Hey,
I've heard you give some really interesting answers on religion. I was wondering where you find out about all of this?
I am a Wiccan and desperate to learn more about the true roots of religion, instead of what it's starting to become (basically Christianity bashing, overly-stuffy rituals that really have nothing to do with faith and belief, and having a go at the 'fluffy' religions). Can you point me in the direction of or tell me something about this?
I'm also extremely interested in the foundations of any religions and how they've changed over the years. If you could point me in the right direction of some info on that I'd be extremely grateful :)
Finally, my friend and I are both unhappy at how ritualistic Wicca has become. It's said that Gardnerian Wicca was based on an old religion Gerald Gardner 'stumbled upon' but it had no rituals - he made them up. My friend and I are beginning to feel that these rituals are going too far, becoming too stiff. They are very symbolic but no-one really understands the symbolism any more...we feel there is very little faith and a lot of restriction in constantly consecrating everything on the altar, doing everything in a certain way etc when magick is supposed to be beautiful and natural. Would you happen to know anything about or know anywhere I could further research the little-known religion Gardner is supposed to have based Wicca on? Don't worry if you don't :)
Thank you so much!!
This is a truly complex, complicated and controversial issue. I have studied religions of all faiths. I have read the bible (King James, Aramaic versions) through twice and have read the Quran, Talmud, Bhagavad-Gita, Book of Enoch, The Nag Hammadi Library, The Gospel of the Essenes, I Ching, The Book of Toth, A Course in Miracles, Josephus the Historian, The Lost Teachings of Jesus Christ, Books about the true Merlin, Wicca spells and beliefs, and one of my favorite contemporary writers is David Ike. You can find David Ikes books on Amazon. I have included his website below, but, it is temporarily down. These are just an inkling of the massive amounts of books, articles and documentaries I have studied. I have studied the history of ancient people and I am not talking about the major and remarkable events of their times. I have studied things like, how did people eat, think, sleep, go to the bathroom. How did the underworld or criminal activity of their day work? I research how it was like to be an average person of the times. My reasoning behind this is to get a closer handle on what the true meaning to their ancient writings could be. We have grossly misinterpreted the Bible, for example, and turned these ancient lessons into bastardizations of their true meanings. There is a saying of Jesus that goes like this, It is as easy for a rich man to enter into heaven as it is for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Well, I have been lucky enough to go to Israel, one of the best experiences of my life. Anyway, while I was in Jerusalem I discovered that there is an entrance into Jerusalem that dated back to the times of Jesus. The name of this entrance is called THE EYE OF THE NEEDLE. This passageway has a door/gateway that is divided in half/ top from bottom. At night they close the top half so the camels have to get on their knees in order to enter Jerusalem. In other words, what Jesus meant was that rich people have to humble themselves before the Lord just like anyone else. I have read Bibles that have been interpreted for people of today and the Bible read as follows; it is as easy for a rich man to enter into heaven as it is for a camel to sqeeeeeeezzzzze through an eye of the needle. This to me reads like it is impossible for a rich man to enter into heaven, which is not what Jesus was saying. This interpretation leads us to believe that coveting money is evil. Historically the church has fed on guilt. That is how they control us. Now other religious orders are following suite because this method has been successful for Christanity. Religions like Wicca are starting to become more ritualistic because they find that most people are like sheep and need to have a ceremony in order for them to feel like they are accomplishing something or being a part of something. People have lost sight of the magic that surrounds us. Jesus, among other religious leaders were trying to help us see that. We are to become one with the magic, not perform it. Magic in my definition is something that we cannot explain because we have not discovered the logical cause of the reaction yet. We are still in our infancey and if our government has anything to do with it we will stay there (another long drawn out branch of research). What I want to emphasize here is learn your chemistry. You do this and you will be closer to understanding the world around you and how you can tap into it. Closer understanding will bring you closer to having the ability to manipulate what is considered the solid world around us. Jesus and other great religious leaders knew this and were able to perform miracles. These magic rituals people are haphazardly performing could do more harm than good because people do not know what they are truly doing. It is truly a dangerous thing to perform magic unless you understand what you are doing. You can create more harm than good. There are people today in India that are AWARE and know how to manipulate atoms and molecules. They have known about atoms and molecules for thousands of years were we are just discovering them.
