does anyone know what those concrete blocks in parking spaces are called?

I call them curb stops.
Okay, well I wasn't really sure where to put this but uh here goes. So I'm 13/F and he was 14/M. He is an awesome friend but he's always been a perv. Anyway, he took it too far this time and I flipped out. We were walking in a group and some other guys that we were with were making fun of him about how he "can't get a girl" and he says "I can get any girl I want!" so he grabs me, pins me against a wall, and sticks his hand down my pants. I freaked and kicked him in the balls... He looked like he was in severe pain. I almost felt bad but not really cuz what did he expect? But now he's super pissed at me. I don't think he has a right! Does anyone else think I was out of line?
No, you weren't out of line. In fact, I applaud you for beating the shit out of him. If that had happened to me, I would have continued beating the shit out of him. He's obviously a dick. And I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself. You go, girl!
so this friday is my dad's birthday. he REALLY wants the new iphone. my mom is gunna give me enough money to go to the store and buy it, but the thing is, is that i'm 15. and my mom is working all day friday, and she really wants me to go get it so we can watch him open it and stuff. i'm 15..and not driving yet..but my friend, who's a year older than me, 16..said that she would drive me to go get it for him while my mom is at work. BUT..my dad is gunna be home with me on his birthday during the day..so...i need to come up with an excuse of WHY i'm leaving..the only think i've thought of is i'm going to a friends house and she's coming to pick me up...or that were going out to eat or something..but i want to have a reason of WHY i'm going out, without him being suspicious..cause we really want this to be a big surprise..
so..any suggestions?? THANKS!
My first instinct is to get your mom to tell your dad that you have a doctor's appointment. And your friend is picking you up and taking you to wherever your mom works, so that your mom can take you to the doctor on her lunch break. I guess it depends on where your mom works and if you think your dad would believe you. I think if you get your mom to convince him then it could work out. Of course, you would tell him that lie and then go with your friend to the store to get the iPhone. If he insists on taking you to the doctor, tell him that you're going to the gynecologist and that you'd rather have your mom take you.
You could also say that you have some kind of meeting for school, church, etc. Whenever I have to buy my parents stuff without them knowing, I just tell them that I'm at rehearsal or something. Then I can turn my phone off and be out of the house for a few hours with no problems.
Or... say that you need to help your friend paint her room. Or that you need to help her with (fill in the blank). You could tell him that you're building a house for Habitat for Humanity. There are tons of lies you can tell him, but I don't know your dad so I don't know what he will believe.
See if there's any way you could go on Thursday. Good luck!
well my house has a really weird smell.
part of its probly from my little brother.
butt it smells nasty.
i try to spray it down as much as possible with airfreshner.
&_ ive tried em all.
also my room has a odor too ;butt a different one.
any ideas on how to make my place smell qood ?
Make sure you don't have dirty clothes laying around. If so, wash them. Light a candle that smells good. Wash all of the bedding, couch cushions, pillows, rugs, and curtains in your house. Clean out your refrigerator and pantry, and take out the trash. If you have a fish, clean its bowl. Clean your shower (that's what makes my bathroom smell better).
I was wondering, if someone over the age of 18 gets a credit card account, i know they can add additional cards, but can you get a card in someones name that is under the age of 18 as long as there is permission?
It is possible to get a credit card with your name on it if you are under 18. However, it is linked to your parents' account- it has the same number on it as your parents have, but it just has your name on the front. I'm not sure if that answers your exact question, but what I'm saying is that if you are under 18, you can't get your own specific credit card. It has to be an additional card on someone else's account.
So I have a date tomorrow with a guy I really like. We have only met 3 times and its been with a bunch of people but we have been texting basically everyday and he finally asked me to go out to dinner with him and the movies. Im 14/f btw.. Im really nervous. like i have been out with a bunch of guys on dates but they have all been guys that I'm used to and known forever so it wasnt awkward. but what do i do tomorrow if things are awkward and we dont have anything to talk about!? any tips? conversation starters?
thanks!
Hey there, I've been in your shoes before. Pretty much the same situation. Anyway, I think it's more fun when you don't know each other very well... that way you can talk about anything and bring anything up. Think of some random things about yourself to share, and think of some random things to ask him. That's what I did, and it ended up going fine. Don't stress out if you two don't "click" like you thought you would. Things like that happen, but it sounds like you two get along pretty well already.
You could say things like:
What is your family like?
What are your friends like?
Tell me about the funniest thing that's ever happened to you.
Tell me the most random thing you can think of.
What is your favorite band/movie/food?
What is your dream car?
What are you involved in at school?
