Okay, so, I'm 21 f. I'm a voice teacher. I was born Jewish, but my beliefs have melded into Agnosticism with a touch of Hindu over the years. One of my best students keeps gravitating towards all these "god-songs" (Think David Archuletta, Angels) as I call them, things that talk about believing in "the father" or "my Jesus," and it's really, REALLY getting on my nerves. This student is 23, by the way, so he's not a little kid. His parents are major Catholics (and they hate me).
I suppose I might also include that this guy is my ex-boyfriend-turned-best-friend. So I can't just drop him as a student. Besides, he's fantastic. He has nearly a four octave range full voice, and I enjoy listening to him sing. (Which actually says quite a bit, because I'm one of the harshest critics out there. I'm hard pressed to find any singers I actually enjoy listening to. I can always find something completely off-putting about their singing or their song choice.)
Anyway, my issue is this:
He wants to work on religious songs, and I feel like I can't condone it because I don't believe in "god", I don't feel comfortable with the term, and I just...I don't know. Those songs bother me quite a bit.
On the other hand, I feel I'm being a bit hypocritical because - and I hate to admit this - I sing for a church choir. BUT, I'm getting paid big bucks to do it, and the director has some crazy connections in the music world.
I'm not the most religious girl (obviously) but the one firm issue I have with the three big ones (Christianity, Muslim, and Judaism) are that they believe in this "Almighty God," and I just HATE it for some reason.
I'm not even sure why, but the idea of one of my students/friends singing something like that upsets me.

first of all
by telling him to not sing relegious songs and you are in a church choir then you are a hypacrite.
i know i am not the best speller in the world so dont even judge be for that, i know my flaws and now its time for you to see yours.
if he enjoys sining this then let him. he is not hurting anyone. he has freedom of relegion and you need to step back and relieze this.
you are not paid to judge his songs but to judge how he sings them. if you have a serious problem with him then you back down, dont make him. he is doing nothing wrong but trying to voice his opinion.

ok so heres the situation. when i was just a baby my mom and dad got a divorce and my dad quit comin around. so my grandparents pretty much raised me while my mom was workin her butt off all the time. i love my mom but my relationship with my grandparents is much much stronger. well i moved 14 hours away from them about ten years ago and now my grandpa is being put into a nursing home and its tearing my grandma apart. she also is in not so good shape, but she can sstill take care of herself. she's the main reason i wake up every morning. i love my grandma more then anyone in the world. so far she has no great grandchildren and i wanna be the first to give them to em. i want them to be able to atleast see one great grandchild before they (especially my gpa) passes. the problem is i'm only 18 and still in school. i'm with the guy of my dreams and we're planning on getting married. we've been together for 3 years and we really wanna start a family. we both wanna have a baby soon but i dont know if next month is too soon. see next june my boyfriend and i are both moving down there to live with my dad and go to college. so i'll be around my grandparents all the time. i'm just really scared that they might be a little disappointed because im still in school and not married. i dont know what to do!!!!! :( i want a baby and im responsible enough to have one. i believe that if you think that you are ready to start a family then go for it. you are almost out of school so i believe that whatever you and your boyfriend decide would be great.
but do it because you want to, not just to make your grandparents happy

Monday-Friday i live with my aunt and uncle in CT
Friday night-Sunday night i live with my Mom in NY( i also live with her during the summer)she lives on the boarded of NY and CT so its only like 20 minutes from my aunts and uncles.. anyways..
i got my permit to drive in New York over the summer. Well now im back in school and in a month or so i want to go for my drivers license and i want to be able to drive to school and stuff. My mom is going to register my car in her name so its going to have new york plates. I go to school in CT thats why i live with my aunt and uncle during the week. So i have to addresses one with my mom and one with my aunt and uncle. Can i legally get my license in NY even though i also live in CT? or can i not do that.. and also if i can will i be able to drive to my CT school with a new york state license.. they know i live with my mom on weekends but still to an outsider the situation could seem iffy about where i live. because if you get your license in NY then you are going to have to get your tags and everything there.
but you also have to think about where you will be in ten years?
do you think that you will be in NY or CT? and if not there then go someone closer to where you think you will be in ten years

this guy i like asked me out the 3rd day that school was out and i said yes but he told me not to tell any one but i did. He is telling every one that we are not going out but we are and no one but my friends beleive me. He calls me and tells me to tell every one that we arent going out untill school starts. So school started and he has been not listening to be and not talking to me. I still have feelings for this guy but i dont know what t do now. (link)

it regulated...that can take a while sometimes,
but not always, you'll be able to lose weight.
Right now your metabolism, if it is like mine was,
just isn't working. If it doesn't work then
there is no way to lose weight.
In the past couple of years I have lost 90
pounds. Not to fast, but I haven't really
exercised or anything. So if you need to shed

