How can I get rid of anxiety? I'm desperate for help

Question Posted Saturday August 16 2014, 4:34 am

I've dealt with anxiety and depression my whole life. I'm a teenager at the moment. Anyways I take meds, but they aren't helping. I have an appointment with my doctor at the end of the month, but I want to see if there's any natural ways to help improve it a little.
I've felt Depersonalization for 2 years now and it's ruining my life. It's caused by anxiety, so I know that it will be decreased if my anxiety is aswell. How can I get rid of this terrible disorder I have,? I just can't function anymore.

While I never like to so that I know how you feel as that I believe all of our experiences are unique, I can tell you for sure that I can relate.

First off, meds can be helpful despite not being natural. Perhaps you may need to look into another drug or a higher dosage.

I'm glad to hear you do meet with a doctor as well. So many people with similar problems are very reluctant to seek professional help due to fear or the stigma that they think may come with it.

With all that being said, there are certainly some more natural things you can try that may be helpful. In fact, many of them wouldn't require taking anything at all.

The act of meditation can help bring about lower levels of anxiety. In a similar way, if you are religious, praying can have the same effect. Setting aside time to listen to calming music seems to be of benefit for some people too.

Thinking a little more outside the box, self-hypnosis or listening to recordings with subliminal positive messages can have an impact. This guy will make you one:

Exercise can help too:

Last but not least, as I always do for people having these sort of issues, I recommend reading the book "Feeling Good" by Dr. David Burns.

Stay strong.