And you could tell him stuff about yourself, like what you do on the weekends, what your family is like, what clubs you're in at school, the worst/best day of your life, or whatever. Think of some random funny stories to tell. I know all of this sounds really cheesy, but I did it and it helped me get to know him better. Also, the randomness kind of opened things up- he told me lots of random funny stories that still make me laugh when I think about them. Like, I told him about my worst day ever (which coincidentally was the first day we talked to each other). It was so bad that it was funny- I woke up late, failed tests, got a flat tire, messed up so much in band that my director made me stand in front of everyone and apologize, etc. Then, he told me about how he had a sweatshirt that he really liked- it was too small so he cut the sleeves off and wore it in public anyway. On our first date, we sat at Starbucks for two hours after dinner, talking about random crap. Just go back and forth telling stories and it will be fine.
I really hope everything goes well for you!
I've had a Facebook for like a year now under my name but I have no pic and when people add me I just don't add them. so it says I have no friends... but I have no pic and no ifo or w/e in it. i've ever even touched it.
If you saw a blank facebook like this would u think i am a loser or would you just think that it's just unused? i know it's a stupid question... but just answer it honestly
I would think that it's unused. Don't worry about people thinking you're a loser- a lot of people have a Facebook but don't have any pictures, info, or friends just because they don't use it.

okay i currently live in a huge city in southern texas, and i hate it. when i grow up i want to live in the country in a small town in texas.
where almost everybody knows everybody. i'm going to college at University of Texas, and i'm ging to be a pediatrician. so i want to live in a nice house, raise a family, i want a cowboy type husband, i want a ranch, and acres of land. i also want to be the town pediatrician.
what do you think?
please dont think its unrealistic because anything is possible for me. i wanna grow up and live they way i wasnt able to when i was growing up. i want to be away from the city. i want my children to ride horses. hah i know this sounds weird, but its what i long for.
so my main question is do yall know some small towns in texas that fit my description???
kthanksyall!
Hmm. Like WittyUsernameHere, I am also tired of the small Texas town scene. Anyway...
As far as small towns where everyone knows everyone, go to East Texas sometime. Everyone here loves it. I think I've just spent way too much time here, so that's why I resent it, but it really is a great place to have a family and stuff. Check out Kilgore, Gladewater, Marshall, Carthage, and Hallsville. They're all around the Longview area. Longview's pretty big, but there are people with land/horses who live on the outskirts of Longview. And the school districts in Longview are good. I know it sounds like I'm totally giving away my own personal information here, so if a stalker is reading this, please note that I don't live in Longview... I'm just familiar with it.
Anyway, your future plans are totally realistic. I mean, you kind of just described the lives of some people I know.
As I was saying before I was with this guy for 11 months and its been about 4 months since we've broken up. I feel as if he was my first true love. He found a new girl now but they aren't dating. He keeps bringing up the past and all the memories we've had... and it's starting to make me fall for him again. I DON'T WANT TO THOUGH. Then he tells me he loves her but he loves me more. Agh he still uses all the nick names we created for each other when we are dating. WHAT DO I DO? What does this mean?
Female, 14.
Guys are idiots. But I can tell that you're not an idiot because you said that you don't want to fall for him again. I'm proud of you!
So, you have two options. You can confront him and say, "Hey, guess what, I'm over you so stop acting like this could ever work out." You don't have to be nice about it, I promise. Just get the point across.
Or... if possible, you could avoid him as much as you can. If you two go to the same school, then that will probably be hard. But if you don't actually HAVE to see him every day, then you should at least try to stay away from him.
If you try your hardest to not contact him for a while, it will help you move on. Make a list of all the things you hate about him. If you can't think of anything, ask your friends what they hate about him. It really does help.
K so I'm 15/f frshman and HS and I've never had a bf, and only 1 guy that I know that's actualy ever liked me. All my friends have had/have bf's and I haven't, I've never kissed anyone either, and my bestfriend just told me that she had sex for the first time, and I just feel like I'm a total freak because I've never had a bf. Is that normal??
You're really normal. Actually, you remind me of myself when I was 15. I first had a boyfriend when I was 17, and I've still never kissed anyone. It doesn't make me weird because a lot of my friends are the same way. I mean, I think you'll realize later on down the road that it doesn't really matter how experienced you are, or whatever. Once you meet someone who is actually worth dating, it really will not matter whatsoever. High school isn't all about getting laid, despite what you may have been told... it's about meeting new people, trying new things, and pretending like you have a clue what you're going to do with your life.
As far as your friend who has had sex before, I understand what it's like to be close to someone who is way more experienced than you are. A girl that I used to be best friends with is known as the ultimate slut at my school. I think it's fine for you to still be friends with her, but don't let her influence you in that direction. It will never lead to anything good.
well spring break is next week and i'm going to the beach with my friends. i have pretty fast metabolism so i'm pretty thin already but i have fat on my love handles and thighs that i wanna get rid of before i go down there. i've been working out a little for some weeks now but this week i really need to kick it into high gear to lose about 5 pounds by sunday. how can i achieve this? i've been power walking on the treadmill with the incline all the way up 4-6 nights a week, plus a lot of strength training stuff. i dont drink any soft drinks and i'm gonna eat the special k cereal this week... do you think that'll be enough? any other tips?
