ive been seeing a psychologist now for a few weeks becuase of my depression. next week, im going to see a psychiatrist and she or he will determine if my depression is bad enough for medication. i was just wondering, how do they determine if your depression is bad enough for medicine? like, will the psychiatrist ask me questions, or draw blood, or what? thanks!
They're not going to draw blood or anything like that. Most likely, the psychiatrist will just talk to you, ask you questions about why you might be having these symptoms, etc. It will basically be like a consultation so that he can decide what medication might help you out. Psychological problems are harder to diagnose than physical problems because the symptoms can be the result of many different things, so he'll probably just need to talk to you for a while to get an idea of what you're going through.

Yes. Even though it sounds weird, it is true. I'm in a psychology class, and we were learning about addictive personalities and the possible causes. Genetics has something to do with how easily you get addicted to something, as well as the environment you're put in when you grow up. In other words, if you're a baby in a womb and your mom smokes (or has an addictive personality), you are more likely to have psychological problems, such as dependence on certain substances. It also makes you more likely to pick up smoking, drinking, drugs, obsessively later in life. As far as being a child, if you're around your parents and they smoke all the time, that not only gives you secondhand smoke but it can make you way more likely to try smoking later because it's become "normal" to be around cigarettes. It's a factor of both nature and nurture- your genes play a part (whether or not your relatives have addictive personalities) and your environment does as well. Since the mother would have a dependence on nicotine, it would be possible for the baby to literally go through withdrawal after birth (or be born premature, birth defects, etc). Anyway, I hope this answered your question.
Is it okay to use other face wash products as well as proactive? For example, I often use a Clean&Clear Facial Wipe for a quick freshening up or to remove make up when I don't feel like going all out and washing my face with Proactive. Is this okay to do or should I stick to one product at al time?
It's fine, but try to moisturize too. Washing your face dries it out, and using several different products can dry it out even more.

I would recommend anything but the Pantech. Those are generally cheap phones, and I have trouble texting on them. I've heard good things about the Palm Treo, and of course the Blackberry is probably the best for texting/Internet. I think the data plan for the Blackberry is slightly more expensive per month though.

It doesn't sound mean to me- it sounds like he's being nice/flirting. I think that he probably means like cute overall, not just cute physically (like cute personality and everything too).

If you have sex, regardless of your period, you can get pregnant. Even if you're using birth control, you can still get pregnant.
I'm in grade 7 and my girlfriend and i have been going out for a few weeks but i don't know if she knows i really love her (which i do) so my friend and i was talking about it and he said one day at lunchtime i should kiss her(without her suspecting it) so that will show her love her...........but i don't know if she will be happy or just think i am a creep

Not at lunch- if you do it in public there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Do it after school somewhere. She's not going to think you're a creep but it would be better if it wasn't in front of all of your/her friends.
I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorow, and the procedure starts off with some laughing gas. And I'm absolutely terrified that I will say something really embarrassing or like pee my pants from laughing too much (which has happened before without the laughing gas.)
How exactly do you feel on laughing gas? All I know is that you feel relaxed, warm, and giggly. Anything else?
It doesn't literally make you laugh. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to work in your mouth. It just mellows you out. It's not a hysterical laughter type of thing- you just feel like relaxing and you won't care what they're doing to your mouth. Chances are, you won't even think about laughing. It'll just make you really sleepy and you'll feel like you're floating on a cloud or something.

No, because sometimes if someone's pants fit weird and they bend over, the undies go down with the pants. It's nothing really "provocative", they just need to find a belt or pants that fit.
What is this movie about? I thought it was a love story. But I'm not sure. Can anyone just give me like what it is mainly about like a summery
Across the Universe is a movie musical, made as a compilation of Beatles songs. They took like thirty Beatles songs, redid them, and worked them into the plot in some way. So it is a love story- about Jude and Lucy ("Hey Jude", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"). It's set in the sixties with the war in Vietnam going on. Jude is originally from Liverpool, England but goes to America to find his biological father. He ends up meeting a guy named Max ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer"). Anyway, Jude then meets Lucy, who is Max's sister, and they fall in love. Max gets drafted, and the story goes from there. It's mainly Beatles music telling the story though- there's only like 30 minutes of dialogue altogether.
ok so people told me that all 3 of the presidential candidates are Christian but (not trying to offend anyone here) how can you be a Democrat and a Christian?? Democrats are for stem cell research (using developing babies for science!! thus killing them, etc.) and they are for abortion (basically murdering a baby) and they are ok with gay unions and marriages and such. i mean those things definitely go against God!! its right there in the Bible!! im NOT trying to offend im just truly puzzled by how they can support this when it is so clearly not the wish of God. thank you :)

