I've been going pretty strong in photography for a few years now, but I really need to upgrade my camera. I have a sony cybershot 7.2 mp, most people wouldn't consider it a 'great photography' camera, but i also think it has to do with the photographer, not the camera, but ANYWAYS...
I'm getting a Canon Rebel XTI 10.1 MP for christmas, hopefully. And I'm also thinking about getting into Macro Photography. Does anyone know if this is a good camera for this type of photograpy?
Or, can someone suggest a macro lens for me?
the canon rebel dslr cameras are great cameras when you're trying to get into more 'professional' shooting. I myself have the rebel xt. You'll find that the kit lens the camera comes with isn't a great lens though [although it still does the job when taking normal distance pictures]. But you cannot do true macro photography with the kit lens.
Lenses are pricey [I'm looking at a lens now that's $600 :/].

those two are good macro lenses. You might be able to find a deal on a used macro lens as well.
Here's a good intro to macro photography by the way:

Here's also a good forum for photography questions:

But yeah, good camera choice, you'll be very happy with it. good luck with your photography.
I'm 17 years old, starting my sophomore year in college. I'm a pretty good student, but I guess I could be better. (I usually get A's and B's, but I know I'm capable of getting better grades.
I have two jobs (veterinary assistant/receptionist and I also work for a small business).
I'm responsible, smart, nice, etc. And I want a tattoo and I'm not allowed. My parents just can't stand what they look like, even though I'm getting one that will be hidden under clothes and its small AND it actually means something to me and says something about me.
How can I convince my parents that tats are really not that bad and I won't turn into a bad or sleazy person just because I get one. And by the way, its important to me that my parents don't mind me getting a tattoo, I don't mind waiting until I'm 18, but I want my parents to support my decisions so there won't be any grudges or bad feelings. How do I go about doing that.
Reestablish to them how you are a good student and a hard worker who has good common sense. Show them how responsible you are and that the tattoo you want has a clear meaning and is not just some senseless and trashy design. Let them know that you have thought about getting it for a long time and have picked an area where the tattoo will not affect future jobs.
Perhaps try doing some research and finding out the percentage of people age 18-30 have tattoos. Point out that many doctors, lawyers, and other 'successful' people have tattoos.
Tell them that tattoos are completely safe, no longer do people have to worry about infection and disease upon picking a respectable tattoo parlor.
The only other thing I can think of is getting them to realize that a tattoo does not make you a different person. You will be exactly the same as before, only you will have a small form of self-expression that will mean a lot to you.
good luck.
I was wondering if someone could give me a general price range of how much an anklet tattoo would cost, no color. Paste this link into your browser:
http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=messageboard.viewThread&entryID=32828922&groupID=102792927&adTopicID=19&Mytoken=C1992126-0515-4B5D-AB2BE62295A08D132044528
Except, not a peace sign, but the female symbol.
I'd ballpark it between $80 and $120, plus a tip for the tattoo artist. It might be cheaper though considering there's no color.
Does anyone have one of those cameras? im thinking about geting one and i'd like to know how it works.
it's a great camera, there's a lot to it. Like all other entry-level dslr cameras, the kit lens isn't too great, but it will be ok until you can afford a better lens. I used both the D40 and the Canon Rebel XT, I ended up buying the Canon but both cameras are basically the same.
I'd definitely recommend getting a book on the basics of digital slr photography, because without knowledge of photography functions and setups you will not be able to fully utilize your camera's potential.
It takes a while to get used to, but it is well worth it if you really enjoy photography and are looking for something more professional than a point-and-shoot camera.
I love going to concerts and I'm looking for advice on who to see. What bands/artists are just phenomenal live? I'd prefer that if you answer, you have actually seen them live, but testimonials from others are fine. I like pretty much any type of music. Thanks!
22/f/US
if you're into general rock/alternative, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, and 311 are all veterans of the concert scene and put on amazing shows. Another great thing about these bands is that their shows are usually long and well worth the money.
if you're into lesser known bands, definitely go see Bane or Circa Survive. Circa Survive especially likes to incorporate props and intricate lighting setups.
festivals like Warped Tour and the Virgin Mobile Fest are also great, the atmosphere is all about the music and you can see many great bands all in one long day.
okay so im a freshman dating a junior, meaning im going to junior prom. and its this weekend. im so stressed. anyways i got my dress and shoes and now im looking at hair styles, but i was wondering is there anything else i need to do? like a corsage? or whatever it is hahaha i need help im so nervous! thank you
I'd get a boutonniere for your boyfriend, find one that either matches your dress or his tuxedo/suit/vest.

