It's basically volunteer work, to give back to the community, which you do not get paid for. Most people who have committed misdemeanors do it instead of having to pay a fine or having to go to county jail for a couple of weeks/months. My highschool asked for 20 hours, so I just went to the public library and read to children, stacked books, put data into the computer, organized, etc. You can also go a hospital, a soup kitchen, a retirement home, or anywhere else you feel you can help. If you have a job, you can ask your boss if you can do extra hours for free, you can help out a neighbor, babysit for no cost, but be sure to check if these are legitimate with your school counselor. It's not limited to law-breakers and students; you can volunteer your time whenever you please if this is what you're passionate about. Volunteer work looks great on any college application. Hope I helped. [ DJzmAgUy426's advice column | Ask DJzmAgUy426 A Question ]
