I'm having a get-together/small party this weekend and thought it'd be cool to cook for everyone. I was thinking of making fried chicken so does anyone have any good foods or recipes that would compliment the chicken?
Fried chicken is complimented by the following:
Potato Salad (whether you make it or buy it from the Deli) mustard and a white potato salad, and/or German potato salad...nice variety to choose from
(sprinkle top of potato salads with red pimento for "color" and eye appeal/decoration
Baked beans spruced up layered with bacon
Corn-on-the-cob sprinkled with a tad of paprika for color and eye appeal/decoration (use the ear pins on the ends to hold)
Or, a corn casserole with tomato and bacon
Or instead of or together as a choice of: the baked beans, add another side of a Green bean casserole
Platter of sliced sweet onion, baby carrots, broccoli flowers, califlower flowerettes, any raw veggie with different Ranch dressings and sour creams for dipping-- your imagination
Fried breaded onion blossoms (easy to make: take peeled whole onion, slice into flower but not all the way threw, and dip in egg/milk mixture and into seasoned flour then fry in deep pan of grease emerging the entire onion or deep-fat frier...
(try a little cajun seasoning on this!)
Fried okra
Baked eggplant (with artichokes if desired)
Summer squash casserole
