact. The only belief, then, that seems to bind religions is the belief in "the spirit" or "the soul". I could be wrong, but it seems to me that most religions hold some sort of belief about the mind coming from "the soul".
This isn't really a question, so feel free not to answer it. Just thought I'd chime in. (link)
|
Since that wasn't a question, then i won't call this an answer, just a reply. I'm sorry if i was wrong about Buddhism but i don't believe in any aspect of it. You're right saying alot of religions have to do with the soul. Everybody has one even if you don't believe that. Why be in a religion that's atheistic? Personally, to me that makes no sense. I'm a Christian because i believe in God and His Supreme Being over me. But religion requires a lot of faith. That's something you have to agree on there. If you read the Bible, it could totally answer alot of your questions. I'm not gonna try and convert you exactly. But you know what i believe in and i'm strictly going to enforce that. Any more questions/comments you have i'd love to talk. If you want, my sn is the same as my columnist name. Hope i helped!!!

im 13/m, and im from the middle east, and my family follows the religion Islam. from time to time, im not sure if i completly believe in the ways of Islam. Sometimes im positive that there can't be a God, other times it's the other way around. But besides believing in God, i also find other things i disagree with about the Islam religion. I'm starting to be interested in Buddhism, and I like how the religion is set around believing whatever you want to believe, but i don't know how to tell my parents this, being that they are kind of religious. I'm also not sure if im too young to change my choice of religion.
sorry if its long. ill rate 5's. (link)

First of all, you are old enough to think for yourself. You have your own opinions so you can decide. I'm a Christian so let me explain a little on Christianity. Islam, if i'm correct, centers around getting to paradise through good works. Christianity is nothing like that. Jesus Christ came to earth and died on the cross for everybody's sins. He did that so we wouldn't have to work to get to Heaven. If we call on His name and trust him to save us from ETERNAL hell, He'll save us right then!!! We don't have to be perfect to get to paradise and be rewarded. But God does want us to try to be just like Him. That's why we read the Bible. The Bible is where God explains what he hates about sin and which ones he despises. Like murder for instance. He also teaches us on how to be more like him. Buddhism sounds cool because it is basically what you want. But that doesn't make sense. Religions are all centered around a supreme higher being, like God for example. Well, i hope i helped ya. If you have any questions at all, feel free to send one to the inbox. I'll pray for you!!!

hey...well within the last year i have become christian. but lately i have been having my doubts. i have depression, and have had it for about 2 years now. i pray so much but i dont seem to be making any progress to becoming happier. i dont understand why my prayers arent getting answered. (link)
|
I'M A CHRISTIAN!!! so no way am i gonna tell you He isn't real, because He is!!! Wow, i'm soo happy you're part of the family, but about your question. I understand going through that depression. I did too for about a year and i prayed and got mad at God alot because i felt like He was totally ignoring me. But the best thing about Him is, everything that goes on in our lives is seen by Him. Everything has a purpose. God is always nearby and listening. And alot of times, He doesn't answer prayers immediately. One of the fruits of the spirit is patience. He wants to develop in us a patience and a strong faith. Just keep believing and praying because He hears everything and will never leave you!!! I know it's soo hard to think you're not getting anywhere, believe me, i totally understand. But even though you can't see it, God is working through this. Keep reading your Bible. Try Proverbs or Matthew. Those are my two favorite books. But keep praying too. I hope i seriously helped. If you need, my sn is my columnist name. Feel free to talk to me anytime about this. I'd luv to help ya!!!

Hi. I'm a 16 year old girl and I have a huge problem. I often times wonder about God. I'm sure that I believe in him but at times I have doubts...is that normal? And also, is it true that God has a plan for everyone and some people are bound to go to hell? (link)
|
I'm 15/f and sometimes i get mad at God and wish he didn't exist. But he does. Have you ever heard of predestination??? It's where God knows who will go to heaven and who will go to hell. He 'foreordains' it meaning he's planned it. God wants nobody to go to hell but many reject him and his mercy. God does have a plan for everybody whether Christian or non-Christian. And yes, people are going to go to hell if they don't accept him as their Lord and Savior. But Christianity is faith. Faith means believing in the unknown so yes, it's definitely hard to believe in Him through certain circumstances. But He's still there always beside you. Don't give up because God knows what He's doing in your life and you just gotta believe in Him. His wrath will be taken out on sinners but as Christians we dont' have to worry because our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, as in we are God's children for good now. God is love and fair. So don't worry but God does exist. Look around at the world and really ask how anything could exist without a superior Creator in charge. Hope i helped!!!

You cant get into heaven by works alone...you must be a child of God.

First of all, i congratulate your great spirit when you pray for your friends!!! That's awesome and it does work so rest in Him. Try seeing your friend in person so she can't reject you. Tell her how she's making you feel and that you really want this friendship to work. If she's anything of a good friend, then i'm sure she'll atleast listen and try to understand. Sometimes people get caught up in what they're doing in the summer and they kinda forget about the whole email thing. So don't go off and accuse her which i'm sure you arent!!! lol If things still dont work out after everything, just try to meet some new people because its always great to make new friends. Just be patient and all with time!!!

why are christians so afraid to share there faith! im a christian and im not afraid at all. why cant the "christians" who wont die for God stop calling themselves christians! (link)
|
I understand your frustrations. I'm a Christian too who went to private school for nine years. Everybody was really sheltered and weren't around any unbelievers. I think that's why. They never experienced meeting somebody different. Like a goth, gay, or other kind of people. I managed to witness a little but i wasn't really used to it. Im about to go into my second year of public school and i'm getting better at it. Some people who say they're Christians arent. So get used to that. But for those who you know for sure are Christians maybe just haven't faced situations like you. Give them some time and you'll see. You just do your part for our Heavenly Father and He will see to the rest. God Bless!!!

when i woke up i couldnt remember my dream at all but i just knew that someone had died in it, i dont know how i knew but i did or i felt it.
then that afternoon my mum told me it was the aniversery of my grandads death. do you think it was him telling me something or watching over me or just a coincidence? (link)
|
I think your dream was just a coincidence. Don't make something out of it that you're not supposed to. Your dream could have been a result from something you watched or read lately. The timing just happened to be that day. Ironic yes, but pure coincidental.
