laser tag birthday party

Question Posted Tuesday February 11 2014, 6:31 pm

So for my birthday party this year I'm planning on doing a laser tag party... but the thing is, is I want whoever is invited to buy their own gun and vest so we can all play around my neighborhood. All my friends are in and like the idea, but the only thing is... there are a lot of us (close to 30), and we are having trouble finding laser tag guns and vests that are cheap enough but work at far ranges and will all link up with one another.. any ideas??

Hi there,

I researched this for quite some time, and I most certainly see your problem. Most of what is out there isn't very good, and the pro gear that laser tag companies rent, is way more expensive than would make sense for your party.

I have two suggestions:

Find the nearest indoor laser tag arena, and have the party there. I know this isn't ideal, but you are looking at about $250 that each person is going to have to spend for a set that works at a distance.

Second thought depends on the places around you, and the policies they might have. I know some places will rent their gear for parties in other places. Expect a heavy security deposit on the gear, and make sure that everyone knows that if they break their gear, they will be the ones paying for it.

Even if you had to drive a couple hours each way to pick up and return the gear, it would be many thousands of dollars cheaper than buying professional guns, vests and helmets.

Sorry for the delay in answering. I was surprised nobody answered, then I found out why... there aren't any really good off the shelf gear sets to point you to.

Whatever you do, I hope your birthday party is a good time for one and all.
