Financial Aid Letter My financial aid letter includes tuition, room and board, and fees. However, when I sign online to the student information system, they added an extra $5,000 in books, personal expenses, and transportation. I can't afford the extra $5,000. I know I have to pay for books, but do you have to pay the school for personal expenses and transportation? Or do they give you an estimate of how much you'll be paying out of your pocket? Am I just paying tuition, room and board, and fees to the school? Any ideas? Thanks!!

That should be an estimate, in fact I'm nearly sure it's an estimate of the cost of books, personal expenses, and transportation. I would call the school just to confirm though, it's never a bad idea to be safe about important stuff like that.
And $5,000 might actually be a decent estimate of what you'll end up spending on "extras". My meal ticket was considered an extra cost and I ended up paying $1,700 per semester for that alone. ]
