I am a Christian, and I love giving advice, so you can be anonymous or not, I would just love to hear from you! My friends tell me that I am a great person to come to for advice. I seem to know just what to say. I don't know. =) I love listening to people and problems. I just don't like being in the middle of them; I do choose sides if I absolutely have to. I want to be a Social worker or a counseling Psychologist someday. I am a senior in high school, and I start college in August of '06. I'm in band, and choir. I play French horn and sing alto. I have been through a lot with friends/family and even though I haven't, I feel like I've seen it all, so I hope I can help!

I am looking for a religion but I want one thats right for me. Can someone tell me every religion out there and what its about? Also for religions that require you to go to church is it possible to just stay home and do what you would at a church and still have it not be a sin? (link)
I personally am a Christian. Not going to church isn't necessarily a sin. We are asked to encourage each other and build each other up. You can't encourage others of your faith if you don't go unless maybe you attend a Christian club at school, or organization in town such as Young Life. There is so much that comes with being a Christian. We believe in one God. That he sent his son through the virgin Mary, and that he lived a perfect life because God is perfect, and his son is perfect to set an example of how a person should live. His son lived to die so that we may be saved for our sins because we are sinful. We just strive to be Christ-like. We take communion with what is referred to as "wine" (today it is non-alcoholic or 100% grape juice, churches vary) and the "unleavened bread" bread w/ no yeast so crackers. Jesus said the bread represents his body, and the wine represents the blood he shed to die on the Cross. We believe in baptism; baptism in greek means immersion (going completely under water and back up) to represent his death and resurrection. He arose 3 days after his death and lived 40 days before going back to heaven to prove that his prophecy was true. To be saved, you must repent and be baptized, and then strive to live like Christ. We pray to God through Christ. I believe because everything in this world that he created was put together perfectly...God promises to come back someday (the rapture) when we least expect it, and then we will be judged. Those that are FAITHFUL Christians will live eternally w/ Him in heaven. Those that didn't, will be condemned. I could say more...but I'll need a response. Let me know if you have any questions. :-D I hope that gave you an idea of Christianity. Oh yeah, and God is forgiving, but it is best to ask for forgiveness of sins if you are sincere, and loves you because you are His. He created you. You can screw up endlessly but he will always love you. It doesn't mean that there won't be consequences. I would LOVE to tell you more if you are interested!

I am a Christian and I believe in God... I love God. It's just that more and more I feel I'm drifting away from my Lord. Sometimes I'll pray and promise God I will pray more and talk to him more, but I either forget to and rarely but sometimes I will say in my head, "I need to pray," but then I don't(purposely).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get closer to God, or ways to strengthen my relationship with the Lord? I don't want to be this way... but when it comes to praying...I just don't. Any ideas? Express your feelings! Thank you so much! (link)
I know how you are feeling. You shouldn't make promises to God though because God knows you aren't perfect. You know you aren't perfect, and you are going to fail. God is not only your father, but he is also your friend. Would you consider someone you hardly ever talk to your friend, or would they consider you a friend? You can't be a friend to someone that you don't talk to. I mean, it's basically impossible. God wants us to talk to him. You don't have to be like "Dear Lord, thank you for this, this and this, forgive me...blah blah blah." Not everyone is comfortable with that. If setting time aside to talk to him is a problem...make it an ongoing process. Don't stop the conversation. Start the day with it, keep it going off and on through out the day when you think of something...and end it when you fall asleep. Keep your prayer an ongoing conversation with God. You know he's listening to you. Read the bible...psalms, proverbs, Romans...anything...sometimes it's hard to find the will to do that...but pray that he'll work on your heart and then you'll want to know more. That's how you grow. Maybe you can find a calender or something with a verse a day, and apply it. Good luck and I hope this helps.

does anyone kno a good web site with some bible verses or a place where i can search bible verses and dont tell me google cause i already looked and didn't do any help

(link)
You can google search but type in bible verses online or online bible or something to that extent. I think there is a good site with the words "bible gateway" or something. I hope that works. I'll look myself and get back to you. :) Good luck and I hope that helped!
(just looked, and it's www.biblegateway.com)

how can I start lucid dreaming? (being able to know and be aware that your dreaming) it seems really interesting and i really wanna learn. websites etc.
all 5's (link)
I'm taking psychology, and the best way to remember your dreams is keep a pen and paper by your bed and as soon as you wake up, write down what you remember. But, this isn't gauranteed, it's just the best way. If you can, remember anything said specifically, people in the dream and surroundings. I hope I helped!

I am a Christian who doesn't go to church. I pray every night and believe that Jesus died for our sins and that God exists.
My question is that why do so many other Christians put down other ones that don't go to church? I have a relationship with God, too! Thanks. (link)
It is good that you have a relationship w/ God and that you pray and believe strongly. But that's not all Christianity is about. You go to church to encourage other Christians. Sure, there are Christians at school, and that's cool too, but it's wonderful to worship w/ people, and praise God. Hebrews 10:25 says "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." We are also to commune with each other. Even though no church is perfect, you generally learn new points of view on what is said in the bible and it can challenge you as a Christian, and I don't mean challenge as in like a test. Just something you might learn to strengthen your relationship w/ God. If you have any more questions so I don't say to much here, feel free to ask! I hope I helped a little bit. Good luck, and I hope that you consider trying different churches someday, and maybe after that you'll find the right place for you.

Fellow atheists: I have a friend who is a militant Christian, meaning, she thinks it's her job to convert everyone who isn't Christian into one, including me. She knows I'm atheist, but it really bothers me when she tells me that I'm going to hell for not believing in Christian ways. I've told her many times that I don't believe in a god, afterlife, or book of worship. Yet, she still has the nerve to constantly bring up "god" and how I NEED to be a Christian. Other than that, she's cool. Are there any ideas on how to get through to her that I really don't want her help when it comes to religion? I'm going to snap if she comments to me one more time. I am a Christian, so I can see where your friend is coming from. Her beliefs in God and wanting to see you become a Christian, she has the best for you at heart. I don't know why you don't believe in God or details or anything. Just realize your friend just cares about you a lot. Keep reminding yourself of that. And who knows maybe one day, you'll change your mind, as of right now you may say no...that will NEVER in a life time happen, but just think, many ppl say that and then it happens. Good luck w/ your friend. That's a tough one.

One of my best friends is a guy and he's in color guard. People don't understand it and think the same thing sometimes, but he has some awesome friends in guard and he enjoys himself. You may not enjoy it as much as he does but it could lead you to great times, or a better decision. Don't worry about what other people think if you really want to do it. Give it to God.
