Ever since I was a small child, I have always wanted to be a pilot. However, my vision is terrible and 20/20 vision is a strict requirement of US Air Force aviators. There is the possibility of Lasic surgery, but that is expensive and sometiems unreliable, and it has risks and side effects involved. And it can sometimes be a disqualifier from the flight program of the USAF.
Now, when I was a Senior in High School, I was originally going to sign up for the US Army Warrant Officer program. My counselor managed to persuade me not to. I applied to and got accepted to Saint Joseph's University because of their Air Force ROTC program. Then came something I was not prepared for. As always, there is a lady involved. I found, or actually, a lady found me. We have been dating for the past 4 months and I know I sound like some puppy-eyed immature teenager when say this but I love this woman, and I plan on marrying her when we get out of college. It sounds stupid, but I know what I feel and I know she feels the same way. Now here is my problem. Do I join Air Force ROTC and waste 4 years of my life as an Air Force Officer only to be rejected for my vision to the pilot program when I could be living a nice steady life with my lady? Or is there a small chance that I could possibly get accepted to the pilot program and fulfill my dream? Is that small chance worth it? It pains us both to go to separate colleges, and my lady fears having to wait for me to return from year long tours of duty. And she fears the current war going on as well. What do I do? (link)

what matters to you more? you're dreams or you're love? maybe you can have both. i mean, if you're vision is that bad, maybe the airforce isn't for you. then again, maybe this is just you're first love, and she isn't going to be the only one kind of thing. its a choice only you can make, but make sure you think it through clearly.

My 12 year old cousin is going through puberty. She has always been a tomboy and she's disgusted with the whole process. To make matters worse she is developing rapidly (she's already a C-cup), and she started her period. She is normally a very happy person, but has become very depressed. She wears layered clothes and big sweatshirts, in the summer, to hide the changes of her body. Is there anything I can say or do to make her transition any easier?

umm, not really. girls just have to deal. just tell her you love her very much, and that if we all have to go through it, its better to get it done earlier then later so she can laugh at all the girls who are freaking out about it later.

Im in the army, been with my girlfriend 5 years. Im leaving again for iraq for the 2nd, should i ask her to marry me before i ago, just incase i dont come back. i love her with all my heart, i would give my life for her. but do you guys ever have the feeling how do you know if they are the one. its just so mind boggling to me. and advice would help.

Okay im a freshmen and I hate my new high school its Waterford Kettering in Michigan and I miss all my old friends including my best friend who I am so close to and I miss her so much and im goin through a lot because of it and this whole thing just sucks I started smoking, stealing and cutting again n I don’t wanna but im so depressed about other things too. I could go to Waterford Mott where she is but I don’t have a ride home…I live w/ my mom and my dad lives in Mott territory but they said the buses are “too full and its not guaranteed” or something stupid like that so now I can’t go. My question is does anyone in this advice thing go to Waterford Mott? And if so I really need a ride home…I’d be willing to pay or whatever I just need to go to Mott before I do something stupid. Everything’s just so fucked up n I can never stop crying. I need help. Or does anyone live in Rivers Edge Apartments? Cuz that’s where my dad lives. (link)

you don't NEED to go to mott, you need to go see a doctor. sorry i can't help with your ride thing, but really, you and your friend will stay close regardless.
and can't you strike up a deal with your dad, or your friend, until you get your car which isn't that far away???

yes you do need to see a doctor. we do all think those thoughts, often, well i do anyway, but really, thinking it isn't really that big of a deal. its that whole actually planning it that is. that's when you need to see a doctor.
