earlier today i was in a hury and just shut my computer off by holding down the power button which i've done before and its been fine but now i just started my computer back up and my computer has been reset. i lost all of my documents, all of my pictures, songs on itunes, not to mention 3 years worth of saved games on The Sims and downloads!! i didn't backup files because i dont really have anything worth backing up. when i started the computer i was getting boxes saying "would you like to view the windows XP tutorial" as if i was turning on the computer for the first time. i have shut off my computer by holding down the power button many many times before so im really confused why this happened now. what happened? (link)
You should never turn off your computer like that because if you do this and your harddrive is accessing some form of data or reading some form of data is can cause the harddrive to become corrupted therefore destroying the usefullness of your computer also you should rather than turn off your computer leave it on. It's not good for a computer to be turned on and off on and off it's better for it to just stay on always.

a little late for the lesson of what not to do. and if i left my computer on all the time my electric bill would probably be rediculous not to mention that it would heat up my small room to an unbearable temperature.
