Q: I might (MIGHT) be going to Boston for school next year, and wanted to know a bit about the city, preferably from someone who lives there (or very close by):

- BC or BU (generally)? Which school has stronger programs...

- I have heard that a lot of people there can be stuck up or just rude, overall...why do outsiders get this impression?

-How's the nightlife there? Is it a sleepy city, or more like NY, where clubs go on all night?
And which neighborhoods are the most fun?

- One thing I do know is that the weather there is very, very cold (no, freezing). I'm from California, so it'll be a big change for me- that is, if I end up going. Any tips? Other than just take a winter coat- I know that there must me more to it.

Any other quirks about being a Bostonian would be great. I'm just curious...thanks!
Boston is pretty beautiful. A very old city, and very elegant. It's a modest, old money sort of place.

1.BC. That's my opinion.

2. Well, since Boston is a place that is crowded with what some call "preppy" people that come from old money families, so some assume that they're snobs. True for some, not for all.

3. Boston may not be as big as New York or L.A., but we have clubs and dance music and all that. Don't assume that just because we appear very down-to-earth sophisticated, there's a lot of fun to have. For a more diverse feel, head to South End. Find more information at http://www.boston.com/

4. It gets quite hot in the summer, so I vaction in Newport or sometimes Hyannis, and it is very cold in winter. Like slip on your thick wool hat and gloves with those warm fuzzy boots kind of cold. Beware: kids on college campuses struggle with ethnic tensions and racist attitudes. And also, it is very hard to find parking spots. Very hard. So despite the amazing shopping oppurtunities, be ready to drive around for up to an hour looking for a spot, even when you're parking your car to go into your apartment or condo.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot :)

Happy 2008! My name is Dana for those of you who don't know, and I obviously love to give advice, because if I didn't, I wouldn't be here. I will pick at anyone who doesn't bother to capitalize their "I"'s or the beginnings of sentences. Proper grammar and spelling is very important to me. bcuz it Just loooks soooo sloppie when u type lyke this. So a word to the wise, and for the majority of you that it doesn't apply to, think about it, and watch yourself. Second of all, I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever write something that is not true. So therefore I am always right. So stand down and accept it. (Note: that also means that my "opinions" are actual facts. At least the ones I bother to write.)

Never ask me anything about how fat you are or love life. Cliched, I know, but I am heartless when it comes to the truth. If you don't know what to do with your cheating boyfriend that you still love, go ask someone else since I could not care less. Seriously.

Have a nice day!
Love,

WARNING:
My answers will be based on a preppy lifestyle. I am the clean, preppy sort, like the person who looks clean and classy and doesn't really notice anyone who isn't, regardless that some weirdos think that preppy people hate them. Also, if you wonder about the corrections on the answers I give, no worries; they're just simple corrections to those who don't know where to put a period, or that they have to capitalize the beginnings of sentences. Please don't be offended.