other than that, maybe get a small purse [a clutch purse] to keep gum, a camera, phone, money, other small things.
have fun :)
My financial aid letter includes tuition, room and board, and fees. However, when I sign online to the student information system, they added an extra $5,000 in books, personal expenses, and transportation. I can't afford the extra $5,000. I know I have to pay for books, but do you have to pay the school for personal expenses and transportation? Or do they give you an estimate of how much you'll be paying out of your pocket? Am I just paying tuition, room and board, and fees to the school? Any ideas? Thanks!!
That should be an estimate, in fact I'm nearly sure it's an estimate of the cost of books, personal expenses, and transportation. I would call the school just to confirm though, it's never a bad idea to be safe about important stuff like that.
And $5,000 might actually be a decent estimate of what you'll end up spending on "extras". My meal ticket was considered an extra cost and I ended up paying $1,700 per semester for that alone.
i think i want this as a tattoo
http://s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm50/MANDi-x-CANDy/?action=view¤t=thfreedom.jpg
i was thinking the back of my neck?
do you think thats a good place?
I'm sure you know this, but if you're getting that tattooed on you then it's gonna need to be bigger. If it's done that size then it will look like a blotch of ink.
The back of the neck is a good place for a tattoo. I am assuming you are female due to the design you chose, so the back of the neck is a very feminine area for a tattoo which is good. Also, it is not terribly painful to get one there, and you can generally cover it easily, either with your hair or a collared shirt.
Your best bet is to go to a respected, clean, and reputable tattoo parlor and talk to one of the artists, see what they say about the design, often they will help tremendously and make the design even better.
Make sure it's something you'll want to see for a long time, even after the whole peace/love fad is over.
So yeah, neck=good place.
does anyone play the drums as in an actual drumset? how did you learn? what are good books?
I think drums are one of the few instruments that you really can't do much with if you only read books. But some books on drum hardware and terminology might be helpful.
To play drums you need natural rhythm. Why bother playing drums if you don't have rhythm, right? You also need stamina, I sweat like hell while playing and I don't even do hardcore drumming.
I strongly recommend taking lessons, even if it's just a few to get you started. You'll learn techniques that will save you energy and allow you to play better and faster. Drum lessons, as with any instrument, usually will go for about $20 an hour.
I also like to watch videos of drummers, and this might sound silly but it can be good to play 'air drums' to the videos to practice.
You also need to be willing to invest in your drums. They are very pricey, not only to get your starting kit, but maintenance can cost a lot, especially when you have to start replacing drum heads and cymbals. Even drumsticks can put a dent in your wallet.
You can be great if you practice a lot. It can be tough to get going, but don't get frustrated if your heart is truly interested in drumming. It's so much fun.
ok ((14/f) i sweat alot like terribly what deodrant can i sued that will stop this i use secret but that still deosnt work help
signed sweatyfreshman
go to the doctor and get a prescription for "Drysol". It works wonders.
I've never gotten a tattoo before and I've been toying with the idea for a while. I really want to get one. I just really need to get an outside opinion from someone that doesn't know me. I want to get this design:
http://i27.tinypic.com/2ymzous.jpg
I want to get it on the back of my shoulder towards the edge of my shoulder blade. I want it to be about 3 or so inches across.
I'm just worried about the pain and whether it will be easy to cover and easy to show.
I like the touch of color in it. Just make sure you get it big enough so that the detail in it doesn't end up looking like an ink blob or something.
I have one on my shoulder/shoulder blade. I have a terrible tolerance for pain [I cried when I got a tattoo on my leg] but the shoulder really didn't hurt. It feels like you've got a sunburn, and then a cat comes along and scratches it. Eventually the area goes numb. You can take some advil before you go if you're really afraid of the pain but I honestly think you'll be able to deal with it without a problem.
It might be sore for a while after you get it, maybe for a week or even just a few days. Keep it covered with breathable gauze so that your shirt doesn't irritate it.
It will be easy to cover up, the shoulder is always a good place because you don't have to worry about getting in trouble at the workplace or anything.
good luck!