Something I have learned through all of my searching is that everyone (religion) is right and everyone is wrong. If you start your studying and research you will see that all of them are saying the same thing. Love. We have been put here to love one another. Love is very powerful. We are not doing a very good job of this though. Were everyone has wondered off the true path is there is no one ritual or ceremony that makesthe any one belief of choice the one and only. How could that be when the true source and the true answer is within you. You see, it is my belief that we are all one. We are connected to each other and to the ultimate Supreme Being. It is my belief that our creator is both male and female. How could we be created in our Creators image if that were not true? In ancient Christian texts, ones that did not make it into the Bible (the Nag Hammadi Library), there are books within it that actually describe the female half of our creator as Wisdom. If you read the Bible today with this in mind you can glean a whole new interpretation wherever they use the word wisdom. And who is the holy ghost in the holy trinity? Does it really make sense to you that it is the Son, the Father and the Holy Ghost and the last two refer to the same entity? Why do they need to describe him twice? I say that the Holy Ghost is the female part of this trinity. How could the Father (who made us in his immage) have a son without a female essense. Did you know that for the first 10,000 years of known civilization God was a female entity? In ancient Mesopotamia women were the heads of the household. People kept the last name of the woman and not the man. Property passed down from woman to woman. The societies were more peaceful then. You still see remnants of this within the Jewish culture. They do not believe you are a true Jew unless your mother is Jewish. They say today that this is because you always know who your mother is, but not your father. This matriarchal society came to an end when the Arians came out of northern India and waged war bringing their male gods and patriarchal society. We have only believed in a male god for a few thousand years. The Arians settled, for the most part, in what we know today as Iran or Persia. Persian/Iranians are not Arabic people.
I also have a belief that is hard for most to understand. I believe that all of this does not matter. We each have LESSONS to learn or games to play and how we play determines whether we move up closer to being one with the Creator or not. There is no right or wrong in our path, only set backs if we do harm to others. If we are grossly evil in our thoughts and deeds we will be given a lesser life being existence, for example, mass murders may come back as hyenas. This way they can work out that blood lust. We have also been given one of the best gifts of the universe and that is the freedom of choice. There are preferred paths for us to take, but we have the freedom to choose whatever path we wish. We also have the freedom to make a bad choice into the best choice. Yes, I believe we reincarnate. We are in a huge virtual reality game remember. We get to come back as many times as we want until we have achieved our goal. I think that if you work on your true temple, yourself, you will achieve your full potential. The best way to achieve this is through meditation (prayer). You can become one with all that IS this way. It is your mission to look inside yourself and find your god/church within. You do not need rituals for this. I go to a church/temple called The Self Realization Fellowship. The service consists of meditation with some readings and chants/songs. I have included their website below. The Books I recommend reading are by its founder Paramahansa Yogananda. The book to start off with is, Biography of a Yogi. This book could start you on an amazing journey.
Below, for your edification, I have put a couple of verses of the Bible that have been directly translated from Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke and what the Bible was mostly written in (along with Greek). The first one is The Lords Prayer and the second one is Genesis 1:1-31. Notice the difference in wording here and what is in our up to date modern Bibles. What interests me most is in Genesis were the days of creation are discribed by using the term eons. Eon means thousands and thousands of years. A very long time. Doesn't tht make more sense than our 24 hour time period?
I have included websites for you to investigate. There is a website I like call Comparative Religion. On this site it is like Advicenators. You join it (free) and can ask questions, join in discussions and investigate to your hearts content. You just cant insult anothers viewpoint. See what you can find here. Everyday is a continuation of my search and so it should be for you. There is another one called Sacred Texts. You can have access to all kinds of texts I believe 10,000. You can research any religion, belief or philosophy here through ancient texts. You have access to a lot of information here. Remember this is your journey. The key is to follow your heart. You know what is right. Do not believe everything you read, including me. Do not take anything at face value. Listen to yourself, because you will know what is true in your heart. Do not lie to yourself. This is our biggest problem. We ignore our inner wisdom.
Good Luck!

