i'm thinking about asking my parents for a Lap-Band procedure. it's where they make like a .5 inch incision and stick a rubber band that can be inflated around the top part of your stomach so that your food slowly trickles down into the bottom part of your stomach, filling you up faster. it's a lot safer than gastric bypass because there's no cutting or re-routing involved. have any of you heard about it or even had it? please help me! i checked my BMI and it's 53.5! i almost cried!! thanks.

PS. oh, and the reason why my BMI is so high is because i a 325 pounds and i'm 5'5". it's mostly fat. maybe a little muscle, because i'm not that strong at all. my goal wight according to ediets and weight watchers should be in the 120 range. so it's more than just a few pounds. also, the site for the center that i want to get this done at says that there are over 8 million americans that need to lose over 100 pounds, and over 95% will fail without some sort of weight loss surgery. check it out. www.wishcenter.org.

dear weigth loss,
i think that the procedure would be a good thing.
but only if it's something that you truly want and you are willing to sacrifice for. it's easier
to get it off when you are young. and also if people lose weight when they are our age it reduces the risk of alsteimers. so i think that if you want it you should go for it. but just be sure that you are willing to deal with the after affects. good luck and keep me posted.
hope i helped!! if you need anything at all just ask! *~~~shana~~~*
