Well, the way I see it, Costello taught Sullivan everything he knows about the streets. He takes him under his wing early on in the movie, so Sullivan is doing him a favor by spying for him, but he also clearly does it out fear. Aside from identity and betrayal, the movie explores power and ambition. Notice how often and longinly Sullivan stares at the Massachusetts State House; he believes that being the best cop there is will get him to the top. Everyone wants power (and money). That movie's pretty awesome though, I'm sorry about your confusion.

Michael Jackson died today and he was only 50 years old. It really took me by surprise, but it wasn't as if I didn't expect it sometime fairly soon. There have been rumors flying around for some time now about his health problems. As a matter of fact, when Michael was on trial, one day he was late because of health problems. Obviously, the judge didn't feel that Michael's health was all that important because he threatened to have Michael Jackson jailed unless he made an appearance in the courtroom. Michael showed up in his pajamas. Does anyone else remember that?
People made it out to seem as if he was faking. Some people even made it seem like he was crazy and would do ANYTHING as he was suddenly "extremely unpredictable" and all. I guess he wasn't kidding or faking about having health problems, huh?
I'm going to miss Michael Jackson. He was a man who set out to hurt no one, but the world seemed hell-bent upon hurting him. Michael Jackson was seriously the King of Pop in so many ways. Maybe he's better off wherever he is since we trashed his good name without even giving him a chance to speak. I choose to believe that he is now seated up in Heaven, seeing God for the first time.
Does anyone feel like me about Michael Jackson or am I alone in this? When I was growing up Michael Jackson was such a big role model. Sure, he was a little weird but he seemed to care and love. I'm really hurt that Michael Jackson is dead :( almost like a large portion of my childhood has been abandoned.

i hear about people getting community service hours all the time..what is it for? and what do you do?
I'm sure there are many reasons people get assigned community service hours, but the only two I can think of at the moment are as punishment [for committing a crime], and requirement [in order to graduate highschool]. It's basically volunteer work, to give back to the community, which you do not get paid for. Most people who have committed misdemeanors do it instead of having to pay a fine or having to go to county jail for a couple of weeks/months. My highschool asked for 20 hours, so I just went to the public library and read to children, stacked books, put data into the computer, organized, etc. You can also go a hospital, a soup kitchen, a retirement home, or anywhere else you feel you can help. If you have a job, you can ask your boss if you can do extra hours for free, you can help out a neighbor, babysit for no cost, but be sure to check if these are legitimate with your school counselor. It's not limited to law-breakers and students; you can volunteer your time whenever you please if this is what you're passionate about. Volunteer work looks great on any college application. Where can I find the best black Friday deals? Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. I know at WalMart that the Black Friday sales are actually called the Blitz but those sales happen the day after Thanksgiving too.
Anyway, there are quite a few places around here like Best Buy, RadioShack, WalMart, KMart, Target, Circuit City, Sears, CVS Pharmacy, Costco, JC Penney, Kohl's, Staples, etc.

Well, first off, I'm not the most popular, pretty, or skinny girl in our school. I'm just average. So I don't think it's one of those jealousy issues. I'm also basically pretty shy around people so I don't know about my personality?
So, there's this girl who's a sophmore, I'm a freshman, and she randomly decided to just hate me. Now, I've never spoken to this girl, I've never hung out with or around her since she's a grade older and we've never had any classes. She added me on myspace over the summer but she one day decided to block me. Now, I don't hate her, because I don't know her, but she obviously has a huge problem with me because any time we happen to see each other in the hallways or something she glares at me and does anything she can to make me notice her hatred towards me.

I'm 15 years old and I live in Florida. I want to be emancipated when I turn 16, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so. My father abandoned me a good 8 months ago, and I don't live with my mother because she has a drinking problem and cannot take care of me. Right now I live with my grandmother, and I take care of her more than she takes care of me, because she has cancer. My 27 year old brother also lives with us, and has an anger issue. I cannot stand living here with him because whenever something doesn't go his way he yells and screams and throws things. I have issues with depression due to my parents, and also suffer from bulimia, and he makes it worse. My aunt comes here during the day to make sure everything is okay, but even then it doesn't feel right. I feel too much tension living here and I think it's time I leave. I'm just scared because I need parental consent to get emancipated, and since I don't live with my parents, I don't know what to do. My aunt or grandmother would never, EVER sign the petition, but I desperately need to leave.
What do I do?

I'm REALLY not an expert on this, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I just read a book called My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult [great book], and a 13 year old girl wanted to get medical emancipation from her parents for rights to her body. The lawyer worked pro bono [free] for her because it was such a rare case. She ended up winning. You'd have to do serious research on this. But to be realistic, if an emancipation is to separate from your parents, why would you need their permission? I don't think there exists a parent out there who actually gives consent. Hope I helped.
