I am a girl with a digit ratio of ~0.75. Does this mean I'm super manly?

Question Posted Tuesday July 28 2015, 10:24 am

Or that I absorbed testosterone through a vanishing twin? How would I know for sure? I don't understand why I'd have excess testosterone exposure in the womb. What causes that, my mom's diet, stress, exercise, etc when I was in the womb? Despite my digit ratio being lower than many guys' I still feel feminine. I've always liked dressing up, and would rather go to class or the grocery store in a dress than sweats. I'm heterosexual, too, and not promiscuous at all. I want to wait til marriage, if I'm fortunate enough to find the right guy who fashions me the right girl. What made me concerned is how hairy I am. I've been hairy since around the time I got my period, at age 10. It's annoying to have to shave all the time. I also had early puberty and have had very painful periods ever since. I wonder if it's all related, or if I'm mentioning very separate things. Anyways I've just been reading about girls with lower digit ratios being less attractive, and it's like.. Ouch, lol. My face looks symmetrical to me, and as I've been losing weight, due to eating healthier, I'm finally getting a more curvy waist, than the boxiness I had before. My waist had always been smaller than my thigh and butt circumference, though. I'm also pretty terrible at sports, though I enjoy them recreationally, so a low digit ratio didn't help me there. The next thing that confuses me is the whole alpha man thing. That high digit, "more feminine" girls love low digit, "more masculine" guys. As if that's the only basis of beauty. They never talk about the other perspective. I'm the sort of girl that doesn't get what girls find attractive about Channing Tatum but swoons to Cillian Murphy. Is Channing Tatum more of a guy just because he's ripped? That's ridiculous to me. Is the whole digit ratio thing BS or why do I find so many inconsistencies? The only thing I find relation to is that I tend to be really hairy, but I'm in the process of correcting that through cutting out animal products and byproducts, exercising more, and of course, bi-weekly or once a month shaving of essentially my entire body

Additional info, added Tuesday July 28 2015, 10:32 am:
I don't get why testosterone is associated more with men and estrogen more with women, like a guy is less of a guy for having higher than average estrogen, and the notion of a girl being seen as less of a girl for having higher than average testosterone. .

I looked up digit ration on wikipedia. Its a subject that doesnt interest me particularly. It might have a little bearing, some input into how a person turns out to be as a person but so do so many other things. I've read the name we're given can influence our behavior for example, where we fall in line with siblings, our sun and moon signs and all that, etc.... Eye color is supposed to affect people some way supposedly the same as hair color. We could dissect ourselves and it still wouldn't change what we look like, any tendencies and our personality.

I haven't come across very many hairy females in my life. I am female and have met a few tho and other than their having really hairy arms legs and torso, they seemed to be very feminine. One I know of was dating after her divorce and she had all sorts of guys interested in her. Apparently the body hair was not a turn off for them. She had a creative personality, was intelligent and interesting as a person.

My only concerns when it comes to testosterone amounts or estrogen amounts in people is that it can if way off, cause medical/sexual related problems. If a girls estrogen is too high for example, due to puberty and what we take in from our environment, she can become depressed, suicidal, undergo a total character change, have out of control anger problems. guys with too low testosterone may have troubles sexually with either being interested in sex at all, lack of desire at times or just not getting hard. thats at least one cause there. I know of someone who discovered in his 20s he was born with low testosterrone count. He had a very manly body. He was a boyfriend of mine before my 2nd husband. I wouldn't have known had he not told me. As long as he took the medicine daily, which was testosterone pills, he was fine. He also had no issues with desire or performance.

Now if you check with a doctor and your estrogen levels are correct, then I wouldn't worry.
Lots of how you look is genetic, passed down by parents or skips a generation or two, or can come from great grands and grandparents. Generally women are more fair skinned and smaller than men in stature and bone size, but that is just generally. It is not abnormal for some women to have some male traits in body looks or a male to look more effeminate.

If the body hair really is that big a deal to you, I would suggest laser hair removal. I met a guy who had it done for his face because his facial hair was prone to curl under and become ingrown and had lots of infections. Laser treatments are very common these days and work quite well. Although you will need to schedule a series of them. One or two won't be enough. Buying a package deal is way cheaper too. It can be pricy, so check around on prices. How does it feel? No more painful than waxing or plucking. So if you can stand that, this is a cinch. After 4 or 5 treatments, there will be either no hair growing back, to very little hair growing, sparsely and the hairs are much finer. The body is prone to create hairs so after maybe 3 -5 years, you'll find you want to go in to get one more upkeep treatment to get rid of any that grew in over that period. So dont worry about being any less of a girl. Your gender is female. If your mind feels you are female too, no problem there then. You will find someone who is attracted to you for the whole package, all of you, inside and out. People have quite different tastes in what they are attracted to. I've had guys bypass me and hit on women who were taller, tanner, blonde or redhead instead of brunette, or woman who carried a lot more weight than I. Everyones taste is personal. Never try to change who you are to fit someones personal taste. I was dumb and tried with my ex but I was young...it doesnt work cus if you're with the wrong person and both are really attracted to each other, then why be together. Hope this gives you some hope and you stop worrying about your looks.
