about

As John Lennon once said, "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans." So true.

Giving advice is sort of second nature to me. I use to have a column on here but ended up deleting it. Now once again I have decided to give advice again. I value people and their problems and try to help them the best I can.

No question is a silly question. Every question has importance. I sometimes feel like some of my questions I want to ask are viewed as pointless but have comed to realize that this isn't entirely true.

My biggest pet peeves are bad spelling, grammar and punctuation. It's silly, but I mean it's not that difficult to tell the difference between you're and your. Or even their, they're and there. No offense if you do any of this, but we learned all of these when we were younger in 5th grade (give or take).

Personally one of my favorite quote is by Eleanor Roosevelt. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
If only people would truly realize this, the world would be so much happier.

so a couple years ago i was on the slimfast diet i was exercising too much and wounded up in the hospital for not eating enough. now, im back on the diet because i wanna loose a couple of pounds for hawaii. right now, im not losing the weight but i thinknits cause im doing weights and such. although, if i ndont exercise for one day and i eat a piece of chocolate i find my day being ruined and i consistley eat. what can i do to stop this?? am i not eating enough? i weigh 138 and im 5'9 i wanna be 130. although i do have a lot of muscle. let me know what is going on? is my binging and eating disorder comng back?! thanks ill rate goood!!

You're eating emotionally, which ultimately leads up to the binge. It's sort of like a mind game you're playing with yourself right now (I've been there believe me). I'm 5'9" just like you so I'm assuming you look fine even at 138. It's probably more of the mind set you've had from your old eating disorder.

To be completely honest with you doing weights won't make you gain a huge amount of weight. If you gain anything it'd probably be muscle(which takes time to build). If you do weights and a cardio routine of jogging, running, biking, what have you, you'll be okay since you're getting more physically active. You shouldn't be doing any extreme dieting or exercise it's not worth it in the end.

I can't tell you if you're eating enough or not. You should eat a good amount of protein (found in meats like beef, chicken, turkey), eggs, diary and peanut butter. Eating vegetables and fruits help provide vitamins and nutrients. Plus whole grains help too (which you can get from cereals like Kashi or breads that say whole grain on the label).

If you're drinking a lot of water by the way, the weight you're not losing could be water weight from water retention.

For your mindset stay positive and think healthy. Don't get caught up in the trap of feeling guilty if you don't work out one day or even eat a piece of chocolate. Sometimes the day off is necessary for our bodies to stay strong, and the piece of chocolate can help us keep sane on a diet.

Good luck, and if you need anything message me.

I need to lose about 40 pounds and want to try NutriSystem. have any of you been on it and do you like the food? NutriSystem is the cheapest compared to Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers.

Any insight on N.S?

I tried NurtriSystem in the past, before I actually followed my own diet which incorporated some of Weight Watchers idea.

Honestly I hated NutriSystem. To me the food was bland, not good at all, and very tasteless. Some of the meals that were suppose to be "pasta" were like cardboard. Plus the "steak" even on the commercial looks like a meat patty, not even a steak.

Jenny Craig from what my mom told me- is that the food is better b than NutriSystem. It offers a more extensive and variety of food than NutriSystem. (NutriSystem has these chocolate things for desserts while Jenny Craig offers you a small sized chocolate cake).

Jenny Craig does cost more but I think it's a "You get what you pay for" type of situation. If you want try NutriSystem, see if you like it, and then maybe try Jenny Craig.

I wish you the best of luck on your weight loss journey.

I'm always hungry before I go to bed. I eat my meals and snacks throughout the day, but I always get hungry around 9 pm. I can control my hunger, but what would be the best thing to do? Would it be unhealthy or unsafe to not eat before you sleep? Or should I eat crackers or something? I'm on a diet also. Thanks!

I was watching Oprah at one point when Bob Greene (her trainer) was on. He said that you really should try not to eat 2-3 hours before bed. I aim for that. I do sometimes get a little hungry before bed though I'll admit so usually I'll eat a piece of fruit or drink skim milk. It helps fill your stomach up and avoids the hungry feeling. (Bob Greene also recommended that)

Hope this helps you. :)

ok so ive gotten like a billion emails about this hoodia thing. it seems like it really works and i want to lose some weight so does anyone know if it works? has anyone tried it? pros cons?
thankyou

Don't buy into the hype of hoodia pills. It's not worth buying them to lose weight. The ads make them look good and such, but don't waste your money. You'll get hooked on them eventually and some diet pills can cause a heart attack.

Lose weight the proper way.

Hope this helps.

i do not eat red meat red meat or pig.
i was a vegetarian [1 year] but then i switched to
just staying away from red meat/pork about, 6 months ago . and about a couple times a week i will eat chicken or fish maybe.

what are some good recipes to get protein, and feel refreashed and not sleepy all the time.
i know i dont get enough protein.
how can i change this without changing
me eating red meat or pork. and keeping the

what are some good ways to feel full
and not just eat carbs the whole day?

I don't eat red meat or pork either and the way I keep up with having protein is with chicken, turkey, peanut butter and mixed nuts surprisingly. Have a few mixed nuts like almonds and walnuts throughout the day. You can toss them in salads and ton of other foods so you could have protein. As a snack during the day you can cut up an apple and take some peanut to spread on the apple as a snack. It's another way to have protein while eating fruit.

To feel full during the day drink a lot of water. For me it keeps me feeling full without hunger for some reason. Also it's recommended that you eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Eating the 2 snacks will help you stay full during the day, keep up your metabolism and not over eat during meals. For the snacks you could have yogurt and granola, and even the apple with peanut butter for protein.

I hope this helps you. :)

i sweat a lot on a daily basis, and i've tried every deodorant out there and Certain Dri , as well as Secret Clinical strength .... nothing seems to work! What produces this sweat.. i sweat by just sitting doing nothing at all..

I can relate, big time. And I've tried both. I actually like Secret Clinical Strength. Anyways, try showering in the morning instead of at night if that's what you're doing. It'll help by working with the deodorant, instead of sweating throughout the night after a shower which is usually peoples downfall.

I pair Secret Clinical Strength (after shower) and Dove Ultra Sheer (throughout the day).
When you're home try reapplying your deodorant to prevent sweat. And drink plenty of water. Usually sweat is a sign of dehydration. Also stay cool, and calm. Usually me freaking out and being warm from heat makes me sweat.

Hope this helps and good luck.
