I have been noticing that I have been waking up with tension headaches almot every day for the past week? is that normal? I mean can something be done? what is it caused from? (link)
|
My dear friend,
Tension headaches are caused by the obvious: tension. You must be under a lot of stress and let's admit it, who isn't? Life is full of so many things that we have to fit into 24 hours. But I have some tips to make it easier on you.
1. Eat fruit at least once a day; the nutrients help relieve stress.
2. Exercise two or three times a week; it releases endorphins that make you happy.
3. When you go to sleep at night, make the room as dark, quiet, and comfortable as possible; try to focus instead on tasks, on more pleasant things or things that don't wear so heavily on your mind. If you are some one who likes sound while they sleep, put a soft song on repeat.
4. Eat breakfast every day; it helps you focus which will cause less stress.
5. Take half an hour of the day to rest, relax, and just be with your thoughts.
6. Try to think about options before you get upset; unnecessary anger or agitation is responsible for most high blood pressure problems.
I hope that I helped you, and good luck with your headaches.

Why is it that some fellow advicenators tell young girls and boys it is okay to have sex or do other sexual acts "if they feel that they are ready" when they know that it is wrong. I believe they are just looking to get good ratings, do you agree? I'd much rather tell them the truth, that they are TOO YOUNG and have NO IDEA of potential consequences BESIDES pregnancy and get a lower rating than tell them it's okay. Am I the only one?
I suppose this can be seen as purely subjective, but is there anyone out there at or about my age (20) who thinks it's ok for 12 year olds to go around having oral sex and/or intercourse?

My dear friend,
I can see where you are coming from, but I believe everybody has the freedom to make their own choices. I also believe sex at 12-years-old is a bit extreme, but in their lives, my opinion has no standing. So we have to help our younger friends weigh out the pros and cons of sexual acts
and give them the protection they would use and the help and advice they need. Furthermore, I respect your opinion and hope you are doing well in your life.

Okay so today in school we were working in our groups because we have to create our own political parties and each member of the group had to choose two topics that they wanted to talk about. We went around the group to see what each person's points were, and mine really sucked. In general, sometimes I feel like I don't have basic knowledge of things going on in the United States and just in general. I mean, I know stuff and follow the news from time to time, don't get me wrong here...but I always feel so slow and inferior to everyone else at school, like I don't know anything. How do I overcome this feeling and how do I gain more knowledge? (link)
|
My dear friend,
Don't feel inferior. Everyone is going through the same things at school. People act confident to hide their own feelings of inferiority.
Find some topics that you interested in and learn about them. Education, the presidential election, the genocide in Darfur, poverty, Black History month, American subcultures, homosexual marriage, child labor -- there's a world of topics out there, be creative. Find something that you are genuinely interested in, research it (on http://www.aol.com/ or http://infoplease.com) and your confidence will thank you for it.

ok well i have dry feet and idk what to do to fix that i put lotion on and it doesnt seem to help so ive quit on that and i also have like gross thick toenails.
any ideas on what i can do??? (link)
|
My dear friend,
I have the same problem. Get vaseline and put it on your feet when you're wearing socks and sneakers. By the time summer comes, your feet will be pretty enough for sandals. Also, as far as the thick toe nails go, just try getting a pedicure and keeping them clean. Thickness doesn't matter.

For christmas I got this external hardrive to put all my music and pics onto.
But my little brother likes to watch south park and whatnot on my laptop, and then he likes going through my folders.(and there, on my ext hard drive, I have some pictures that he really shouldn't see)
So Is there any way I could put a password on the hard drive so if you went on my Computer and try to open the harddrive, it would ask for a password?
thanks! (link)
|
My dear friend,
There is nothing wrong with looking at sexual pictures. We all do it, however, your brother may be too young to see it. Tell him firmly not to go through your folders, and maybe make him an account on your computer. Make your account the administrator, that way, you can keep track of what he does. If he has his own account on your computer, he will have his own folders and won't be able to look at yours.

What is a good way to learn about current events? Reading newspapers and magazines like Times and Newsweek don't seem to be helping me. Sometimes they use words I don't understand and basically I don't understand anything about politics so I guess I need to catch up on some background reading? Does anyone recommend anything? Or can give me a summary of what's up today? (link)
|
My dear friend,
Newspapers and magazines aren't for everybody. Try watching local news shows that are targetted to give information briefly and in a manner that everyone can understand. Also, http://www.aol.com/
is a good site for news story. They give you interesting news in brief articles. I hope you do well.

i homeschool online and i was wondering if there is a website where i can take a test to see what grade i would be in if i went back to public school and how well i'm doing. It has to be a free test though. Thanks (link)
|
My dear friend,
Try http://www.sparknotes.com/
You can take some quizzes to test your knowledge on various subjects; and kudos on trying to be a
better student. You could also try going to a local public school and take some copies of the tests their students take. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Statistically, home-schooled children are more knowledgeable than federally-educated children.

ok, today my bfs bro talked crap about me, I told my bf and he told me not to take things so personal. Well, his bro THEN said that he hated me, and he would hurt me. my bf talked to him, but then his bro said he was joking. DO you think he was, and I even have a witness to prove I'M right. SO what do I do? Cause I don't think my bf of over a year belives me. (link)
|
My dear friend,
Nobody has the right to treat you this way. If your boyfriend's brother has threatened you, this is a legal issue regarding your safety, and you might want to tell your parents and contact the local authorities. Your boyfriend is being extremely insensitive, witness or not, in not taking your concerns seriously. While I'm sure you and your boyfriend have had good times together, I think it's time to move on before you find yourself in a situation that will put you in danger.