Hey everyone. ^^
I have always considered myself an athiest or at the most, agnostic, but recently I was given an opportunity to attend a Christian camp with the Young Life program. There is not a YL program where I live, given that it's a small town. However my cousin is a leader in another area and was able to get me in to the camp. So anyhow, I went, expecting to have some fun and get away from my hometown for a while. However, I got a lot more than I bargained for in a lot of ways- it was a really profound and intense experience for me. I was exposed to a lot of ideas and a way of thinking that I haven't been in the past, and it has made me want to change myself and build a relationship with God. However, coming back to my hometown seems to slowed my progress. I come from a place where my reputation precedes me in a lot of ways, and the religious people here are from accepting of me due to my past life choices and behaviors. I don't blame them as I have lived recklessly in a lot of ways, but they don't seem to have the loving and forgiving attitude that in my opinion Christ represented.
Anyways, I would like to start making transitions towards being Christian, but I don't know where to start. Doing so would require some massive changes in my life and a huge leap of faith. I'm scared and reluctant but I don't want to turn a blind eye to what I've learned. However, I feel like to move forward would require a huge shift in my thinking, and I have a lot of questions. I've been reading the bible and a book my cousin leant me (Captiving - The Unveiling of a Womans Soul), and journalling and praying and just generally trying feel the presence of God, but I really need someone to interact with who can guide me, offer advice and maybe point me towards the answers to some of my questions.
So I guess ultimately what I'd like to know, is if there are any open-minded and intelligent Christians here on advicenators who are secure in their faith and would be interested in investing some time and talking to me about God. Im 15 years old and so is my best friend. She is a grade older then me and her sweet 16 is coming up mid November. She doesn't liek her birthday date because it is in the middle of winter so it's hard to find thigns to do. I want to do something really special for her birthday, as well as her party and I was thinking to maybe bring her to a spa or something. I was wonderring how much do spa treatments usually cost, as well as how much the average manicure/pedicure costs?
We were thinking about renting a rec center or small building to have a dance or something and have it in the spring (my 16th is in the spring) and jsut combine the two birthdays. Do you think this would be a good idea?
Lastly, I was jsut wonderring what would be some nice present ideas, I was thinking about maybe making a cute video or scrapbook or something, any other ideas? I want to make sure she, adn her guests have fun for her birthday, any ideas of things to do or thigns I can get her are greatly appreiciated.

well for a spa for both of you would probably be around $150-$225. It really depends on what you want to have done at a spa.
the rec center would be really cool to have a dance/party.
That is a wonderful idea for a scrapbook
you can have you and her in it. and you can have school, sports, vacation and "A day at the Spa" for when you go to the spa.
You can go to the spa about a week before her birthday so that you can develope the pictures and that you can scarpbook them.

i was the prson who ate the cheesecake and whatnot and gained like 3-4 pounds from one night
the day that i sent in the question i went running for 3-4 miles and
ate sushi and low fat ice cream (and water)
i probably did have too much of that though
through out the day though when i weighed myself the number did go down to 115 after awhile
the next day (yesterday)
i went running in the morning for 1-2 miles
then had work (which is a camp that involves little kids)
so that must have burned something
went to the gym for an hour (one class is supposed to burn like 700 calories)
then went running again for another 1-2 miles
the only food i ate (which was in one meal) was
a piece of low fat chicken (300 calories)
salad with low fat dressing (300)
and some turkey in light honey mustard (300-400?)
i get on the scale this morning to find that im still 119
if im eating a lot less then sweating myself to death with working out, why am i not back at my normal weight? (115) (link)

My step-sister has a pink LG chocalate and my real sister has the new LG enV2. So i can help with both.
The chocholate is extremely sensitive as you no.
The LG. EnV2 of course has a keyboard.
The dif between the two is the enV2 has more upgrades and works more sufficently.
But there is a newer , more uprgraded, chocalte
so if you like the chocolate because of the music i would say get the newer one.
But if ou are more of a texter ((( such as myself)))then i recommend getting the newer enV2. It is less heavy and i personally it looks cooler than the original enV.
