is it pointless to do crunches when you have excess belly fat? i have a huge belly and i've been doing crunches, but all they have done is made my hip bones go away! I looked online and read that you shouldnt do crunches with excess belly fat because it'll just puff your stomach out more.

is this true? should i continue doing the crunches? does it get worse before it gets better? if not, how do I burn the belly fat and or lovehandles? thanks!

continue doing crunches if you really think you're seeing results, but i really think you should start walking/running every day. that will help so much. i've heard that doing crunches makes your stomach puff out more, and that if you do enough crunches that it can damage your spine or something. i'm not sure, but i don't do crunches anymore; i just run. and it's really fun, too, you can get a cd player or ipod and jam out while you exercise and sometimes you forget that you're exercising. crunches get boring after a while! hope i helped :)

Ok so I'm a year older then all of my friends. And I don't want them to know. I didn't get left back or anything. I have my reasons why I don't want them to know. So I'm scared that if one of them sees my school I.D. They will see that I wasn't born the same year they were. I'm so scared. I really can't tell them the truth don't ask why please. So I was wondering if someone can help me make up a lie. I kniw lying is bad but I'm desperate. This tortures me so much!. I need a lie to tell them why it says that I'm a year older. Like I don't know maybe my passport did that when I came here I seriously need help please!

you can tell them that they have your age wrong in the school database because of a typo, and they had already printed the i.d. before you could correct it with the school secretary. you could even say that they mixed up your birthday with somebody else in another grade, and that they couldn't fix it until the i.d.s were already made. i know you said not to ask why, but wouldn't they figure it out if you have a birthday party? i'm a year older than my friends, and it's pretty cool... but whatever makes you happy. anyway, hope i helped :)

ok well theres this new kid in school and he is REALLY CUTE!!! He stares at me in all the classes we have together...
I really want to get to know him and maybe go out with him somtime.
But the thing is he has the same last name as me which makes it kinda weird doesnt iT???
Do you think it would be really weird??!?!?!?

since y'alls last names are common, i don't think it should be too weird. and if you really like each other, it shouldn't matter at all. besides, if you two get married, you won't have to change your last name... okay, kidding, but no, it shouldn't matter. just make sure that everybody knows that y'all aren't related!

can anyone list me some names of Leave-in conditioners and tell me what it does to your hair and if it will damage it at all? Is it better then conditioners you use when you bath because you leave it in?

i use infusium 23. it doesn't damage your hair; it repairs it and adds moisture back to it and makes it shiny and beautiful. honestly, i couldn't live without it. i still use a shampoo and conditioner in the shower, so the leave-in stuff doesn't replace that. for me, it is better than the conditioner i use in the shower, but i still use both.

15/f 2nd year of highschool.

I've been thinking about college a lot lately. The bad thing: I totally don't understand it.

1. I don't understand the concept of "undergrad" or "grad school." How many years of schooling do you have to do?

2. Let's say I want to become a dance teacher. About how many years or school would I need?Would I study the different types of dancing (Preferably Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, and Acrobats) for four years each?

3. Let's say I want to become a Lawyer. How many years of school would I need? Is that where the grad school/undergrad school concepts come in?

4. Let's say I want to become a psychologist. How many years of school? If I do all the school and pass all the tests .. would I be considered a doctor?

5. What kind of jobs can I do to have the title of "doctor"?

6. For becoming a History teacher, how many years of schooling?

7. For becoming a dance teacher, lawyer, psychologist, or a history teacher .. what would good schools be? Preferably anywhere in the U.S. and preferably on the east coast.

Thank you so much!

1.) undergrad = getting your bachelor's degree at a four-year college. if you just wanted to get a degree in business and then go start your own business, that would be the way to go. grad = after undergrad, this is when you get your master's degree if you want. this is only for certain professions, like becoming a lawyer or doctor.
2.) i would think that to become a dance teacher, you wouldn't need to have a bachelor's degree unless you wanted to go to a performance arts school. and then i think it would only be four years.
3.) my brother is a lawyer, he went to a four year college to get his bachelor's degree in business, and then went on to a three year grad school program at a different college to become a lawyer.
4.) four-year college, plus however many years of grad school to get a doctorate. and yes, you would be considered a doctor. i know some people that are considered doctors, even though they don't practice it. one of my music teachers has a doctorate in music, actually.
5.) a medical profession, or anything where you can prescribe medicine to patients. you can get a doctorate in many different subjects. some professors at colleges are even doctors, even though they don't practice medicine.
6.) for teachers, i'm not exactly sure. i think you have to go to a four year college, and then i don't think grad school is required but it is recommended. you have to take a course to get a certificate that says that you are eligible to teach a class.
7.) dance teacher: juilliard (performing arts school)... lawyer, psychologist, history teacher... pretty much any school. i don't live on the east coast so i don't really know the schools. of course, any ivy league school is amazing. personally, i think it would be really cool to go to the massachusetts institute of technology. hope i helped :)

Alright well in my piano music sheet here this bar is in 4/4 time.