i don't think you guys understood my question.
i am completely aware of the fact that it's unfair & terrible for me to be mad at a girl who did nothing wrong.
THEREFORE,
AFTER I CAME TO THAT CONCLUSION,
i went to advicenators to find out
HHHHOOOOOWWWWWWW
to stop being mad at her & being jealous of her grades.
not to be retold that it's unfair & terrible.
can someone please help me? i really need help & advice. i cried so long yesterday and i felt so worthless... i need you guys to please help me. she gets perfect grades. i don't want to cry as i type this but i can't help it...
I had a best friend in middle/high school that would always do better than me at everything. Sports, popularity, especially grades [she ended up being valedictorian of our graduating class haha]. Yeah it was frustrating, I felt like I would always be compared to her because I was her best friend. That sucked. Then I found something that I was better at, for me it happened to be music and art. My self-esteem and self-worth grew tremendously, and I no longer felt worthless as compared to her.
Looking back at high school, I realize that grades weren't that important for getting into a decent college. I had alright grades, nothing spectacular, but I still got into the college I wanted. Don't be jealous over her grades, once you're done with high school you'll realize how worthless it is to stress over them to the point of making yourself overly upset. Do what you can, that's all you can do and that's fine. From what it sounds like you're still getting good grades.
Jealousy is normal, but yours seems a result of low self-esteem. Anyway, I suggest to get over your jealousy, find something that you are better at than she is. There's gotta be something, she's not perfect. Don't like shove it in her face when you figure out what it is, but keep it to yourself and just find satisfaction in knowing what you are great at. Yeah it's not a cure for jealousy but it can help dissipate it, what's gonna make that jealousy go away is realizing your potential and growing your self-confidence.
You'll change a lot in the next few years, discovering who you really are, and if you really want to get rid of the jealousy you will, whether it's through counseling or just through growing up.
sorry for the long answer, hopefully it provided some insight into what you were looking for.

ok this is really random but yeah. you know those screamo songs where people scream? like the screamo scream? WHILE they are singing? does anyone know how to do that? because i really wanna be a musician. and i want to scream. im 15/f,btw. but yeah. any tips? im welcome to any advice.
thanks.
EDIT: yeah it's hard to explain, using your diaphragm to sing means bringing the air from lower in your body, rather than your throat. Your belly will move in and out and your abdominal muscles will tighten, your chest shouldn't rise and fall much. It takes practice, that's for sure, search for techniques on google if you're still interested in learning.
I don't think it's really something you could learn how to do properly through reading a 'how-to', if you really want to learn how then you'll probably want to get a vocal coach [though I don't know how many would be willing to teach you], or find someone in a band that has been doing it for a while, someone with experience.
Drink a lot of water before and after you try. You'll be getting the air for your scream from your diaphragm, not your throat. That way you will lessen the risk of damaging your vocal chords, which is very easy to do when practicing the metal/screamo/hardcore style of music. That's why you see people from bands like The Used and Avenged Sevenfold having to postpone tours-their voice gets stressed and damaged from all the screaming.
Basically, find a vocal coach or someone in a band. That way you won't kill your voice like you might if you don't know what you're doing.
theres a rock song that says "its not about the he said she said bullshi*t" just wondering what it was if anybody knew?
Limp Bizkit- "He Said She Said"
I've seen some people that have a silver necklace with a naked girl sitting sideways with one leg scooted up alittle. Does anyone know what i'm talking about? where can i get one?
do you mean the 'trucker girl' symbol? like the kind you see on mudflaps and stuff?
if so, here's a few:

I've also seen them through Urban Outfitters. Maybe try Claire's too if you don't want to order online. Hopefully that's what you were looking for.
how much would this tatto cost?
http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cobrasnakess0.jpg
it would be 3/4 of the size it appears. thanks
It depends on the parlor. I would estimate between $90 and $150, including the tip.
Some places charge per hour, others charge per square inch.
I would recommend that you shop around at some respectable, well-known, and clean places and find the best price.
