advice

My guy has a norwegian forest cat and I would like to get a lovebird. His cat is very much to herself, she mostly hangs out and prowls around in curiosity. I am planning on getting a hanging cage, for when we are out of town or at work, so there won't be a problem when we are not in the house. I have heard from many people that cats and birds can live together in harmony. I just wanted to know if any of you out there have cats and birds and how they are together. If you do what did you do to train them to get along together and what kind of situations do you run into. Does that cat saliva killing the bird apply to lovebirds too? Fill me in...thank you.
EXPERT AND EXPERIENCED ADVICE ONLY PLEASE.

my friend has a cat and a bird. she keeps the cage away (height-wise) from the cat and she doesn't bother him. don't keep it next to a couch or something where the cat can climb up. if you keep them separate, they'll be FINE!

I guess this is in a way a relationship between me and my teachers?
Ahh, I'm not sure.
Anyway,

What are some things I could do to practice speaking louder in class? When I answer a question, I answer it quietly or if I have to read out loud I read it quietly and fast.
So what are some ways I could practice getting used to talking louder?

Thanks!

hey

participate in class, that's ALL there is you can do. whenever a teacher wants you to answer a question, just project your voice so that everyone around you can hear you. don't talk to the teacher; talk to the class. and take hold of every single opportunity you can to participate in class!

take a public speaking course or join your school forensics team (both of those REALLY REALLY help with self confidence and enunciation!)

be passionate and enthusiastic about which you are reading, even if it's boring as hell!

it is the speaker who grasps the attention of the audience, not the material itself.

heyy, i know this is long but please answer if you can. im so lost any suggestion would be amazing.

the first boy ive ever loved, kissed, gone out with, all of that is still in my head. we started daitng 3 years ago (wer both 14 now) and hes been in my head ever sense. i know he feels the same way and its scary because no matter how many times we break up we aways go back to eachother. it feels like we were destined to be together. and ithink we might be eventually. but...

whenever we have a relationship it gets so serous that im scared to even talk to him. if i do, we flirt nonstop, make all of these plans, and im scared where ittle leade. ive never been able to really get over him, i get butterflys just looking at him and i know he feels the same way. but i dont want to lose a high school experience by being with him, it hurts to talk to him because i feel it getting more serous and stronger by the minuite, but it hurts not to becayse i miss him so much. and i see him in shcool everyday and he just makes me laugh and hes never broken up with me i always break up with him because i feel myself getting too attached and i get scared and run away. i think i might really love him even though i know its not likely at this age. i know i love the way he makes me feel but icant let myself accept it. and he says he dosent want a relationship now but i know i could talk him into it but im not sure whats best. do you think theres a way i could really get over him? not talking to him isnt really an option, it would just be really awkward. hes in my classes so i have to see him everyday. i know i could try to get over him, but im not sure how to get over him for good. the second he looks at me or texts me all is lost and i fall for him again. please help

thanks SO much!

yeah, i understand where you're coming from. it's hard, but if he doesn't want to be in a relationship, it's his call. a relationship is two-way.

find someone else to have a crush on. don't ignore him / be mad at him, etc. but just slowly drift away as much as possible. don't stalk his myspace, don't call him up whenever you get the chance. out of sight, out of mind. don't be where he is.

well there is this guy that i like and he really likes me. he just dumped his girlfriend (they were only casual--like a month a half?) and so hes going to wait a couple weeks but then hes going to ask me out and i just dont know if i should say yes or not. im afraid to get hurt again because this spring i had a truly terrible breakup. but i told him my deepest secret and he totally understood! so i feel much closer to him and like i can really trust him. i just started at a new school (tho i met him this summer) and moved here in june so i wasnt going to date anyone for a while but he is really nice and like a lot of things that i would want in a relationship. he says im the girl hes liked the most and he thinks hes ready for a long term relationship because thats what i want. but now i dont kno and im all nervous about dating. but everyone tells me to not just go off of one bad relationship and its true but still. i cant bear that pain again. please give me some advice and tell me what you think is best :)
thanks so much!!

life's too short to not date him. just because you had an ugly past break-up doesn't mean that you should be scared of dating again! i'll use an analogy since i've never really had a boyfriend. in middle school, i got into an ugly fight with three of my good friends because of a stupid miscommunication. ever since then, i can't trust anyone. but you shouldn't be like me. GIVE IN to him! every relationship ends (well most.) and so you should just date him if you like him and he likes you. you can only live once, you know

hey, i got a pimple a couple of days ago and i usually dont get them so i don't know how to get rid of it. can someone please help me. and what is the best stuff to cover them up with?

honestly, if you don't get pimples on a daily basis, just leave it alone. i have the same thing -- i have pretty clear skin but onceee in a while i get a pimple and you just have to keep your fingers off of it. don't pick it, pop it, or do anything else to it. don't even touch it. the best thing you can do to cover it up is with a little dab of concealer. it's thick enough to cover the entire pimple, but wash it off as soon as you get home. it will go away in a few days, promise!

I really want to take an ACT prep class so I can get a better score.

How would I find one in my area?