Have you ever heard of separation of church and state? It does not matter what the president's religion is- he or she will govern by what is best for the country, not what fits into his or her particular religion. So the factor of religion here is completely irrelevant.
To give you an idea of the current state of our union, here is something that I wrote not long ago:
"We have over a 9 trillion dollar national debt. Over 36 million Americans are living in poverty. Forty-seven million are uninsured. Our consumer credit debt is 12.8 trillion dollars. As for the rebate checks, that's awesome for Wal*Mart's revenue. (Shout out to Canada, China, Mexico, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam.) Why don't we just throw our money in the oven and burn it? It's very obvious that you've never studied the economy. If you want to know more about what is really killing our country, read Thomas L. Friedman's "The World is Flat."
I just can't study or get anything into my head when there's music on. I listen to music a lot but not when I'm studying. My sister always cranks the music up and it drives me nuts because she says it helps her study. but sometimes she gets low marks so I kind of doubt it.
Does music help you study?
It kind of depends on how I'm focusing. Most of the time I study in silence, but sometimes I can turn on some kind of mellow music, like Jack Johnson. Most of the time I can't listen to music because I start focusing on the music and not what I'm doing. Everyone studies differently so you'll just have to try a few different things before you find something that really works for you.
What does morning sickness feel like? Is it actually a stomach ache or what?

A common misconception is that it is literally in the morning, which is not so. It can happen at any time. And generally you suddenly throw up. If you or someone else might be pregnant, just take a test because you'll freak yourself out looking for symptoms.
do emo kids get made fun of a lot?
Yeah, they do. Generally speaking, people are afraid of things that they don't understand. I personally don't understand why someone would want to wear black, write poems, and listen to Dashboard all day. So it is kind of weird to me. Emo kids have a reputation of being like wimps or something too because it seems like most emo boys are really scrawny.
I think that for the most part, everyone gets made fun of, but people generally gang up on the emo kids.

on Size Type when it says Juniors, is that like little kid size? or is it like normal size? If i were a medium right now would I fit into a medium then, since its juniors? or would I have to get like a large or something?

It's "teen" sizing- so if you are a medium in adult sizes, a medium in junior's might be too small. If it helps, I wear between a 4/6 in jeans and I'm in between small/medium t-shirts in adult sizes, and when I try on junior's dresses and stuff I have to get either a medium or a large.

How do you graduate your junior year? I noticed that a few people are doing that in my high school but doesn't every highschool require four years of English, so how do they manage that?
You're right, you have to have four years of English- a lot of people take an English class during the summer. Or they take a regular English class at school during junior year, and take a college English class at night. You would have to graduate on the minimum plan though, which would suck.

It's not a cuss word but it would be kind of awkward to say in front of your parents or a teacher.

ok so im going on this trip to a fancy banquet in like 2 weeks (with alot of cute guys there :] ). but here is the problem: i have ALOT of acne!!!! so much that it is not even funny!
so what i am asking is that is there any quick way to "poof" my acne away??? if so, can you please tell me. i am very desperate, and will try basically everything! by the way, the banquet is in like 2 weeks. so please please please help me.

Okay, here are some things that have worked for me in the past:
Drink water only- and at least four glasses of it throughout the day. It makes you pee a lot but it helps tremendously.
For spot treatment: toothpaste. No joke. If you rub toothpaste on your zits, it dries them out and makes them go away. Just don't overuse it because it dries your face out.
Try your hardest not to touch your face during the day.
Use an exfoliating cleanser a few times a week.
Try not to cake on the makeup- it clogs your pores.

You are allowed to drive them because they're your immediate family and because you're traveling to school. The site that the other columnist gave said that you have to have a note, so you might just want to keep a note in your car from a parent that says "I give permission for my child to drive my daughters to school indefinitely" or something. I wouldn't worry about it much... if you follow all other traffic laws, you won't get pulled over so it wouldn't matter anyway. A normal cop isn't going to give you crap about driving your family to school. Happy driving :)
