Hey i was the one who asked about the bruises on my legs.
I was wondering what you would suggest i should eat more of like a fruit or vitaman or something,
Thanks,
Becs
I've included beta-carotene because you told me that you recently broke your collar (clavicle) bone. Beta-carotene helps keep skin healthy , prevents night blindness and infections, and promotes growth and bone development. The foods that are good sources of beta-carotene are red, yellow, orange, and leafy green vegetables, fruits, including carrots, apricots, cantaloupe, peppers, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin.
Vitamin E acts as the protector of essential fats in cell membranes and red blood cells. It reduces risk of cancer, heart disease, and other age-associated diseases and great sources of E are peanut butter, nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, wheat germ, avocado, whole grains, and raw palm oil. I'll take a moment to let you know about raw palm oil. If you are going to cook this is the oil to use. It has your complete vitamin Es in their natural state and it can withstand high temperatures. Taking any vitamin in it's natural state is the best way to take it. You may hear from people that they have heard that palm oil is bad for you. In a since they would be right. What they are speaking of is processed palm oil and just like any process oil it is bad for you. But palm oil in its natural raw state is actually very good for you and highly recommended.
Vitamin C destroys free radicals inside and outside cells. Helps in the formation of connective tissue, the healing of wounds, and iron absorption, and also helps to prevent bruising and keep gums healthy. May reduce risk of cataracts, heart disease, and cancer. Great sources of vitamin C are peppers, tomatoes, citrus fruits and juices, berries (goji berries being among the best), broccoli, spinach, cabbage, potatoes, mango, papaya.
Vitamin K cannot be made by our bodies, but not all vitamin K needs to be obtained from food, because bacteria in our gut can make it. Probably, about half our vitamin K needs can be made by gut bacteria. Great natural sources are apples, asparagus, green beans, beef, beef liver, broccoli cabbage carrots cauliflower lettuce milk, cow's milk, oranges, peas, potatoes, spinach, strawberries, wheat bran, wheat germ.
B12 is found in all animal products is initially manufactured only by micro-organisms, especially bacteria in soil and water and to an extent in animals' guts. Animals mostly get theirs by eating food and drinking water contaminated with these micro-organisms and we in turn get it from consuming animal products such as eggs, meat, and dairy. It is extremely necessary for healthy nerve function and a person risks nerve damage of they choose not to get it in some form whether it be food or supplement.
Folic acid is a member of the B vitamin family and important in the synthesis of DNA, which controls cell function and heredity as well as tissue growth which is what is needed when you bruise yourself. Alcoholics, pregnant women, and people taking certain medications may be at higher risk for folate deficiency. You see the taking of the aspirin, for example, is a blood thinner and weakens the veins and capillaries. You need folic acid for its tissue strength and building. Food that are great sources of this is Dark green, leafy vegetables, Whole wheat bread, Lightly cooked beans and peas, Nuts and seeds, Sprouts, Oranges and grapefruits, Liver and other organ meats, Poultry, Fortified breakfast cereals, and enriched grain products.
Site one is a great place to buy all kinds of things but I referred you to it for raw palm oil and raw coconut butter/oil. If you are going to cook these are the only oils to use because they don't go rancid in high temperatures like all the other commercial oils out there. The second site is where you can find goji berries if you wanted to buy them or you can simply put them in your search engine and a plethora of sites that sell them will come up.
It is best to get your vitamins from a natural food source, but it never hurts to find yourself a good mult-vitamin that is derived from a food source.
