getting a tattoo

Question Posted Tuesday March 25 2008, 6:20 pm

I've never gotten a tattoo before and I've been toying with the idea for a while. I really want to get one. I just really need to get an outside opinion from someone that doesn't know me. I want to get this design:

I want to get it on the back of my shoulder towards the edge of my shoulder blade. I want it to be about 3 or so inches across.

I'm just worried about the pain and whether it will be easy to cover and easy to show.

I like the touch of color in it. Just make sure you get it big enough so that the detail in it doesn't end up looking like an ink blob or something.

I have one on my shoulder/shoulder blade. I have a terrible tolerance for pain [I cried when I got a tattoo on my leg] but the shoulder really didn't hurt. It feels like you've got a sunburn, and then a cat comes along and scratches it. Eventually the area goes numb. You can take some advil before you go if you're really afraid of the pain but I honestly think you'll be able to deal with it without a problem.

It might be sore for a while after you get it, maybe for a week or even just a few days. Keep it covered with breathable gauze so that your shirt doesn't irritate it.

It will be easy to cover up, the shoulder is always a good place because you don't have to worry about getting in trouble at the workplace or anything.

good luck!

Cool choice.

I got one on my shoulder blade, and it didn't hurt so much as it was annoying to sit still for so long. But all people have different pain tolerances.

Covering it up and showing it off all depends on the shirt you choose to wear. ;-)