It's good that you've been working out, but it sounds like the exercises you've been doing are building muscle and not necessarily burning fat. And muscle weighs more than fat, so that is probably not what you're going for.
On the treadmill, put the incline on zero and jog. Jogging burns more fat than walking on an incline. Walking on an incline will get you some intense leg muscle, but I know that jogging will give you better results. So, if you want to slim your legs, jog. If you want to build leg muscle, walk on an incline.
Tip: make sure that you are stretching A LOT, before and after exercise. Especially your legs. Well-stretched legs look slimmer, which will solve part of your thigh problem.
Okay so the school Talent Show is coming up and me and my friend need a fun, fast song to make a dance to. Or if you know of any popular movies with like a 3 minute dance scene in it, we copy stuff good. Not Napoleon Dyamite, we already did that. But anyways, it has to be funny. Thanks !

A lot of people at my school have seen Daft Bodies. I don't know about your school, but I think it would be really funny to do that. Of course, you could probably wear actual clothing and write on it in glow-in-the-dark paint or something (instead of just wearing underwear).
I hope it works out!
i have braces and i play the alto saxophone. Is it harder for people with braces? Because i have a really hard time getting the pitch just right. Because my teacher tells me to put pressure on the top and drop my jaw a little. But i sometimes drop my jaw too much and it doesn't make any sound at all. Is there any way to get the pitch out just right with my mouth full of braces and mouthpiece?!
Hey, I'm a sax player and I had braces for three years. One of my best friends also plays sax and still has braces. If your braces are affecting your playing now, just keep practicing- I promise that you will get used to it. It took me a while to get used to playing with braces, but after that my pitch wasn't affected at all. And my best friend sounds normal too.
I think it would be harder if you played trumpet, so consider yourself lucky to be a saxophonist. As far as the jaw-dropping thing, that also just takes a lot of practice.
Don't worry, over time it will get better.
What do girls do to give signals or hints? Theres a girl at school and she calls me.........bear(dont ask) Also when she sees me and she hasnt seen me for a couple of classes she will hug me from behind for a second or two. Is she dropping off signs or is this something girls do to guys?
By the way I'm 13(m)
She likes you. And if you're the only guy she does this to, then she definitely likes you a lot.
I have a really good friend. We are basically "online" friends, although we go to the same school. The thing is, he is too shy to talk to me in person, what should I do?
I had a friend like that, and it was better when we were talking alone in person. It can get kind of weird when you're in a group of people. So try to talk to him when nobody else is around and it will be better. Also, he may be secretly in love with you, and that could be a factor in his shyness. Or I could be totally wrong, but don't rule that out. Anyway, it sounds like you two could be great "in person" friends too, and it won't hurt for you to just try to keep talking to him in person.

Im going to a party this week and i know there's going to be drinking. im scared if i get drunk ill let my secrets out that i dont want people to know. will that happen? even as small as they might be?
thaanks
I don't care if you rate me low... if you're scared of doing stupid shit while you're drunk, don't get drunk. It's really very simple. You're 15. You're too young to be drinking. Sorry.

Hi! I just got my permit about a week ago and I'm in the process of learning to drive. I've driven quite a bit, so far.
Well, when I'm driving, I always go the speed limit, but other cars continue to pass me.
If you're driving on a two-lane one-way road, is it normal for cars to pass you when you're slowing down to turn?
It kind of hurts my feelings.
I almost feel sorry for the cars that are stuck behind me. Thanks!
It sounds like you're a safe driver, which is good! Don't worry about the people that pass you. They do that to me, too. And don't let it hurt your feelings- THEY'RE the ones who are probably breaking the speed limit. Like another columnist said, pay more attention to what's happening in front of you than what's happening behind you. It is pretty normal for people to pass when you're slowing down to turn.
I've been driving for two years, and I'm still deathly terrified of passing people on roads where I would have to go into the oncoming traffic lane. So my advice to you is, if you feel nervous about a lot of cars stacking up behind you, pull over and wait a minute or two for them to get further down the road. I've done this plenty of times because I'd rather not have to worry about angry people behind me. I frequently have to drive on this dangerous two-lane highway, so sometimes I just find a random parking lot to pull into and let everyone pass me. Better safe than sorry!