P.S. A legitimate one would help.

hey

the princeton review has awesome tutors. try going online & searching. your guidance counselor may or may not help you but i have a princeton review tutor for the PSAT and they also do ACT & SAT (obviously). my tutor drives to my house and it's ~$100 a session for 10 sessions once a week. so you need to start 11 - 12 weeks before the actual exam. if it's less than 12 weeks away, call them anyway. i'm sure they can help you out.

hi there. okay so the deal is im a female, and one of my nipples is really itchy and the tip is pink. the other ones fine. what does this mean? im sexually active which means there is alot of sucking and kissing and all that going on. does any one have any ideas/suggestions on what it is and what i should do? thank you very much in advance.

in addition to what BahaiMa said, it could also be because your breasts are growing. it's totally normal though -- just make sure you consistently wash your bras and wear lotion on your breasts.

Well I used to straighten my hair a lot but it got damaged pretty badly. So I was wondering, I've seen some things out there and they look like brushes. Are those like hair straighteners? Or are they something else? And where could I get one for not a lot of money?

(Sorry, I wasn't sure what category this would go under.)

they're like brushes that look like hair straighteners. i have one, but honestly, in order for it to work, you have to use it with a blowdrier. like you know when you go to a hairdresser and they use a round brush & blowdry it? it's the same thing, except with a "straightening" brush.

i bought mine from pathmark. but you can buy it pretty much anywhere. shoprite, pathmark, walmart, kmart. places like thatt :) and it wasn't expensive at all, definitely less than $10.

my suggestion would be to not buy it because...
1.) your hair will get damaged still because you need to blowdry your hair in order for it to look good while using the hair straightener.
2.) it takes forever to do. it takes like 30-40 minutes and i have pretty straight hair!
3.) if i were you, i'd just wear my hair curly or let it airdry. don't even bother straightening it. if you have "too much hair" then get it layered & shorter. it's easier to maintain and less dead at the ends.

howlong have you had ur chi?
tell me your story!

P.S. how do you pronounce chi..

okay i've had my chi (pronounced "chee") straightener for over 4 years. i bought it for $120. however, i'm sure you can find it for less than that now that it's so popular. i have thick, pretty straight hair although it does get curly sometimes. i use it every morning. i love it because it fits in perfectly with my morning routine -- i wake up, go to the bathroom, come back, turn on the straightener, put on my make-up, and then i straighten my hair. it doesn't take more than one or two minutes to heat up enough so that i can actually use it. no cons. if you use a lot of hair gel, hairspray, etc. then it can clump up on the straightener so just be sure to clean it off after each round (after it cools off!) so it doesn't start burning. i love it and i recommend it to anyone who is looking to buy a straightener.

good or bad.? i cant find any reviews on google.

never heard of it, hasn't gotten good ratings on that site, wouldn't waste my money.

buy a chi straightener -- it'll be worth the money. i've had mine for over 4 years and it still works like a charm. i use it every day or every other day. trust me. it's better than spending $35 on a shitty one that breaks down after a year.

my hands get very hot and no dont tell me to tone down the heat settings

whener i straighten my hair

what do you do when that hapens

oh and my ears get red too

my my priority is the hands like do i use a mitten ahahha

i move my hands further down the straightener (like not as close to the hot plates). you lose control but it keeps your hands cooler.

if your ears get red, try brushing your hair between straightens. i used to hold the straightener in my right hand, straighten and then run my left fingers through it, but it was too hot. so now i put a brush in my left hand and brush it after each straighten to cool it off before it falls back onto my face / ears.

what are some things that i can expect in high school?

(1) increase in stress & homework, without a doubt.
(2) increase in responsibilities. teachers will no longer push you for work -- you have to be responsible for yourself.
(3) increase in pressure to do drugs, drink, or have sex.
(4) increase in freedom
(5) you'll end up having more fun overall.

My hair used to be all dry and sticky because I never really used much conditioner. But lately Ive been using lots of conditioner so my hair is super soft. But now Im noticing everyone elses hair, and its all dry like mine used to be. Yesterday someone said to me "your hair is so soft. you must use loads of conditioner". So people know that conditioner makes your hair soft, but they dont do it? Is soft hair like, not in? lol help please, i feel like a freak.

omg no keep using conditioner. soft hair is ALWAYS in. maybe those girls have naturally dry hair and no matter how much conditioner they use, it can't become soft. it's not "outie." keep using conditioner and be happy with your hair.

18/m
im a senior and im married to a beautiful girl who i love so much!!shes 16.
anyways i have a problem...i broke up with my ex a year n a half ago and she wont quit buggin me! Shes only a freshman and shes getting on my nerves. I love my wife and our son and i hate that b**ch for trying to ruin things for me and my family. Today at school she wrtote me a note and i ripped it up in front of her and told her to leave me alone!! but she still doesnt get it!!!when will she get the hint? i dont want my lady to think im talking to her cuz im 100% faithful!!

the first thing i'd do is explain the situation to my wife in case something happens & she gets suspicious.

then i'd calmly tell her to stop talking tome. don't be rude or disrespectful, but just say, "look, i'm married and i'm not interested in you. please stop harassing me." just be honest & don't play any mind games by giving her rude glances, etc. just be straight-forward.
