hello to all of you who need advice (or perhaps would just like to say hi).

(that's where you say "hi collin!" but you don't have to because it might scare the people around you)

i'm a musician. i play bass, violin, mandolin, keyboards, guitars, drums, harmonica, xylophone, and just about everything else. i also sing lead for my band, the dirty fries, in st. louis, missouri.


my advice may be blunt sometimes, but you all will have to deal with it. i speak the truth, and the truth isn't always pretty.


i'll answer anything, too. as long as it's not something really idiotic like "OMG what color shirt should i wear tonight?!" because i don't answer that kind of crap. i'm a strong believer in there being no stupid questions, but honestly, those are not the sort of questions that should be posted on this website. plain and simple.

advice

I have a mac, and there are a lot of unwanted icons on the desktop that I have tried trashing and deleting several times. It always says that it is being used for another task. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

well if you're not on OS X then it's possible you have a virus, but probably not


if you are on OS X, just quit EVERY application (except finder and dashboard of course) and throw 'em away. if that doesn't work, you have one of the rare occurences of an OS X virus

ok so heres how it went.

my bff is kind of spoiled and high strung. she has mega high expectations for guys.

anyways..she was going out with this guy thats sooo nice and cute and just the perfect bf for her cause he was nice and she was a bitch and they "completed eachother".

but then she broke up with him because she said he was to clingy. like a week after that me and her ex started talking and i told him i was sorry about what my bff did to him and we just started to talk and now i really like him and im pretty sure he likes me too.

so is it ok to date him? my bff doesnt know we've been talking to eachother. what should i do should i act on it or just break it off? should i tell my bff?

ok i have actually been in quite a similar situation before, except i'm the guy that it happened to.

so she broke up with him because "he was too clingy." that's bullshit. if you're gonna date someone then you spend a lot of time together. otherwise it's bound for disaster.

anyway back to my answer. my girlfriend broke up with me for the same reason. at first i was kind of hurt, but then i realized that we kinda just didn't work out.

two months earlier, i had met one of her good friends. we were still going out, but i immediately liked her. a lot. and it was obvious that she felt the same way (and she tells me now she did). i never told anyone this because i thought it was just a crush, nothing too big. we became pretty good friends.

two weeks after we broke up, i asked this friend to a movie, and later that night i asked her out. our relationship is absolutely amazing, and saturday is our three month anniversary.

unfortunately, as soon as the girl that broke up with me found out that we were going out, she immediately started acting like my new girlfriend (who, mind you, was her friend) wronged her for going out with her ex. she actually hates me (and my lovely girlfriend) now.

now, after all this back story, here's my answer:

act on it. see if he wants to go out with you. if said bff doesn't think it's right, screw her. she dumped him. it's not her place to say that you can't because she obviously doesn't care about this guy anymore.

i would advise telling her, though, before you act on it. if you don't she might feel even more hurt that you wouldn't tell her.

hell, she might not even care that you go out with him. but it's not right for her to care anyway; she dumped him. it's her problem she lost a guy that cared that much about her.

my dad is a graphic designer, and he was going to buy a mac pro. thing is, adobe photoshop, illustrator, indesign, and imageready aren't compatible for mac pros yet. so he kept his G5 and we got a mac mini

I want to get my boyfriend (age 14) something special for his birthday, but I don't know what! In the past I've given him specific things that he'd mentioned he wanted (games, hunting stuff, etc). well my birthday was about three weeks ago

seems like every guy i fall for ends up breaking my heart. i was in a 3 year relationship that ended not too long ago. and had a couple of bfs since then, but no matter what i keep getting my heart broken. im ready to give up. seems like there isnt a single guy out there who can "handle" me.

i had two fairly long relationships in a row where that happened to me. granted, they weren't three years long, but i still know where you're coming from

the thing i've learned to do with all of this is just try to pay more attention to the relationship. don't make it an obsession, though. just pay attention to the other person: how they react to you, how they respond when you talk, if they even pay attention to you when you're together.

if you think that a guy isn't interested anymore, then talk to him. see if he really is uninterested anymore. (being a guy, i know this usually helps).

another thing is, and this can be hard, but if you don't want to be heartbroken, just don't get too deep into the relationship if you're not sure just how much the guy cares about it

well, myself being a musician who hates posers:

i would say that trying to be a "rocker" would make you a total poser. you can't just change the way you are to be like by others. it's called being a follower. if all of these people said that, "hey, crack is cool! school is whack! let's go do some drugs! we'll all like you more if you do them!" you can't just do stuff because you think it'll make you more popular. usually that makes you LESS popular.

what you might want to do is get to know one of these guys. its usually a good idea. if things end up bad, then start over.

I might be pregnant, Il find out in a couple of weeks if i miss my period or not but im so stressed out about that fact that i might be pregnant this could cause my period to be late.