I feel like im pregnant sometimes. But I am not quite sure because it scares me to even go near a test. I just want to now if you think I am experiencing any of these signs because I am pregnant or losing my mind just thinking about it. I feel bloated or fatter. I had my period the first week of January this year. My period is usually 5 days. I had sex just a week after my period. The condom had popped and of course I didn't know until I actually went to use the bathroom. Which had to be atleast 5-10 minutes after intercourse. I noticed that part of the condom was still inside me. However, I didnt notice any sperm inside of it. Before he decided he was going to cum, he pulled out and did so. What I do know is there is something called pre-cum that does exist. Thats's why im explainig this now. Im not on birth control so my period comes whenever it feels like it. And somehow during the last week of January...or the week before the last...my period mysteriously shows up and lasts for 4 days. Up until that happened..my period lasts for 5-7 days. None lesser than those days. I Have no kind of breast pains. Getting bigger or anything like that. My friends say it looks like I have lost weight. But I do not think so. I think I look fat. Bloating maybe. And it is common to start bloating before your period, And on the regular. I get a feeling in my stomach like Fatigue before I get my period. So every now and then. I know when im about to get on. I have back pains every now and then. Morning sickness is not common at all to me. I do not have the urge to eat alot either(like im eating for two. i will eat a single meal and still get full). I am tired everyday, I personally think its because i go to bed at 11pm or 12 midnight and wake up at 4:45am-5am. So I will sometimes just come in the house and go straight to sleep or I will sleep in class. But not occassionally. Please do not recommend a test to be takin'. I am going to do so tomorrow. I just want to know If I am experiencing any kind of physical way of being pregnant. ANd also I want to put in that I am not having mood swings. No headaches. Only once, and it was out of nowhere. My friends say I am losing weight but I truly think I am getting bigger. My breast are not getting larger nor sore nor tender at that matter. And it has only been a month and I hear that it is most common that it happens in the second month. My period. Well im not on the pill so like i said it will come any time it wants too. I think I had my period. I am just not too sure. And it happened to come twice in one month and this onl happened to me a few times. I will have my period in the next month still but it will change dates like for example..my period will come ealier in the month. Than I end up having my period later on in the same month. And then get it later on next month.(if that helps)
Any advice or suggestions or opinions I will take it all. Please help. Any additional information. I will surely be glad to give. (link)

My dear friend,
I understand you are scared right now and the best way to feel better about it is to have knowledge about what is going on. First of all, condoms can break when the female partner does not have enough vaginal secretion, which means you may not have been aroused. If this intercourse was not completely consensual, be sure to tell some one and find the proper physical
and emotional therapy. I'm glad you are using a condom, and I hope you know that pulling out is never an effective contraceptive. Sperm can live for up to 4 days outside of the body and can travel from anywhere around the vagina into the uterus. I'm not trying to scare you, I just want to make sure you know.
It does sound to me like you're having some symptoms of pregnancy, and while I can understand you are afraid of taking one, knowledge is your most valuable asset. If you are afraid to face the results alone, find a friend or parent or counselor to sit with you while you wait for the results.
Another thing, vaginal bleeding is not necessarily menstruation. I would suggest you tell some one you trust, contact Planned Parenthood, see a doctor, and take a test as soon as possible.
I understand this is hard on you emotionally, no matter how old you are. I hope it goes well for you.

i really want a treadmill and i was gonna buy one from Walmart for like 300 with my own money but my dads like oh you cant buy one blah blah blah.
i want to know which ones better, an elliptical or a treadmill.
i only have like 300 dollars to spend on one. and i wanted this treadmill from walmart, but my dads being a party pooper and wont let me. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=6561182
and i don't know if ellipticals are good. so which one will tone my abs and legs/butt better an elliptical or treadmill? (link)
|
My dear friend,
First of all, to answer your question: the elliptical is low-intensity and exercises your whole body. The treadmill is high-intensity (or can be) and will give your legs and butt a better exercise. Besides that, since it is cardiac, it is good for your heart.
But before you go against your father's wishes (I don't know how old you are), ask him why he doesn't want you to buy one. If it's a monetary issue, explain that fitness and good health is an investment that you are willing to make. If it's an issue of space, find some way to fit the treadmill/eliptical in without it being a nuisance. Other issues may arise but do what you can to convince your father, and show him that you are mature enough to make this decision.