Matthew 6:9-13"Therefore, this is how you shall pray:Our heavenly Father, hallowed is your name.Your Kingdom is come. Your will is done,As in heaven so also on earth.Give us the bread for our daily need. And leave us serene, just as we also allowed others serenity. And do not pass us through trial, except separate us from the evil one.For yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the GloryTo the end of the universe, of all the universes." Amen!
Genesis 1
1. As the beginning, the Son of God creates the heavens and the earth.*
2. And the earth was for Him and by Him,* and the darkness was over the face of infinite space, and the Spirit of God was over the layers of the water.*
3. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.*
4. And God saw that the light was beautiful* and God chose light over darkness.*
5. And God called the Light "day"* and the Darkness "night,"* and the evening and the morning became part of one cycle, [the first eon.]*
6. And God said, "Let there be sky in the balance of the water." And He chose between the Waters over the water.
7. Thus God created the sky, and He differentiated between the water below the sky and the Waters above the sky, and it was so.
8. And God called the sky "heaven," and that was the evening and the morning of the second eon.
9. And God said, "Let the water below the heaven be gathered in one world and let dry land become visible, and it was so.
10. And God called the dry land "earth," and the gathering of the water the "seas," and God saw that they were beautiful.
11. And God said, "Let the earth yield vegetation, so as the seed* may sow its own kind, and the fruit bearing tree to produce the fruit of its own kind by which it was planted on earth, and it was so.
12. And the earth produced vegetation, so as the seed sowed its own kind, and the fruit tree that produced the fruit, generated its own kind, and God saw that it was beautiful.
13. And that was the evening and the morning of the third eon.
14. And God said, "Let there be suns in the sky of heaven, so as to choose between the day over the night, that they should serve for signs and wonders, seasons and cycles, and for years.
15. "And that they should glow in the sky of heaven, to shine over the earth," and it was so.
16. And God created two great celestial bodies, the greater one to have authority over the day and the smaller one to have authority over the night, and He created the stars and all the celestial bodies.
17. And God gave them to the sky and heaven, to shine over the earth,
18. And to have authority over the day and the night and to impose the light over the darkness, and God saw that they were beautiful.
19. And that was the evening and the morning of the fourth eon.
20. And God said, "Let the waters teem with living and breathing crawlers, and let the flying creatures fly over the earth, in the layers of the sky of heaven.
21. And God created the great dinosaurs* and every living soul that crawled in the waters and produced their own kind, and every flying creature with wings according to its own kind, and God saw that they were beautiful.
22. And God blessed them and commanded them, "Multiply and increase and fill the waters of the sea and let the earth teem with birds."
23. And that was the evening and the morning of the fifth eon.
24. And God said, "Let the earth produce living souls in harmony with its nature, herds and four-legged animals and creatures of the earth, according to their kind," and it was so.
25. And so God created the creatures of the earth according to their kind, and the herd animals according to their kind, and all the four-legged animals according to their kind, and God saw that they were beautiful.
26. And God said, "We shall make the human being in the image of our likeness, and they shall have authority over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky and the herds and all the creatures of the earth and all the four-legged animals that walk on the earth."
27. And God created the human being to resemble* His own visage; He created them male and female.*
28. And God blessed them and said to them, "Multiply and increase, and fill the earth and its environments, and have authority over the fish in the sea and the birds of the sky and the four-legged animals and all the creatures that crawl over the earth."*
29. And God said, "Behold, I give you every plant with seeds that is sown on the face of all the earth, and every fruit bearing tree whose seeds are planted, for you to be a source of food.
30. "And [I give you] all the creatures of the wilderness and all the birds of the sky and everything that walks the earth that has a living soul, and all the herds for food," and it was so.
31. And God saw all that He created, and, behold, it was truly beautiful. And that was the evening and the morning of the sixth eon.

(Rating: 5) Thank you so much!! That was an amazing answer. I am still working my way through the websites but so far I've found every single one I've visited interesting. I can't thank you enough for the time and effort you've put into this answer, it has been of enormous help to me...so far I've been incredibly confused about religion and even where to find out more about it, but you shed some light on the subject :) Thank you, and blessed be!
