Ook, I want to go to a tanning booth so bad! I know they arn't safe, and everyone tells me I'll get skin cancer, but so many people tan outside in the 100 degree weather and thats just as bad! Nothing in this world is 100% safe, and thats the chance you have to take. Should I go tanning? And how dark does it make you? And since this is my first time how long should I go in, and do I have to take off all my clothes off?

I always thought the sun & tanning beds were equally bad for you. But I've read tanning in a bed once a month have been proven to increase your risk for skin cancer more than you could imagine (can't remember the exact percentage). If you want to go tanning, go for it. Just inform yourself before going & be sure to limit your visits. I've been going on & off (about 4-5 months out of the year) for 3 years. I have never been able to get any color from the sun, but I tan very easily in tanning beds. It's hard to say how dark you can get because everyones skin reacts differently. Basically, you could probably get as dark as you want. But like I said, I wouldn't overdo it. Your first time you will only go in for about 5-7 minutes depending on you're skin tone & how it reacts to the sun. Don't expect to see major results the first couple-few times because you're just taking precautions without overdoing it at first. As long as you don't burn, you will continue to increase your time a couple-few minutes each visit. If you happen to burn (which is not uncommon) wait for it to heal before going back. Don't get discouraged and think you will always burn everytime you go. Your skin just isn't used to the tanning bed, but will adapt to it overtime. If you don't want tanlines, you can tan naked. (Don't worry, they clean them!) But if you prefer to keep anything on, that's fine as well.

i want to get white etnies. would they look bad if i wore skirts and capris or no? thanks

I guess it depends on what else you're wearing & where you're going. If it's something casual & you're not going anywhere special, I think it'll be fine. Honestly, I wouldn't wear anything besides flip flops, flats, or heels without a skirt. But that's just my preferance & your style might be completely different than my own. I say wear whatever you want regardless of what people think. It's always fun to try something different & be a little brave putting things together that most people wouldn't dare try. That is pure confidence. :)

since i got out of school i've really only straightened my hair about 3 times. i used to straighten it almost every day in the school year, but i dont anymore. thing is, it still seems fried. its kinda frizy and seems dry. why is it still like, this, and what can i do about it? thanks xo

I suggest S-Factor Dream Drop. I got it @ Toni & Guy for $30. I'm not sure where else they sell it, but it works wonderfully. I'm sure there are cheaper anti-frizz products you can get at the grocery store. Anything by John Frieda or Paul Mitchell works decent & is still affordable.

i never had my period and im almost 15..about everyone in my grade has had theirs and alot yonger... should i worry about never having one...i at least want to start so im normal...i don't even have those signs of right before you start a period..hmmm??

You're only 15. It seems that at that age, you're considered a late-bloomer, but it's perfectly normal. Most skinny (under 100) & athletic girls don't start their's till later so that may contribute to starting late. But regardless of that, you shouldn't be worrying until you're 18. Don't feel that it's not "normal" to have yours by your age. Infact, there are more girls than you think that haven't started theirs at your age. Plus, you aren't missing out on anything great, so enjoy it while you don't have it! & just give it time! :)

Hey im 15/f and i just cant seem to be able to tan. I've tried tanning oils, lotions, baby oil, water, and just tanning bare. I only get a little red but it goes away the next day and im white again.. ive tried tanning this whole summer and i just dont tan. Is something wrong with me? Is there anything i can do? Thanks!

No, there's nothing wrong with you. I'm actually the same way. Some people just weren't born to tan easily. Luckily, there are solutions. 1) You can do it the unhealthy way & go with indoor tanning. Yes, even if you can't tan outside, you still will [most likely] tan in a tanning bed. If you choose to go with this option, realize that your risk for skin cancer is increased. So limit your visits & your time spent each time. 2) Lotions & spray ons. I can't suggest any specific brand because I've never used one that worked well. I know there are regular lotions, such as Jergins, that have tint of self tanner so that the results aren't as strong as they would be with a regular self tanner lotion. You could try those if you are too nervous about diving in with basic self tanner & coming out with orange hands & major streaks.

During the first few weeks of summer me and my friends went out and drank for a couple of nights. I can drink alot because I have a high tolerance and I never get hangovers. But throughout the entire week that we were doing this, I had a headache. It wasn't a bad one, but no matter how much medicene I took, it just didn't go away. It never stopped untill I finally stopped drinking for the week. Could it have been an ongoing hangover since we did it every night? Or was it related to something else? thanks.

I'm convinced that drinking the entire week could have very well been the cause of your headache; for 1) the lack of sleep & stress on your body & 2) possible cause of dehydration.

any good powder coverup/foundation that you would suggest for less than $10?

I've tried just about every brand of foundation. & the best one I've come across, that I'd suggest is Loreal Ideal Balance Foundation (liquid.) It's in the $10-$12 range, but definitely worth it. For powder coverup, I suggest Maybelline.

I really want to wear thongs because I tried my friends on once and it felt SO comfortable. I don't want one just because my friends wear them, because thats just stupid. I really like the feeling of them, but I'm afraid if I wear them, it'll seem like I'm a slut. The farthest I've gone with a guy is just a PECK on the lips, one time and thats it. So I'm no where near a slut. My mom doesn't care if I wear thongs, she actually even bought one for me. I want to wear it, but I don't want to feel slutty or people to think a slut. But I love the way they feel, they are good for when I wear tighter clothing, and my mom approves of them and I have one in my drawer already, so should I wear it or not? I'm 13 and female if it helps.

Wearing thongs does not make you a slut. Wearing them & flaunting them would give people the impression that you are. As long as the world can't see them, then go for it.

how can you get your photos to the right size (15k) to put on your advice column?

If you have programs like Corel or Adobe Photoshop, use them. If not, most computers have Paint. Right click the photo, and resize it down till it's small enough. Save it & try again. Or just upload the picture on tinypic.com or photobucket & it should automatically resized for you.

duz it hurt to get ur eyebrow pierced?

I have never gotten my eyebrow pierced, but the pain varies for each person no matter the location; basically, there is no correct answer for this question. If you need input & stories from other people who have gotten their eyebrow pierced, try piercing sites like bmezine.com.

i've been having a 'snack' around 7 maybe once er twice a week. either cookies, crackers, etc. once a month itd be a donut er something. is that really bad for you?? i heard you gain more weight doing that.

thanks!!

Well, cookies & crackers are obviously not healthy for you. But as long as it's not every night, it shouldn't affect your weight that dramatically. Instead of cookies & donuts, replace it with fruit. Another option would be to eat 5 small meals a day, as oppose to 3 big ones, to decrese your appetite (so you aren't hungry later at night).
