Nursing or Occupational therapy assistant I have my bachelors degree and got it to eventually get a masters in my dream job of Occupational therapy. I didnt get accepted twice to the top school and the other schools are too far so i might do the occupational therapy assistant program because its closer then to get my masters in occupational therapy after the assistant program its required to work for a year then I can do 2 years online to get my masters in occupational therapy. The only thing is occupational therapy assistants make 45,000-54,000. I may not get the chance to get my masters after the assistant program. I dont know if I can afford to make a living for myself and 2 children on my own as an occupational therapy assistant, when I do decide to have children, I will not rely on my fiance to stay with me forever things happen and also im not sure if he will stick around even though hes great my mom was a single parent. Nursing pays well enough for me to possibly afford to support 2 children and myself, i like the job but i like OT way more. Nursing and OT are both my picks for a career for many reasons but if i cant get into the masters program then i may have to stick with assistant and i dont think they dont make enough for someone who went to school for 6 years to get a bachelors and then did graduate studies as prerequisites for both nursing and occupational therapy. Nursing or occupational therapy assistant, if i dont do the masters program? I like both careers.
