Say you have a daily caloric limit of 1500, but you go maybe about 400-600 over for a few days. Will it make a difference whether or not you're eating healthy food? Like if I ate 800 calories in bananas would that make the scale go up as much as it would if I ate 800 (or more) calories of chocolate or cake or something?

bananas don't have as much fat as chocolate or cake or cookies or something of that nature, so it would not be as bad. it is still overeating on one food, and bananas are full of sugar. of course, one pound is 3500 calories, so 800 calories would not make you gain much, but yes, it would make sort of a difference if you're eating healthy food. in other words, it's not as bad if you're eating healthy foods like carrots or celery or something.

I'm the only freshman, and one of 2 girls in my jazz band at school. A bunch of the guys, mostly seniors but a couple juniors, like to play around with me. I'm not really sure what it means. They come up behind me and scare me, hug me a LOT, make funny faces at me, and call me nicknames. I'm not sure if this would be flirting?? Cause I do it back just cause I don't want them to think that I think they're idiots. Which I don't- they're really cool people. They just like to be playful with me a lot. They don't do it to the other girl, but she's a junior, and she knows them better, i guess. I went with one of them to eat out today, and he was being really sweet to me, but he was being pretty mean to some of the other guys. I'm a little confused... I'm not very experienced with guys! lol
i'd say they are flirting with you. you know how when you don't know somebody that well (and you just met them) and if they're of the opposite sex and attractive, you are pretty much immediately attracted to them simply because you haven't known them for twelve years? maybe that's kind of what they're doing. i mean, i have no doubt in my mind that they probably really like you, but that may be part of the reason they're so drawn to you. and the guy that you went out to eat with definitely likes you if he was being nice to you and mean to everybody else. by the way, what do you play in jazz band? i play tenor sax :)
I'm 16/f, and for some reason when I'm out with my mom I always talk about my bestfriends, one happens to be a guy. I was just wondering, do you think he talks to his dad or mom when he's out with them too? Like, do guys do that?
i'm pretty sure most guys do. one of my best friends is a guy, and i'm not really that close with his parents but they know a lot of stuff about me, like what i say or what clubs i'm in or whatever. so it's pretty obvious that he tells them about his friends and such.

