Whenever I am reading in bed, I hold my book with one hand, and my other hand goes looking for scabs to pick. I used to pick at breakouts on my face, but I forced myself to stop because my face was always covered in scabs. However, I now find scabs to pick elsewhere, particularly on my back. I have about 10-20 small scabs on my back that I pick open every night. Even if some of them heal occasionally, I find any little bump on my back and pick it until it bleeds.
I know this is bad for me, but how do I make myself stop? I've tried a number of methods to just keep my free hand still, but as I read, my attention drifts and before I know it there is a sting and I have picked open a scab again. What can I do to stop hurting myself like this?
I used to do what you are doing now but I simply forced myself not too as it will just make it worse. Also get some cream or lotion for your back from a local chemist as that will help reduce the number of scabs you currently have. [ JBStargate1's advice column | Ask JBStargate1 A Question ]
