I'm a teenage girl (raised catholic) who has been atheist/agnostic/unsure since the summer. I have encountered several recent events in my life that have lead me to believe that there really is a God after all. All of my friends are really strong christians- but I just don't think that God is real.
I don't know if Christianity is right- or even real... but I'm feeling compelled to recommit my life to Christ. What does that mean anyway? How can you "commit your life" to someone who isn't even real? Who IS Jesus? I mean this whole thing makes no sense. How can there be a God when there are so many other religions like islam and such? My prayers never came true as a Christian.
Oh, by the way- I hate going to church and i don't see the point in doing it. It never even brought me closer to this so-called God. To be a true Christian (not a poser) do you HAVE to attend mass? What if I just want to have my OWN faith? I also don't believe in Bible verses and stuff- like I don't think that the people in it were real. Why can't we just have faith in GOD and not all the crap that goes along with it? (link)

let's face it: Christians are people. The whole religon may be based on a perfect being, but the people who now organize it sure arn't perfect. There are probibly some things, especialy history-wise, that the christians got wrong. People always find ways to muck things up. Thats why there are so many conflicting veiw about God even within the religous community.
Oooh boy, the big God question. Well, I guess it all really depends on how you view God. If you think of God as a old guy with a long, white, flowing beard who lives up in the clouds, then you are probibly wrong. If you think of God as a less human being - like a consiousness, or an ideal- then you could be right (or at least a little more right than the guy who belives God as an old man). I perfer to think of God more as existance itself. Perhaps God isn't a collective being as most people think of him.
On a slightly less Philosphical note, you could always use this wierd theory. That is, if you belive in God, and he exists, then great for you! If he doesn't, then there won't really be anybody around to say I told you so, now will there? It's better safe than sorry.
On the note of going to church, you dont really NEED to go. Most people go just to get their morals in order.I'm pretty sure God (who or whatever He is) will be pretty much satisfied that you just belive that he exists.

Do NOT fall into the assumption that God answers prayers. God gives you support from within yourself to answer your own prayer. God isn't a maid service that you can just call up and say you need something done and he'll do it. Many people believe that, promptly have some tragedy, blame it on God, and walk away and never want to hear about God again. Once again, DO NOT belive that God will answer your prayers without you doing the work too.

Well, it may be that he actually already likes you but is too shy to admit it to anybody or even show it. However I would suggest that you try to hang around with him as much as possible and also make sure that you and him get some alone time together. It doesn't have to be like a date or anything, just make sure he is comfortable with you around. If, after that he doesn't ask you out or anything, I woulden't freak out. It's probibly because he likes you but is too shy to ask you out on a date.

I'm a Christian. Lately, I've been worried about something. I've been thinking things like "What if Christianity isn't the true religion and Islam/Buddhism is?" Basically I'm scared that Christianity may not be the true religion. I believe in Jesus, but what if Islam is the true religion? Then I would go to Hell forever because of one decision, you know? There is no true religion. Since all religions (while they may not have been founded by man) have been built up to where they are now by man, all religions are bound to have little holes in them whitch prevent them from being superior over the other. Besides, at the core, don't all religions teach the same bsic principals? They are all based on being kind to people in this earth, so that you may be rewarded in the next. So anyway you turn, as long as you're doing good in the world, you'll probibly do good in the next.

Remember, the bible may be the words of God, but men wrote it. There might be just as many holes in the Bible as there are holes in science right now. Personaly, I find that the world makes more sense when you combine the theroies of the Bible and science. Think about it. How come the Bible explains why the universe is, but is somewhat lacking in explaining how the universe is, while science seeks to answer How the universe works, but has no answer to Why the universe is?

I'm friends with this girl, Rachel. Last year we were best friends and we did practically everything together. We got in a fight over the summer, but I forgave her and I'm still mad about it. Well, I WAS. I'm not anymore, but when I was, I tried to do everything without her to make her see how I felt...I tried to MAKE her feel left out. I feel really bad about it even though she didn't even apologize for it herself because it was the wrong thing to do and the wrong way to handle it. I feel so stupid now and we barely talk. She hasn't told it to my face that it bothers her, but she told my other friend and they told me. Is there some way that I can apologize in a different way or something and be best friends with her again? (link)

Well, from experience I can say that the best way to apologise is to say it to her face. Don't add anything that might suggest that the fight was her fault. Usually when you apologize to someone face to face( and to if with real feeling), they will almost immediatly accept your apology(and sometimes start blaming themselves)If they do start to put blame on themself, assure her that you forgive her comepletely. I know it sounds kinda soap-operaish but afterward it will immediatly make you and her feel a whole lot better and possibly even better friends than you started out as.
(it's also a good idea, quickly after the apology to set up something to do together, something that you know she will enjoy doing.)