In treble there are two sets of triplets (quarter notes), so six notes then in all.
In bass there are just four quarter notes.

I'm not sure how you would play this rhythm wise.

See this link to see my guess on how to play it:

http://img384.imageshack.us/my.php?image=advicenotesit8.png

Hmm it's a funny looking drawing. But I'm guessing that you connect the first and last notes in the triplet to two quarter notes.

How would you play this. Where do you play the quarter notes? In between the notes in treble or with them?
Thanks for any help. :)

this is going to be really tricky to type out, but i will try to help you... okay, the numbers in parentheses are the bass clef, and the numbers in brackets are the treble clef: [(1 treb & 1 bass at same time)] [2] (2) [3]... [(4 treb & 3 bass at same time)] [5] (4) [6]. man, i really hope that made sense. it might help if you say, "cho-co-late, cho-co-late, cho-co-late" over and over while stretching the word over two beats. sometimes it helps me to clap quarter notes and sing the triplets. so in the measure, the first beat of treble and first quarter note are at the same time. and the third beat of treble is on the upbeat of the second quarter note. the second beat of treble is smack dab in the middle, actually right before the second quarter, almost like a grace note. hope i helped :)

Ramona and the store clerk are the two people in the story. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO SECURITY CAMERAS OR MIRRORS. Ramona came in and purchased her garlic tablets. However, on the way out she asked him how much should one take. The clerk said to her that most women should weigh a 160 pounds, however, she weighs a little less so she can take less. The little less bothered her so she asked him to clarify what he thought she weighs and he said 130 pounds. She replied "you don't even know what I look like" and he remarked that "I see you come in here" Telling her that he thought she weighted 130 upset her because everyone always tells her that she looks like she weighs 110 or less. Also keep in mind that he wasn't facing her when he said this and there was a partition blocking his view of her so all he saw was her face and neck. When Ramona told her friends the story all of Ramona's friends said she should not be upset because when the clerk made the comment she was standing behind a partition and all he could see was her neck and face and Ramona was wearing a coat. MY QUESTION: Do you agree/concur with Ramona's friends that Ramona should not be bent out of shape because the clerk could not see what she looked like due to the fact she was standing behind the partition and all he could see was her neck and face and she was wearing a coat. KEEP IN MIND THE FOLLOWING: (1) RAMONA WAS WEARING A COAT WHEN SHE CAME INTO THE STORE THAT DAY (2) LATER ON WHEN THE CONVERSATION TOOK PLACE SHE WAS STANDING BEHIND A PARTITION AND ALL THE CLERK COULD SEE WAS HER NECK AND FACE (3) ALSO KEEP IN MIND EVERY ONE ALWAYS TELLS RAMONA SHE IS THIN/SKINNY AND WEIGHS NO MORE THAN 110 POUNDS (4) THE CLERK ONLY SAW RAMONA A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES SPREAD OUT OVER THE YEAR AND EVERY TIME HE SAW HER SHE WAS WEARING A COAT: (5) There are absolutely no cameras or mirrors

no, she shouldn't be upset. as a matter of fact, the store clerk was right in saying that most women weigh 160 pounds. so ramona could have taken it as a compliment that the store clerk thought she was under average weight. coats make you look fat. that doesn't mean that you are fat when you wear one, but it distorts your body image. by the way, it's really hard to tell how much somebody weighs when they wear a coat because you have no idea what body type they are. for example... i weigh 120 pounds, but my friends tell me that i look like i weigh 100 because although i am skinny, i have a lot of muscle (which weighs more than fat). so the clerk meant that 130 is below an average weight for women, and since the clerk couldn't actually see ramona, that was supposed to be a compliment.

my bf's friend died. i want to give him something sweet to show how sorry i am. but i dont know what. we just started going out. i already told him i am so soo sorry for him, but i want to give him a sweet little something. what should it be

this is a very hard situation. last november, one of my good friends passed away. and to tell you the truth, i don't think that any material things you give your boyfriend are going to really make up for his loss or make him feel better long-term. the best thing you can give him is your support. i understand what he's going through... my friend passed away very, very suddenly. and the best comfort to me and my group of friends was just being there for each other through the whole thing. for weeks, there was nothing that could take my mind off of it. yes, i think that material things like everybody else said would be nice, but the absolute best thing you can do is be a support system for him.

