Muscle vs fat

Question Posted Thursday August 21 2014, 9:37 pm

I'm just curious, what does your body start using first, muscle or fat? Say that I was stuck on an island or something and I have water but I haven't eaten in a day or two, would my body eat away at my muscle and then stored fat or vice versa?

It depends what you're doing... if you exert a lot of energy in a panic, it uses muscle because of the higher energy content... if you're just hanging out, building a fire, etc... it will use fat.