My parents are so weird. Every Christmas, they say "we don't have a lot of money to give out to you, we can't even pay our bills." But then they go and spend hundreds of dollars on presents for us and themselves or each other. It's weird. They don't have money to hand out to me and my brother, but money to spend for other unncessary things?
Also, 2 things I asked for this year was a digital camera [$119, because I checked the site for the store they could buy it at], and a PSP which was $200 at the same store. Now, according to my mother, she didn't buy me the PSP because it was $50 more than what the site had listed, and it was "expensive." I have a big gift under the tree. It's HUGE. It looks like a computer or tv is inside of the box. My mom said it's not a tv..but she didn't say it wasn't a computer. I don't get it. My 2 things only cost $169 together. A computer is like $500. So, if they can get me a computer, and 2 other things, why can't they get me the PSP or the digital camera? I told my mom the PSP was no big deal, but the camera was, and she's yet to buy that becaue I can tell by the shape of the other gift, it's not a camera. I told her I wanted the camera more than anything else I asked for, and I hope she gets it. But why would she spend a lot of money on that huge gift, and then complain that my other two presents [that I probably am NOT getting] were expensive? I don't get it.

Well, I somwhat agree with the answer below, but I would also like to add that it is possible that your parents want to suprise you, and they feel if they actualy get you something that you asked for, then it will ruin the suprise.You could just drop them a hint or two about what you might want, so they still feel like they are suprising you.

I understand what you're talking about. Some boys are just really uncomfortable when it comes to calling people. Him not calling you is probibly just be because he is somewhat shy and feels uncomfortable calling you.But when you call him, that is an entirly different story. He will feel much more comfortable if you keep on calling him for a while, then slowly and occaisionaly asking him to call you. I wouldn't worry about him not liking you at all.

this is just my personal belief, but I would first go to the person that Robert's brother is saying Robert is cheating on you with. Ask her what is really going on. If it turns out that she says that he was with her, confront Robert and seriously talk to him about this. It is important for him to understand that you love him and that it is important to know wether or not he loves you back.

My husband and I stopped drinking a year ago. We both like it, but we we're out of control. Plus, we became Christians and thought that it's wrong. Well, you have to remember, most paradoxes that we've thought up today are just failings of our languages and our failure to comprehend the nature of the universe. We work as hard as we can, but anything created or thought up by humans is bound to be faulty in some way, inculding our languages.So, what I'm trying to say is English or any onther earthly language does not have reliability when describing what God can do.

I don't know, I've just been thinking about this alot lately. Okay, you know how people always say that to go to Heaven you have to believe in God and be religious and such? Well, what about a person who is kind and selfless and is just a good person in general and is an athiest? Does that mean that they wouldn't go to Heaven even though they were a good person who did good for other people? Because if you think about it, not every person who is religious is good. Like the terrorists who flew the plane into the World Trade Center, causing the deaths of all those innocent people. They claimed that they were doing that for God and their religion. I mean, wouldn't it seem wrong for a person just to go to Heaven because they were religious even if they weren't a good person, and a person who was a really good person not going to Heaven because they weren't religious? well, to answer your first question about the good Athiest, Dante (that guy who wrote The Divine Comedy [not Comedy as in joke]) thought and wrote that if you are not baptized, you get sent to Limbo, which apperently isn't that bad of a place, so it is not a Christian belief that all Athiests go to Hell.
It is important to realize when dealing with figures such as God, that our moral standards may not be His. Good is relitive, an opinion on which many people disagree upon. Just because you or I happen to think something is "bad" does not mean that the Lord belives that it is "bad"
In other words, who knows? I don't. and I sincerly doubt anyone truly does.

right this is actually incredibly hard for me to even say becasue i hate talking about it but my mum is 49 and shes overweight she had a stroke and had to have an operation which nerly killed her she also has high blood pressure. thing is shes entered herself into a half a marathon power walking race. i really dont think she should do it because i know for a fact that if she does she will probably hurt her self or even die btw half a marathon is 13.2miles im going to go on it with ehr just to make sure shell be ok but how can i like try and warn her baout her fate in the nicest way possible?? It might be that he just needs a little pushing. If he is kinda shy and hasn't had too many gf before(as I am imagining him) then he probibly likes you, but lacks the courage to ask you out. If all fails, just ask him out yourself.( He will probibly feel a whole lot better if you did.)

Ok so recently i've had really bad dandruff and ive been scrubbing my scalp really hard everytime i take a shower but it seems like i have more flakes everytime. I used head and shoulder before and it didn't really help. Now i'm using pantene shampoo and condition. Please help.

Well, it really depends on the guy. If he's pretty popular, does sports, and doesn't mind a flirt or two in front of the guys, than it's fine to hold hands for a while, and you can flirt with him in front of his friends if it's just looks like you're joking around with him. If he is more laid back and somewhat shyish than I would pay just a little more attention to him than his friends, but don't hold hands or anything.