Now every time I wear Certain Dri (anti-perspirant) my armpit is really itchy and I would want to skip a day or two but I don't think that would be a good choice for my rep in school..

Is it just me or the anti-perspirant?

try getting a sensitive skin deoderant from dove. i've had problems like that with other deoderants and antiperspirants, too.

does anyone know which abercrombie perfume they spray on the clothes in the store? i know they have like 4 or so different perfumes but im not sure which one it is.

i think it's most likely fierce because that's their signature perfume. it varies from store to store, so maybe you should ask an employee next time you're there. and if they have sample bottles of perfume, maybe you can smell those and see which you like. hope i helped :)

Sorry, i didnt know what catagory to put this under. im getting tested for ADD soon. they said itd be like 3 hours for two days. whats the ytest like? and whats the difference between ADD and ADHD?

ADD is attention deficit disorder. It means that you have trouble paying attention and focusing (but can be fixed by medication if you have ADD). ADHD is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It means that you have trouble paying attention and focusing, and you're also extremely hyper. It can also be fixed with medication if you have it. I've never taken an ADD test before, but here's some info on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention-Deficit_Disorder. There's some info about the different ways of diagnosing ADD and ADHD. Hope I helped :)

for sports at school were allowed to play warm up tapes. but my team doesnt want to make a cd of just a bunch of songs we have heard other teams that have cds that are just parts of songs that are cut then it just blends to another song. are there any programs anyone knows of that i could download online for free to make one? thanks.

i use a program called audacity for making ringtones and mixing songs like you're talking about. you can get it at download.com. i'm in love with it, though it is a little difficult to understand at first. but once you figure it out it's definitely one of the most convenient programs out there. and the good part is, after you make a song or whatever, you can just burn it to a cd without having to convert it or anything! you can even put it on your ipod (i don't put ringtones on my ipod though... for obvious reasons, haha). it might take some time to make a mix like that using this program, but it will sound awesome. hope i helped :)

my room mate has really bad breath she has for awhile (a mutual friend and i have noticed) but recently all of our friends are starting to say things and noticing it . She is sensitive about most things so i don't want to say something that will hurt her feelings or make her mad but i think she needs to know rather than hearing it from someone randomly. what should i do? and how should i do it?

don't come right out and say it. for all you know, she may have a medical condition or something (unlikely, but possible). if i were you, i would chew gum and mints in front of her 24/7. also, make a remark about how you got this new kind of whitening toothpaste and it tastes really good. she will probably get the hint. but if she doesn't, there's not really anything else you can do without hurting her feelings. just try not to breathe her rank breath.

What kind of extracurriculars and how much are colleges looking for?

they look to see if you chose extracurriculars and stayed with them through high school. they also look to see if you had any leadership positions: were you president of student council? you need to be well-rounded and have a variety of extracurriculars.

why does .."my two cents" mean?

that means your opinion or personal experience. like, somebody brings up a topic and you have something to say about it. so you can be like, "well, that was my two cents." or whatever.

where can i listen to whole songs for free i no yahoo.com and aol.music.com but what others

i think there's a version of real rhapsody where you can listen to entire songs for free. also, there's always vh1.com and mtv.com and youtube.com for music videos. i've used pandora.com before, but their selection is kind of limited. google video may also have music videos.

question. whats the difference between saying

let's see if we can find a tree

and

let's see if we can't find a tree

i definitely agree with winterromance. they mean the same thing. as a matter of fact, i was wondering about this the other day with this example: "i could care less" or "i couldn't care less" when in fact, they mean the same thing. it just depends on how you feel comfortable saying it or how you've heard it said before. i'm from texas and we have all kinds of weird sayings so sometimes things like that don't really stick out in my mind. but yeah, they mean the same thing, it just depends on how you want to say it. like coke, soda, pop, soda pop, soft drink... it all means the same thing :)

okay ive read the lyrics and i think i understand the song

is it about a guy who chose drugs and in the end it turned out he was addicted and kept trying new ones and wished he'd never started becasue it had gotten out of control making everything bad where he could barely survive

yeah...so i guess im asking if thats what the song is about

songmeanings.net says so. there are also a lot of other meanings on there too.

if you call someone out of your state (on a cell phone), how much more does that cost? and what if you text them? does that cost more? thanks.

it depends on what cell service provider you have and what your plan entails. i have a cingular nationwide plan, so i can call my sister who lives two hours away and it doesn't even count against my minutes because i have free mobile to mobile. you'd have to call your cell phone company to figure that out. it shouldn't cost more to text them. however, if you are text messaging somebody who lives in a different country, that is a different story. when i went to australia (i live in texas) it cost me 50 cents to send texts to my parents. then again, i was not even in the same hemisphere as them.
