Q: hi! i've started getting my haircut at a pretty upscale place, and now instead of the hair stylist washing my hair, there is an assistant that does it. am i supposed to tip her, and if yes, then how much? the hair cut is $35! thanks!! :)

if it is a really nice place, it should be about $5 to $10. but if it is a medium/casual place, i would give about $3 to $5. just tip as you feel led to. and if you see someone else tip, follow their lead.