I think that it isn`t a choice, and you can`t control it. I just want to see other peoples opinions.
i honestly think it could be either. but here's my take on the situation: we accept the world with which we are presented. which basically means, in the society our grandparents were brought up in, nobody talked about gay people. it was almost like they didn't exist. but now, talk of sexuality is more common, especially in the media. so with influences from the media and everyday life, more people are becoming okay with homosexuality. it's almost like it's a completely normal thing (not that i'm saying it's not, but bear with me), almost as if asking somebody what their favorite color is. so in a way, you can choose to be gay. have you ever noticed... and i'm not really sure about this, maybe it's just at my school. but the kids who are self-labeled outcasts are more likely to be bisexual or homosexual. this is just from my personal observation. but these groups of kids have been sort of hanging out with each other since the third grade when everybody had cooties, and now they're all bisexual. is it coincidence, or is it just becoming more average to be open about sexuality? i honestly think it could go either way though. i mean, my friend was telling me about how if the father of a child does not give enough testosterone when the sperm fertilizes the egg, then if that child is a boy and carries the y chromosome then he could have girly tendencies, or be homosexual. so i guess anybody can choose their sexuality, but there are also those who were born with it. things like that don't really influence me because i'm a girl and i like boys. i wouldn't discriminate against somebody because of their sexuality simply because it is not that big of a deal to me.
In the book to kill a mockingbird, there are 2 Radley brothers right. Well I know one was Boo and the other is Arthur...but in the end they kinda confused me when they called Boo, Arthur. So My question is what are the two names..and if Boo is Arthur.. Thanks!
the two brothers are nathan and arthur. arthur's nickname is boo. basically, the whole book they call him boo because that's what everybody in the town calls him, and then once scout realizes that he's just a normal guy, they refer to him as arthur. but yep, boo is arthur and nathan is the older brother.
Is it cosidered anorexic if you dont eat all day, drink nothing but water, and then eat a little bit of dinner?
it is considered anorexic if you continue to do that and do it on purpose. sure, there have been many times when i've been sick or not feeling well and i just don't eat. but if you don't eat for the purpose of losing weight (and take it so far as to not eat anything all day or whatever) then yes, that would be considered having anorexic tendencies.
This is a question for teenage girls. My daughter and I have always been very close. She's always been very open with me and willing to share things about school, friends, boys, etc. Now that she's 13, though, things have changed some. Sometimes I can tell she's upset about something, but when I ask her what's wrong, she doesn't want to talk about it. I realize this is normal, that she wants some privacy and doesn't need her mom butting in on everything. But I also know it sometimes helps to talk about things instead of keeping them inside. I want her to know that I'm here for her and that she can tell me anything. Should I keep trying to get her to talk, or should I just leave her alone and hope she'll open up if she needs me?
i'm 15 and i see where you're coming from. if you've already made an effort to get her to talk, then that's enough. she knows that if she needs to talk, then you are there, which is good. but don't try to force anything out of her. if she wants to talk about whatever is going on, she will definitely talk to you about it if you make yourself available. i have a friend whose mom is so completely nosy that it's just obnoxious, so don't try to get in her business or anything unless she lets you. sometimes when i've had a crappy day at school and i get in my mom's car she starts asking me what's wrong and all this stuff, but i'm not the kind of person who is just open about everything. if i need to talk to her, i will, but i get even more pissed off when she tries to figure out what's wrong or why i'm not talking. so just let your daughter do her own thing for now, and she will probably come talk to you about it at some point in time.
i was in english and i got a text from my girlfriend and it said " im in gym and i got my period i need tampons" i just said "ok" i dont know if she meant to send that to me. im pretty sure she meant to send that to someone else. and i dont wanna be like hey are you on your period because that would make her feel uncomfortable. but what should i do. thanks
that's actually pretty funny if she meant to send it to somebody else. just don't bring it up, and if she brings it up, then just laugh it off. i'm pretty sure she meant to send that to her mom or something. just don't bring it up or tell anybody else and she won't have a problem :)

I have anxiety problems when it comes to people, *especially* kids...so babysitting is out of the question. Pet sitting is too, we already have way too many animals in our house as it is.
Ehh...if I could get a regular like...fast food job I think I could get over my anxiety/phobia to do it..but yeah. I'm only 15.
My mom wants me to get a part time job to raise money for a trip to NY that I'm going on, something I've been planning for a long time and shes JUST NOW requiring me to get a job.

chick-fil-a hires at fifteen. i have a few friends who work there. the only other thing that i can think of doing is something like cleaning houses or mowing lawns (not fun!) so i think your choices are pretty limited. however, if you had the fast food job, i think there's a certain rule that if you're fifteen you can only do certain parts of the job. like, i think you would only be able to work the cash register at a fast food job. i live in texas though, so it may be different where you live. if all else fails, you could have a garage sale, or you could even do what a friend of mine did... he had to raise money to go on this trip, so he wrote to different family members and friends of his family to ask if they would offer up some dough. however, it was an educational trip, so i think it would work for you if your trip to ny was for school or something.

the best site ever is collegeboard.com. i did a search on there the other day, and i basically filled out all this stuff that was about my ideal college, and it gave me a list. it has a lot of information, and you can search and compare. it's also condensed, too, so you can look up colleges on there and it gives you very organized information about it. in the little survey thing that i took, there was a list of different majors, and then the different courses you could take. so it will definitely be on there. oh, and i just read your other question, and you can search for colleges in a certain region that accept cleps and stuff. it's really cool. well, good luck!
ok. so this is prolly like the weirdest question around, but o well. so i'm 14. my birthday was in january. i really want to get my learners permit, i have the book and everything, but there is one problem. i don't want to get it because of my weight. cause, ya know, they put your weight on the lisense, well, i weigh a lot more than most people think. and when i get it all of my friends will be like OMG!! you got your lisense, let me see!! blah blah blah... so anyways, i don't want people to make fun of my weight, but how else will i ever drive?? help!!! thanks!!
i live in texas, and my weight isn't on my permit, but i guess it's different for you. just tell them the weight that you look. they aren't going to like put you on a scale right there or anything. and it's mainly to identify you anyway. i could probably pass off as ten pounds lighter than i am. so if you just tell the the weight that you look, then it should make you feel better! because that actually makes more sense anyways if they had to identify you.

