Q: I just got a cell phone and I wanted a website with some cute or funny answering messages for my voicemail. ( I don`t want the typical, Hello This is ____ Fone leave a message) I`ll Rate 5's for good sites :)

well i dont know any websites but my sister had one like "hey, this is ******" pause so that people think you answered the phone and then "im not here right now so leave a message" i thought that was HILARIOUS!! or you could do something funny like "hey this is _______ im not here but if you tell me your favorite cereal ill call you back" or try playing music before you leave your voicemail thing. and lastly, you have to smile. I know, it sounds so simple but say the following sentence aloud: "leave a message and ill call you back."
Ok, now say the following sentence WITH A SMILE: "leave a message and ill call you back!"
ok, did that make you feel stupid? Maybe, but did it sound totally different? Probably. it will make your callers actually feel your smile through the phone!!!
let me know what you come up with

Q: Can i ask seriously. When people come on this. Do they answer questions genuinely to help people and hopefully help them through a tough patch or whatever; or do they do it for ratings? It makes me mad when you see a confused person askin a serious question; only for it to be answered by someone. Who at the end makes it obvious(or seemingly) that they don't care byu saying "please rate"Ok i know they jus want acknowledgement and appreciation. But if the person is willing to or want to im sure they will. Why do you ask or say things like this? I really don't know so any answers are appreciated.

Q: Ok, well my mom has REALLY bad mood swings when she's not on her PAXIL! and sometimes even when she is on it she completely loses her mind and cant control her temper. This ususally happens about once every month or two. But today she got upset because i didnt clean my room and she totally lost it! Well she didnt punch me in the face or anything, but she slammed my face on the floor, and was pulling my hair and was punching me on the back of my legs, and with all that happening, my lips were busted open, and i have a black eye, and it bled a little, and even make-up wont cover it completely! Also she keeps threatening to send me to live with my dad (who lives in a semi-nice house, but is addicted to marijuana, crack, cocaine, crystal meth, and he pops pills)...So i was wondering if this was considered Child Abuse.....Thanks Alot for reading this, and im sorry if its Long!

Q: I was just wondering where tears came from? Why do our eyes water whn we feel sad or get hurt? Why does our nose start to run and we get choked up? And why do they taste salty? I know this is a random question, but I'm very curious!

Um I dont really know what this means but you can have a look-(i found it on the internet)-
I assume that the child is referring to tearing and not the sound of crying. Some random thoughts:
Newborns cry (I think tearing develops soon, but am not sure) for reasons like hunger and pain, and later the reasons extend to social concerns (e.g., need for attention). Thus, it seems reasonable to explain the link between crying and sadness as being an extension of the negative associations of the very earliest crying. Early crying is both endogenous (no obvious cause--full bladder?) and reflexive (to stimuli), but during first year becomes "tuned" to the more negative situations.
Crying works in that it elicits responses from caregivers, who then alleviate the negative cause (like hunger). Thus, one should consider crying (and facial tearing) as communicative signals designed to enhance the likelihood of someone coming and taking care of things. Perhaps the greater the signal (louder, shriller cry and more tearing) the more likely the response, thus reinforcing the combination of the sound, tears, and negative situation, and making it more likely one will elicit the other in the future (like hearing someone sobbing causing you to tear).
Perhaps an interesting piece of the puzzle: In the waking behavior of newborns (which is not a whole lot), newborns are largely unresponsive to environment when crying (only other such unresponsive time is during quiet sleep). If much early stimulation is negative from the child's point of view, perhaps crying helps to shut it out.
The most interesting part of the question I think is why tearing? I came across only one article--highly speculative--in which the fellow looked at relationships among crying episodes of adults and found that the only commonality was help--either requesting or offering it. He speculates that tears provide an additional signal in requesting help in infants/children--a conspicuous facial signal--and that perhaps tears are selected for this task because they are already present via their reflexive association to physical pain and ocular trauma (e.g., eyes watering to get dust out).
One thing to tell your insightful youngster is that tearing is also associated with positive as well as negative feelings, and that this might be related to what the fellow above was talking about in terms of a relationship between help and tearing.
Anyway, I am constantly amazed by how quickly one gets to the limits of our knowledge about a phenomenon! Mike
does that help at all? -Kelly

Q: Today in English we were reading some story about something to do with someone having a disability wanting to play golf. He had trouble walking and had to use a cart to get around to the hole while everyone else had to walk (obviously I wasn't paying much attention). But, towards the end of class my teacher brought up a good point about what the word "fair" meant to us.
Her question was, "Is being fair treating everyone equally, or giving lea-way to those with disabilities so they can be like everyone else.
I was wondering what it meant to you guys.

Well to me it means: should I treat everyone the same whether they are cool/uncool/smart/challeged/etc. or do you treat other people special for the reasond above? and to me personally-treat everyone eqaul, no one is really better than someone (nicer maybe) but not BETTER for example if your in the crowd at school that just kinda lays low you shouldnt have to treat the more outgoing ones special, thats just who they are you should love em' for it no matter how bad YOU think it may be. just like they shouldnd treat you different. YOU JUST GOTTA GIVE EVERYONE A LITTLE RESPECT! HOPE I HELPED -Kelly* :)