I decided that I wanted to be one of the managers for track. Then, I changed my mind and wanted to try track. :] so if I want to stick with it, my coaches/teachers said they would let me. Today was my first track practice though. At first, I felt like I was gonna die, pass out, or throw up! Then later on, it was ok I guess. I'm kind of sad though, because everyone did the 400 meter. (I think it was meters?) The problem was, I couldn't keep running because this was like the second time my calf or leg like started hurting. It just felt strange... It felt like my muscles were cramping up. Then again, I don't really know much about fitness. Whenever I lifted my foot, or walked, it felt like my muscles were tightening up or something. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Or does anyone know what this is called? My friend said it might be "Charlie's Horses"? I've heard of it, but I don't know much about it. I was so bummed, because I really wanted to keep running, even though I felt like dying! This was also my first practice, and I haven't ran like "that" in a whileee. I think I'm out of shape. I believe I can get better though! I just hope this won't affect me in the future. =\ I had my physical done, and I don't think i had any problems, or abnormal things about me. As I started running the 400m, I could feel myself getting slower, because my leg started to hurt. I had to stop halfway... I'm still bummed now. I've ran before today, without my leg being all weird. The first time was to warm up, but I just got very tired, and my legs and butt felt crazy, if that makes sense. Then we were running straight across my school's field. So does anyone know what I should do about my leg? Does anyone know what happened, or if it's a serious danger to my health? I would like to maybe try it for another day or two, maybe I'll start getting used to it. Stretching would probably help me a lot. Also, if anyone could give me ANY tips and advice, it would help SOO much!! I know some basic things, but it wouldn't hurt to repeat them. Maybe advice or tips on how to control my breathing (I know that I have to breathe through my nose, and breathe out of my mouth), to have good stamina, how not to get as tired quickly, to not feel like I'm going to DIE, throw up, or faint, how to control my legs or arms, how to become motivated, and just "KICK IT" in full power so that I don't stop running and start to walk, just ANYTHING that could help me improve, and become better at running! Please only answer this question if you know what you're talking about, or if you run track or have ran cross country yourself! I would love to NOT HURT or have bad feelings during practice. I just wanna have fun and feel comfortable, but not die and suffer as a result or during the process lol. xD (yes, I know it may get painful sometimes, and that it'll be worth it.) Thanks!!
I'm a runner too. Running is one of those things that you just have to practice a lot in order to get better at it. Dedication is key.
Stretching is very, very, very important... try to take five minutes before AND after practice to stretch your legs. Stretching your legs is probably the most important (especially your quads!), but I also like to stretch my arms and stuff because running is a full-body exercise. I stretch my quads by bending one of my legs up and holding my foot at my hip for a few seconds. I also like to sit on the ground and bend one leg at a time back to where my foot touches my butt. My quads give me the most trouble when I run hard so make sure you're stretching them properly.
Warming up and cooling down is also important because it keeps you from getting hurt. Don't start off sprinting- ease into it. The same thing goes for when you're done with practice. Don't run hard and then just stop and go home. Finish running, jog a little, walk a little, stretch, and then go home.
As for stretching your arms and stuff, you might want to look up some Tae-Bo videos on YouTube. They have great warm-up exercises that stretch out your muscles.
I don't know how your track coach feels about this, but I like to listen to my iPod when I run. I have a special playlist for different races. It definitely keeps me going.
I've read that having abs helps you run faster. I wouldn't know, because my abs aren't so great :) But if you're super serious about running, do crunches before you go to bed a few nights a week.
The number one rule of fitness is to STOP if anything just outright hurts. I know that you can't usually just quit a practice, but you can prevent injuries by stretching, warm-ups, and cool-downs. Also, since you're a new runner, ease into it. Don't expect to be able to run 5 miles in a week- work up to long distance gradually.
Here's a personal experience of mine regarding stamina. I've been running for several years now (I'm 17). I'm not on a track team, but I run 5k's and stuff just for fun. I was seriously under the impression that I'm not that great at running and had no endurance until last week when I invited my friend to go running with me. I thought she was going to kick my butt. Wrong! She was totally dying when she was trying to keep up with me. Like, she was already out of breath when I was just settling into a good pace. I guess I have more stamina than I thought. So the moral of this story is... just keep running! Even if you don't realize it, you're getting better with every practice. Don't ever give up!
Heey . does anyone think its a bit slutty to break your virginity at 13 ?
Yeah. I'm 17 now, and when I think of how much I've changed since I was 13... wow. I was really stupid back then (and I probably still am stupid, but whatever). So if you are 13 and have sex... you are going to regret it. Nothing is too awesome that it's impossible to wait at least a few years and reconsider.
What is a good age to let a kid date?
It just depends on the kid, honestly. I started dating when I was 17. That was the first time that I felt that I had met a great guy whom I could actually picture myself spending time with.
I don't see anything wrong with someone having a boyfriend/girlfriend before they can drive. I think it's weird, and it's not a choice I ever made. Just as long as it's all in good fun and nothing serious. If you forbid your child to "date," that will only make them want to date even more. So watch out for that.
I would say that it's pretty normal for someone to start dating "seriously" at 16, or whenever they can drive. I think it's pretty important for parents to approve of whoever their child is dating at that age.