that aberombie and hollister, is NOT fashionable AT ALL. i mean, when you think about it, all it is it says there name, and has a seagull on it. i mean if you love seagulls or mooses, then pshh its the store for you. but if not, then it freakin sucks. i mean, if you look at what they have, its like always the sameee. and i dont know, i just think its no longer nothing special. and im realizing that theres alot of other stuff out there. but ive shopped at abercrombie and hollister for so long, i dont know what are cute true fashion stores.

how come celebrities on tv (hannah montana, lizzie mcguire, etc.) aren't allowed to wear name brands such as abercrombie or hollister?
you know how when somebody is wearing something from abercrombie or hollister, you can tell where it's from? it's because of that. if you see hannah montana wearing abercrombie clothes, then that's advertising for abercrombie. it would be okay if abercrombie paid disney channel for hannah montana to wear their clothes, because then it would be paid advertising. it's much more simple to just wear random clothes i suppose.
okay so im going to a bat mitzfah. and i have a few questions.
1. Is it formal? Semi-formal? i have a nice dress, one i wore to the school dance, is tht good you think? it was very nice, black & white with flowers and some lace.

bat mitzvahs are generally formal. however, you should ask the girl who is having the bat mitzvah. during the ceremony, you wear "church" clothes, and then that night at the party you wear either formal/semiformal, depending on the party. so i would ask if i were you. the dress you are talking about sounds fine, but ask your friends what they are wearing just in case. yes, you normally give the person a gift card. it's sort of like a birthday gift. so since it's a bat mitzvah, maybe you should give something from bath and body works? i think that would be nice. yes, you should do your hair nice and probably wear makeup. most of your friends probably will. the best thing to do is ask your friends what they are wearing, what gift they are giving, how they are doing their hair, etc. because then you will get a clearer idea of how to dress/act. when i went to a bat mitzvah a few years ago, we wore churchy clothes to the ceremony that morning, and then that night it was semiformal "cocktail" attire. it was a lot of fun! most people gave gift cards. be sure to have fun!
do you get pirates these days? my freind said you do, and they live life on the sea, but what do they do? "gang on boats" is how he describes them. so do you get pirates now?
yes, there are still pirates, but not exactly the traditional type of pirate. they are generally in open water and they rob/kill people on boats that they can outrun. pirates now are generally on fast boats and have guns. if you go on a cruise or something, you won't ever see pirates. as long as you're in protected water (places where you would go on vacation are protected) then you are fine. pirates are not really a big threat anymore because most water is protected. it is sort of a gang on a boat, but it's not something that most people who are on the water a lot have to worry about.

So I have this internet stalker guy and I'm really scared. He thinks he has my phone number and address but it's not mine, but he can get mine so easily. We always fight (Because it's a forced friendship) and he says if I don't forgive him he'll call my home, and school and get me into trouble. I usually forgive him out of fear but tonight I decided to stand up to him. I know he'll call that house and find out I don't live there and get my real number. He did it to Kevin so he's doing it to me.
Anyways my question is: What do I do if he does call? Also: The only way to save myself is to get a private number so he can't find it AND FAST. But if I tell my mum she'll get the internet cut off. Do I tell her what's really been going on or do I say something else to get her to change it to silent.
quit talking to this guy. don't even think about talking to him again. block him on myspace or whatever. and make sure that any public profile you have (like myspace) doesn't give out your last name or phone number or address. he can't just call your school and get you in trouble if you didn't do anything, that's gay. if he does call, call the police on him. there's no reason he needs to be contacting you. tell your mom about it, no doubt. you don't need to change the phone lines or anything, but you need to make sure that you have somebody with you at all times. just tell her that this guy has been bothering you and that you are scared. but please quit talking to this dweeb.
