Question Posted Thursday October 15 2015, 11:53 am

okay thank you......uhm I was wondering, my hair grows EXTREMELY fast........like an inch a month without doing much at all. I cut my hair about two months ago, and it's grown ALLLLMOST 3 inches already without doing much (it is like 5 inches to 6 now) just walking constantly every day (I walk around 4 times a day).........with all I'm doing how long do you expect (I know you don't know exactly) but expect for me to grow around ten inches with all I'm gonna do and with how fast my hair grows alone.......?!

Hi there! It's difficult to be precise. You would say the average is usually given as 6 inches a year (half an inch a month). But when we talk about averages there are plenty of people below, and plenty of people above to make up for that, and arrive at this average figure. You already sound well above average! So, I'd guess you're under 25, and obviously a fit and healthy young woman. The diet, exercise and hair care routine you're taking up, lets say you gain around 30 percent in actual length. That's a reasonable figure. We'd then be talking 1.3 inches per month, so at a fair estimate you should have ten inches of hair by maybe the end of January? If you mean adding 10 more inches to your existing six, you should certainly be there 5 or 6 months from now. The diet and health regime is not only about growing length quick, it's equally about the condition of the hair you'll grow. Denser, stronger and healthier. With a rich glossy look. Quality is as important as quantity, wouldn't you say? Do watch your hair care regime, a hot blowdry or heat treatment or two can cause damage so quickly. If the hair is damaged and breaks off along it's length or falls out it takes simply ages to grow out the damage. So don't be tempted to take styling and care 'shortcuts' any time. There's nothing much to suggest that human hair growth is affected by season. True, animals grow a 'winter coat' and then shed a lot of in spring. But we don't seem to share that at all. I guess the seasonal things that might affect you are lots of sun, and saltwater if you swim in the sea, drying and damaging your hair in summer. That's where careful washing and drying and your coconut oil conditioner etc is needed to keep it in good condition. The ultraviolet in sunshine is a good thing. It's a case of being sensible. If you're set on 'catching some rays' to the point where you need to use sunblock for your exposed skin, remember your hair's getting a good dose too. It won't 'burn' like skin of course, but make sure you give it plenty of TLC when you've finished a day in the sun. And the shorter, darker days of winter lower our general condition. So concentrate on those vitamin C and D rich foods to keep you fighting fit despite the natural seasonal low. So what should we say? By January you have every right to expect noticeably much longer, healthy and glossy hair. You're well on target. By spring, you'll be knocking everyone dead, I'm sure! Then it's a case of maintaining it with the care, diet and exercise.
